Didn't realize you had to translate some of this. But yeah, you can't have the defense and imperialism traits be at the same level unless if both traits are less than 5. And for a spin, I dunno. Maybe they're able to breath underwater for short periods of time? Maybe they dwell underground because their eyes are sensitive to light? It's your call there.

20% wasn't unheard of during this tech level, I think one of the ancient Chinese states had 20-25%, but that was during a turbulent time. !0-15% should be the average not-at-war right now, and even that's large.

Having a professional standing army is a relatively modern concept. Until a few hundred years ago, armies were predominantly volunteer or conscript in times of war. Rulers of course kept some professional soldiers, but they were minuscule and never made up the majority of the army. The costs associated with a large standing army made keeping them in times of peace nearly impossible, as demonstrated by the English Republic during military rule which essentially went bankrupt. As well, the larger your army the less manpower you have for other things, like growing your economy or advancing your technology level.

My race looks incredibly human till you start to get close, nearby raiders/war bands/bandits might see us as easy prey, espcially if they've been in the northern area which isn't part of the republic yet. A raider group or what have you pushes deeper and hits Rose Republic provinces where they go from city states and nomads, to a full nation with a well trained military.

That's pretty much how it goes in my nation too. If you start from the far west, it's mostly tribal outer clans consisting of nomadic horse-riders and small stationary communities. Past these are established cities and villages that do not maintain a standing army and receive little to no backup from the Fire Clan (Though ones to the east are supported by Inner Clans); these are the primary outer clans. Then, once you reach Afghanistan (Or if you come from Russia with Love): BAM! Inner Clans. Standing Armies. Professional standing armies. Professional standing armies full of well-equipped infantry and siege engines with fortress cities. On top of that these Inner Clans are in a defense pact with the Fire Clan, meaning they will come and support the Inner Clans in times of war.

You know, just to let you know the outline of Oni societies.

There's a problem, actually. Me, in my infinite wisdom, accepted both you and Kratu when you both have some conflicting territory. You two are really only clashing in species range, so if you two can work it out, then that'd be great. If not, then you or Kratu could always get some more land elsewhere near your territory.
