Okay. I'm gonna state right now that your dead wrong in every regard. Kale ain't there because its a shipping attempt. She likes hanging out with friends, and that includes in their apartments. Just because its a girl and guy doesn't mean they are gonna fuck. In fact, the closest I've gotten to a "ship " was months ago when she and another character bathedband washed each other. Both female. And even then, she is not romantically interested in anyone, as stated a while back, for reasons not expanded upon yet. And that was addressing Toscha.

Toscha is a friend and she wants to know him better. In fact, she wants to know everyone better. That's the reason she is their.

Funny, I never had her think of any romantic inclination in that event yet people assume its gonna happen Very, very telling AND somewhat insulting...

I'd be honored if you did. Works in either place. I send players to Multiverse and quote from it when they TG.

Did so.

Also, I'd agree that when people write what they know (which everyone does to various extents), they be sure that they're absolutely ready to do that. Occasionally even veteran rpers can fall victim to becoming too invested in the material they're writing. This post here had been particularly painful for me to write, and I cut it off before it actually concluded because I was getting disturbed by it. The gist of it is that Crowley is suffering from severe depression, which I've had issues with, so it was difficult to write.

Which is another thing I'd raise - be careful with what you write and be absolutely sure you're emotionally ready to do it. You don't want your content to actually cause you hurt or make roleplaying difficult unless you're up for it. Don't do things that make you uncomfortable and feel free to ask people to stop if they're writing things that cause you discomfort or trigger things for you.

It comes across as a prelude. If that isn't your intent, you need to make effort to show the reader otherwise. Several people have already assumed it based upon the scene's flow.

Do not blame the reader and become insulted when the intent has not been woven into a scene by the authors. We see very short posts that focus on giggling and a few words. It might help us better understand the motives if players wove in thoughts and mannerisms beyond basic description.

Mary sat on the couch and giggled playfully at the boy. "So, what do you want to do?"

vs

Mary tucked her legs under her as she curled up on the couch. She cradled the hot cocoa in her hands, fingers guarding the cup as securely as she guarded her own heart. She liked John, but not that way. She didn't want to do anything that would lead him to believe her intent was anything but friendly.

She giggled at his comment and then fished around for a reply. Nothing came to mind.

"So, what do you want to do?" she shrugged.

Excellent point. There are times when a topic pains us. It becomes canon and might return to haunt us when we least expect it to. Players don't understand our proximity to the subject and thus might mistreat it or blow it off as trivial.

Beautiful Crowley post.

I have no idea what to say. I'm not particularly happy that an argument has erupted over something that I'm involved in because it feels like my fault for some reason, but I don't want to say anything to worsen matters. I try not to be the one to take sides in these kinds of things.

There is no argument, there is no fault, Bran. This is a discussion.

Don't take sides. It's just a critique on how a scene is progressing and the feels coming across to readers. People can't read minds so they go by what's printed. That's why I suggested more details be added to posts.

"Maybe". And that's a very stretched maybe. I honestly think its with other people's preconceptions than what's actually going on.

And while that example is sort of useful, I feel like it doesn't apply in all situations.especially with Kale. She is different, very different from other characters. That has been established multiple times throughout her stay here. I don't feel I need to write her thinking about keeping it friendly because I don't think she would actually consider that. This is a normal, friendly situation. I honestly wouldn't think that she would consider a romantic inclination to pop up. In fact, it would be better to experience the culture shock of having it pop up than to uncharacteristically assume she would know when and where one would pop up.

Thought I guess I could use the voice of the narrator to state such things. To help contrast her and the normal societal assumptions. Though, I'm afraid that people will mix up which is her thoughts and which is the narrator's comments. I guess I could try that more for a bit.

I do relfect myself in Torii somewhat. She's quick to go for the violent solution (sadly, I do as well), she's got a kind of old-fashioned view on many things, she's quick to anger, etc.

And then there are things that are nothing like me. Torii is quick to talk to new people. I hate people. She's can also be bubbly/emotional/flirty/personal. I don't do that. I grew up with the whole "Men don't show their feelings." philosophy, and I stick to it IRL.

So yeah....I feel comfortable with my writing. I still doubt it a bit, and wish I could always write better, but it all comes down to my mindset and feeling.

Regarding her family : my famy is weird, not not distant. Torii's whole thing with her Dad is something I can relate to, though. I think that Dads are pretty damn important.

I thought it was an argument, alright? Am I not allowed to make a simple mistake around here?

I don't have a problem with anything right now. I only got frustrated because of your reply. I took it the wrong way.

"Hey, Bran, don't worry about it, it's not an argument." sounds a lot nicer than what you said.

That's exactly what I said, perhaps not the way you would've have preferred. Now drop it, thanks.

Ah, I meant Katya and not Torii in my example. Still, it was an excellent development moment.

Yup. Twas all a good post Cer, yup.

I would say that Giovenith is more reflective of my intrapersonal self (or at least how I want to view my inner self), which is obviously easier to communicate to others through a computer screen. My outer, interpersonal self is more that of Willow (obviously none of us interact on any basis in real life, so you probably wouldn't notice this). Pippa doesn't really hold anything of me.

Question: who is at Chaos? I've been reading back through the IC thread, and I'm still not sure. Cer just sent Ocho in for a drink, but who else is around?

Yep. Up until my last post, it was a noisy affair. Chrys and Hans have just stepped out for a few moments.

Mez, Thriller, Wren and Rudolf are at a table. There's a barrel of alcohol near them. It looks like the start of a loud and festive event. Ocho and MB are at the bar. There are plenty of empty tables scattered around.

I believe there were other characters on their way there. One of them is Rodney, but I won't post his arrival until Sandy's group arrives (he's walking behind them).

Tsu, do you mean Fallout: Bielefeld?

We're there, which is why I'm looking for characters Sandy and Amanda would recognize. None so far. I can certainly manage w/o, as indicated by my last IC post.

Sorry if my posts have been quite lazy (well, lazier than usual anyways. :I). I've been under time constraints lately. The internet'll work for about ten minutes and then it'll shut off for about half an hour.
