Alright Connor Dropped it in the Ocean, I wouldn't think he would keep the Brotherhood uninformed and his crew would spread word, otherwise how did the Templar Franklin Roosevelt get it...someone took it out before hand.

Connor dropped it into the ocean as the closest thing to destroying it. I really don't think he ever wanted anyone to find it again.

But in Assassin's Creed canon the Templars do find that Apple at some point. Why not in 1870?

2nd:True But what about his crew, they would have witnessed, it and he couldn't stop them from whispering it at some point. which Now makes me think it was a bad idea of Connor to do that, Not telling the Brotherhood I mean, as They could have protected it still, and only they would know then and could keep it safer, than leaving it..waiting for the Templars to manage to find it again.
3rd: Eh Why Not, American Brotherhood is desperate though for an Apple to Protect and for a moment use, so that they could rebuild after the attempted Assassin Purge during Civil War, to end the Templar Tyranny leading the nation

He was raised in a Templar Family, his father, and his mother was a Templar, and almost all his ancestors are Templars. He was considered the black sheep of the family even before he joined the Templars. He is a primary target of the Templars, due to his First Civilization ancestry, he is currently being sheltered by the French Assassins, in the Paris Catacombs, the rest is up to you. For more information on MY character, he's on page 11.

...Swimming...pulling off an Edward Kenway (Diving Bell)...There is still an Assassin Fleet, much Smaller than It once was but..still
