It was an incredibly fun RP. viewtopic.php?p=10629653#p10629653. The only downside was that I ended up recapping people's posts in my own. One of our players suffering from Aspergers would get confused otherwise, and end up TGing me to ask for clarification all the time. So, with all possible patience, I ended up just chop/weaving posts into mine. He appreciated it. Meh. It was worth the hassle, although a pain in the ass whenever I was posting from my phone.

I've been designing uniforms for the soldiers, based on Revolutionary Continental Army uniforms, but the soldiers use bolt-action rifles.

I mean, I have Bolza-Rovia, and South Romagnia, but there's no real community for Medieval Tech, and no real niche for strictly WW2 tech, which is what Romagnia is, being a Mussolini-Era Italy knockoff with some German weaponry. with an early industrial nation, I want to try and do something. I can also go as far as WWI era, or whatever is good.

Then he'd need to wear an eyepatch on organic eye, and as we all know putting eyepatches on cyborgs is a cardinal sin of science fiction writing.

It's nice that it's endearing but it is sooooooo annoying to write. Breaks up my flow when I have to spend like 5 minutes writing one sentence because I'm unused to adding dashes. Ironically enough having a stutter in real life for once helps my writing - tells me where exactly to put the dashes.

Other than that, this shapes up very nicely. Nonhuman races can be tricky. Too close to humanity, and you end up with a person in a rubber mask rather than something that feels authentically apart from humanity itself. It helps to weave in unique cultural traits, but a common cheat is to have a reason for humans to influence their behavior.

I made the map with MS Paint and Paint.NET. That's all I use. It serves me well.

I started with a black & white mexico, and messed with the outlines, added some bits, then removed white with Paint.net and used layers. First came the ocean, then three layers for the land's green, desert, and mountains. I used gradients, and then an outline add-on for the shallow water, and finally used a canvas texture I keep for maps and flags by removing white and applying it over the whole thing.

Want me to send you a pic in tg for the soldiers uniforms? The soldiers don't have the cat ears and all that weirdo jazz yet

No, the most annoying fucking thing in the world is when strangers lose their patience and try to be "helpful" by finishing the words for you instead of giving you time to purge anxiety. Then shit just gets worse because you need to finish so they don't stick in words, and you end up closing your eyes tight and wishing you could throttle them.

It takes a while to get used to, but I love Paint.NET. The add-ons and layering are awesome. Still, good ole' MS Paint also has its pros over it.

It doesn't. The other option is the feedback devices. Oh, they work, but many people experience this quirk where they screw up vowel sounds. Badly. So instead of "synergy" it comes out "sn-ngy".
