But Lincoln, a Templar, was killed by the Assassin John Wilkes Booth. Now both sides rush to influence the new president and ensure America becomes part of the grand plan.

Wait, Lincoln was born into a frontier family, so he was not "worthy" enough for the Templars, so how could he be a Templar?

The Templars don't discriminate based on upbringing. They do it by merit. Stalin was a poor Georgian and he became a Templar. Hitler was just a corporal. Haytham was the son of a common born pirate.

Oh... so won't that make Grant a templar? Seeing as he was the Commander of all Union forces during the War...

I doubt the Templars wouldn't try and contact him. But maybe he resisted. Maybe he betrayed them. You decide.

Could you wait until 1870 to be historically accurate? Time will progress in this RP so don't worry about taking a few years to do things.

The French and Germans were pretty close to having war, as seen here.

If the British hadn't tried to negotiate a treaty, they would have gone to war. But if you want it to be in 1870, sure.

Well the RP starts only four years before that.

When enough people post in the IC, I'll fast forward a few years to another historical event that will serve as the setting. Being in the middle of historical events is what makes Assassin's Creed so great. For example the next time jump will be to 1870.

So the Franco-Prussian war will be the setting?

It will very soon be a big part of it. But you can do things across the world.

Perhaps the Templars can be influential in Johnson's impeachment?
