Hearing the sounds of a whining horse and a man cursing, Oskar quickly realized his error. While he had been busy scolding his fellow Templars, the target had slipped away. "Damnit!" he yelled, "Kill the Assassin, but do it cleanly--we must not damage the package!" He and his companions bolted out of the inn, already drawing pistols as they heard the sound of a horse galloping away. Oskar narrowed his eyes in deadly concentration, struggling to make out the silhouette of a single rider speeding down the road. He fired a single shot with his revolver, missing his shot by several feet but hopefully startling the Assassin's horse.
As he and his fellow Templars gave chase on their own steeds, Oskar knew that if the Assassin were to cross the German border, the Apple would be lost. He would be in hostile territory with limited support and essentially no plan. That meant that the Assassin needed to be dealt with now, before it was too late.
Slamming his spurred heels into his horse's flanks, Oskar urged the beast to move faster. The animal screamed in pain but picked up its pace, and soon Oskar was within 100 m of his target. Again he fired at the Assassin's head, and again his shot missed (although by a much smaller margin this time). When he tried to take another shot, however, his pistol jammed. Oskar snarled in frustration; his firearm never jammed--this truly wasn't his day. Holstering the gun, he drew his saber and stuck the point into his horse, not enough to seriously wound the animal, but certainly enough to cause incredible pain. Again, his horse brayed with anguish, but again he succeeded in closing in on his prey. Pulling to within, five feet of his target. Oskar gingerely took his feet out of the stirrups, slowly crouched on his horse's back, and launched himself through the air at his opponent. With a mighty (and, as Oskar's entire body told him, quite painful) crash, he tackled the Assassin off of his steed.
"Your time is up, Assassin!" he roared as they both tumbled towards the hard ground.

Perhaps leaping from a moving horse and tackling a man from another moving horse hadn't been the greatest tactic. Oskar felt hot pain in his shoulder as the Assassin stumbled to his feet and slashed him with his cavalry sword.
"Fuck!" he groaned in pain, before drawing his own sword. The wound hurt like hell, but it wouldn't save the Assassin from his fate. Hopefully, the fellow Templars would arrive in a minute or so.
With an upward slash, Oskar grazed the Assassin's chest. He then followed this attack with a swift kick to the Assassin's knee.

Suddenly, his lungs were filled with smoke and his vision became a blur. Oskar choked, only too late realizing that the damn jackal had used a smoke bomb to cover his escape. The Templars' horses were caught in the blast, and one of them bucked its rider off as it brayed with fear. The Templar was thrown to the ground with a loud crunch, his leg clearly broken. With one last desperate move, Oskar grabbed the man's revolver from him, ignoring his comrade's screams of pain, and fired the entire clip after the Assassin.
Six shots rang out in the night, and then there was complete silence, save for the whimpers of the Templar on the ground. Oskar stood, staring into the darkness, completely at a loss for words. He had never failed a mission before, and here he was fucking up the most important assignment he had ever been given. The Master would not be pleased.
Flinging the spent revolver onto the ground, Oskar trudged back to his men. Without a word, he got on his horse, and rode off into the darkness. The ride home would be long and somber, but Oskar swore that he would never know the taste of defeat again. Next time, he'd rip the Assassin's heart out and tear the flesh from his bones.

General Grant rides into the Capitol to discuss means of Reconstruction with President Johnson, a man who he hated. As he rides into the city, a crowd awaits him, cheering and waving the Union flag as Hail Columbia is play'd by a band. "I forgot what it was like to be a hero" he thinks.
As he nears the White House, a hooded man walks in front of him, "Get out of the Way!" Grant yells, but the man begins to speak

"Well, sir. I am new to America. I am from the Russian Empire, and I have read so much about America. Your nation is wonderful. It has always been my dream to be here. But now that I am here, I find myself in need of work. Sir, if I were to be so bold, I would like to work for you as a servant at your home. Only if that alright, of course."

"Go straight to my home in Point Pleasent, and heres a spare key, it has my address on it, I forgot during the war, I was focused on capturing Lee. A train should be heading for Cincinnati soon, you can most likely catch it if you hurry."
Dear leader of the American Assassins,
I am a fellow Assassin who has come to America from Europe. I will keep this very brief. I would like to let you know that I am here as an Assassin and that I will follow your commands as you are the leader of the Brotherhood here. I look forward to further correspondence with you.
Faithfully yours,
CP

Clarence glanced to his left and spotted one of his Assassins carrying a letter to him. "Come Along General, We have business to discuss."
