Hmm, now that I think of it. It would be an interesting twist if he found himself falling in love with Catherine. He has to fight these feelings in order to stay focused on the Assassin Cause. Eventually, he warms up and expresses his feelings. Only to have his heart crushed when he finds out Catherine is a Templar.

That would be somewhat interesting.
