Nutella or pineapple? I'm actually not a Nutella fan, although it tastes good. Jams and jellies are good, peanut butter and Nutella is... meh.

Pineapple would be good right now. I keep falling asleep during the video. *yawns* I think I'll go to bed.

And most likely return when I can't actually fall asleep there.

Well, lab was hell. Ended up punching a lamppost out of frustration. 5 AM and I just got back and squeezed in a post.

Good night, PL. I'll see you in 5 hours (probably).

Will be working on fashioning the next OOC. Reminder to new people: don't post in it until we officially transfer.

Feb is shaping up to be a tight month. I may not be on as often. Please make sure you all TG links containing your important information. One-shots, character tab updates, etc. Thank you to those who have updated me. Swith, apologies again for failing to add Neste's other pic. In other news, I actually have a nation issue that fits my nation's feel. Clever, Issues Editors. Very clever.
The Issue

A period of unprecedented peace and prosperity in Swith Witherward has seen your personal approval rate sky-rocket. Recently, a small but growing movement has emerged claiming that these general good times are the result of your divine favour, and are advocating that the people worship you as a god.

The Debate

  • "All hail the glorious the Collective Chorus, giver of safety and wealth!" shouts Anne-Marie Zhimo, the Prefect of the Cult of Divine Nationalism from atop a wooden crate in Tulgey Grand Plaza. "Are not the might and benevolence of the holy the Collective Chorus manifest for all to see? Should we not respond in humble worship? Proclaim your divinity before all, O Great One, and your people shall listen!"

  • "This is heresy!" pontificates Hope de Groot, a high-ranking clergywoman of The Philosophical Practice of Tolerance, while proffering a collection plate. "Surely you can't seriously be entertaining delusions of divinity? You would undoubtedly bring divine wrath upon us! I urge you, speak out against these wayward souls and endorse the teachings of our holy writ as the true path to righteousness. Only then can we be assured of continued providence."

  • "Let's not be too hasty now, there may be an opportunity in this," muses Sophie Chorus, one of your shrewdest political advisors. "Of course you're not divine, we both know that, but is there really any harm in letting these whack-jobs think you are? Nothing begets obedience like the command of one's god, after all. Perhaps a carefully constructed public statement is in order, one that gives legitimacy to these people's beliefs while avoiding claiming divinity outright. Let people read into it what they want, and if they flock to this 'religion' in droves, well, would it really be so terrible if a large percentage of Swithwardians became your devoted disciples?"

  • "Bah! Ridiculous gobbledygook, all of it!" says Cooper Silk, controversial atheist author of the book 'Atoms in Space and Relations Between Them - An Exhaustive Account of Existence'. "These cultists are no crazier than any other religious types, and have done far less damage than some I might mention. Take this opportunity to disavow all religion as superstitious nonsense, and throw your support behind reason instead. It's the perfect opportunity to end the tax breaks for people with imaginary friends, and funnel that additional money into the areas it can do some real good, like authors of popular science books!"

  • "All hail our glorious the Collective Chorus... or face eternal punishment!" shouts a wide-eyed bearded man in sack cloth waving a greasy tract. "Pay no heed to these sectarians, my liege, they have departed from the way of truth! Only we, of the Cult of Nationalist Divinity, have remained faithful in the face of their slanderous impiety. We know you to be an uncompromising and demanding god, intolerant of all false doctrine. We stand ready to convert the masses to your worship, by force if necessary! Starting, of course, with the insufferable heretics of the Cult of Divine Nationalism!"

Sadly, per canon, we've already been down this terrible route.

I have a very short fuse and I lost my temper pretty badly last night. Had to go around making apologies this morning to everyone I disturbed and/or yelled at in lab.

Nothing quite like punching a lamppost and yelling "FUCK!" at three in the morning to really get you in the mood to fix your code. :p

Indeed. After five hours in lab I found out that my code was incorrectly constructed and that I'd have to redo the bulk of my functions, meaning that around three hours later I was actually BEHIND where I'd started when I came to lab. Needless to say, that combined with people badgering me for help resulted in angry!Agy yelling at people and then stalking off to go vent some anger by punching a light pole. Didn't want to hurt a tree in the process.

As soon as you mentioned "tent revival", I immediately thought of True Detective.

And yes, Alsius. Been going through a Latin phase recently and I figured cold would be fitting as his middle name.

@Ceril, I posted up another one-shot a while back covering Septimus' first foray into the military and beginning his journey into the heart of darkness: The First Genocide

Such is the power of contextless quotes: alas, I didn't even know about it. :p

"The horror, the horror!" is a line from Heart of Darkness, which inspired Apocalypse Now, and loaned it that line. I strongly recommend both. And if you're gonna watch Apocalypse Now, make it a double feature with The Fog of War, for reasons which will become apparent.

True Detective's really great. Gritty, well-paced, and with thoughtful dialogue. Would recommend.

I'm not getting the reference, by the way. I just Googled latin words meaning "cold" and I picked Alsius as the most name-sounding of them all.

Slobo, ah. I wasn't sure if it was the movie or the Hindenburg so I Googied it. I need to incorporate the comic censorship into PL somehow!

Agy, yep. Ituum is 'go, proceed' or something like that. Sep is seventh. So, add in cold... I have no idea where I'm going with this. *laughs*
