Sharko Federation wrote:Nation Name: The Kingdom of Belgium
Head of State: King Philippe
Head of Government Prime Minister Elio di Rupo

Government Form: Constitutional Monarchy
Ideology: Free Market Capitalism
Foreign Policy: Belgium is described as a leading figure of North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the European Union, therefore, Belgium has allot of good relations with Europe and the Americas. Belgium's relations with Russia are pretty slim, and had soured greatly after Crimea was annexed by Russia, and still slightly tense with Russia after it was fully annexed, however, had diplomatic talks with Russia to ease tensions, so no military action was initiated. Belgium shares really good relations with Ukraine, and since improved, and wants Ukraine to join the EU and NATO. Belgium is recently beginning to support Democratic Republic of Congo despite it being a former colony. practically, Belgium shares great relations throughout the world with an exception to North Korea and Belarus, it just so happens the top relations is mainly France, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Guatemala, the United States, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda and Burundi. Belgium recognizes Scotland as an independent nation.

Civil Freedoms: 9/10 (Country has legalized Same Sex Marriage as of 2000 (second nation in the world), and has extensive freedoms to it's citizens. It has some tensions with Russian-Belgians after the 2015 Crimean Annexation)
Political Freedoms: 10/10 (It has been years since the political crisis, and Elio di Rupo ran a second term. The two sides of the Flemish and Wallonian parties had been calmed so much, Flanders does not seek to secede from Belgium anymore.)
Economic Freedoms: 10/10 (Belgium is a free market, and is like other Western European democracies in terms of economic freedoms)

Military Branches Belgian Land Component, Belgian Air Component, Belgian Naval Component, Belgian Medical Component, Belgian Peacekeeping Corps
Each Branches' Size: 21.000 military personnel; 4.600 civilian personnel (Belgian Land Component), 10,200 personnel (Belgian Air Component), 3,500 personnel with 4 frigates, 9 minehunters, 7 support vessels (Belgian Naval Component), 3,500 personnel (Belgian Medical Component), 5,100 personnel (Belgian Peacekeeping Corps)
Military Description: The Belgian military composes of five components, the Land Component, Air Component, Naval Component, Medical Component and the recently new Peacekeeping Corps. The only Belgian military component that does not do military action is the Peacekeeping Corps, where their job is to infact, assist countries that are in need of assistance. Despite it being non-military, the Peacekeepers can gain metals and honors like in the military.

Description of Your Nation's Economy: Belgium's major imports is raw materials, machinery and equipment, chemicals, raw diamonds, pharmaceuticals, foodstuffs, transport equipment, oil products and exports being machinery and equipment, chemicals, finished diamonds, metals and metal products, foodstuffs. Belgium's economy is very well done and is one of the highest in the world. Belgium is pretty well developed in terms of their economy and is pretty well known for tourism and cuisine.
Description of Your Nation's Government: Belgium's government is mixed between Flemish and Wallonians. The Prime Minister, Elio di Rupo is the first openly gay and non-Wallonian and non-Flemish person in Belgium's history to be in public office. He was the one who broke the barriers between the two, and in most recent years, the two sides had been co-operating regardless of their region origin.
History of your nation from now until 2014: (or whenever the RP is currently at) Same IRL Belgian history.

Goals for the Nation:
  • Get all the rebel groups out of the Congo.
  • Help maintain a few military bases in the DRC.
  • Continue to not recognize Russia's claim on Crimea and support Ukraine.
  • Assist Ukraine into rebuilding it's economy.
  • Ensure the EU is still doing well, and that they are following directions.
  • Keep an eye on Germany, as per usual, even if they are "good" with them now.
  • Send financial aid to third world countries, namely Guatemala and DRC.

RP Experience:
RP's you are currently in: Cold War 5.0, Serbia Cracksdown On Communists,
RP's you were in the past: Many, 30+ Or More.
Link to best (or good) RP sample: WIP
How active will you be?: Very.
Why'd you choose this nation? Belgium holds a high amount of influence in the EU despite it being smaller than some of it's neighbors. Belgium actually has much more influence than lets say, Germany. If you think about it, Belgium, Luxembourg, Monaco, and some other "unimportant" nations are actually pretty powerful. Luxembourg and Monaco are the center of Europe's economy, and Belgium hosts MANY world organizations. Belgium also does allot of UN missions and also assists greatly in NATO. I feel that Belgium should be on the list because of how strong of a voice it has, and how much it can influence other European countries. In addition, many famous people are born in Belgium, and of course, it's multilingual, and has allot of civil rights. Oh yes, Belgium DOES have allot of this, evidence of this is that Brussels called the "Capital of Europe", which could very well mean, Belgium is the center of Europe's major politics. After all, if Amsterdam was like that, that would be the capital of Europe yes? Allot of meetings are held in Antwerp or Ghent or Brussels for matters regarding many things. Trade Agreements, Peace Agreements and many other things, all hosted in Brussels or Antwerp. So why not? Belgium is a pretty powerful nation despite it's military power being small and it's land size being small too. But don't underestimate small countries, sometimes they can outsmart, and outmaneuver people. Remember, numbers do not matter.

429 - Do not remove. This is for tracking purposes.

I'm flattered! He used my Belgium app from the previous RP! <3
