Nevermind, I fucked up my first relationship within the first 24 hours by telling my mother (since I don't have a drivers' license) and long story short she's actually diligent on getting me to a psychiatrist now since the person I'm with identifies as androgynous and I probably won't be able to maintain the relationship due to my mother being an ass. No, not "she's not the right one for you" concerns, the reason why she's being an ass is because the concept of not telling absolutely everyone in the family (read: everyone I am financially dependent upon) in the least sensitive way possible is alien to her. So basically there's a 95% chance I'm going to have to give up on my first relationship ever unless I want to risk poverty for the rest of my life.

You may be wondering, "why in god's name he would tell his mother instead of his father if she's going to react like this?"

The answer is simple: My mother's a right-wing pseudo-Wiccan hippy. My father is neurotic and a wannabe-neoNazi who can't mention Obama without using the n-word at least once. I have better odds with the Republican that thinks everything is the fault of spirits and inexplicable space magic than the Republican that thinks everything is the fault of gay Muslim alien lizardmen.

I really should have just kept the whole relationship in the closet and said she was just a friend that I want to visit. I fucked up, man. Now I'm back to being isolated in the middle of nowhere.

Also, in case anyone is wondering why I'm saying "she" and other feminine (pro)nouns instead of "they" and other neutral attempts, it's because she's completely fine with any animate pronouns and, well, I'm mostly straight so it's probably more of a subconscious reason why I'm more comfortable with it. Also I dislike using "they" in the singular.

@Nek: That sucks. Personally, I just had a huge fight with my mom last night about gender (she's having trouble getting over the whole "penis =/= man" concept), so I can relate to having parents who don't understand shit. Yours sound worse than mine, though, I'll be honest.

Though as a former Wiccan, I'm not sure how there can be such a thing as a Wiccan conservative.

I write "pseudo-Wiccan" because every Wiccan I've come across that I've told about the situation says "what the fuck is their problem" or some variant of that phrase. If you're wondering why I keep saying mojo instead of energy or other things, it's because every week some other term for the same concept they're referring to is used. Balance of the universe/nature/etc., magic, psychics/mediums/etc., energies, chakras, spirits, pseudo-scientific interpretation of string theory involving ghosts and aliens (That wasn't sarcasm.), and more. "Mojo" is a rather accurate word for all this.

I have the same problem, I have few parenting/family horror stories which aren't second hand. (Though, I do live in china, so I end up hearing a lot about "Tiger Moms"). So I'm not entirely sure what to say... Most of my friends parent problems come from high expectations and academic pressure.

Anyway, I hope that this doesn't screw up things with her.

Today I went to an anime convention, cosplaying as Kuranosuke from Princess Jellyfish. It was fun, and I got lots of positive comments on my appearance and costume (people even asked to take my picture, and one person wanted a hug). :3

Valentine's Day crossed my mind maybe two times.

If we're all sharing stories, I've got my eye on a smart, pretty girl right now. Thing is, I dated her once or twice a couple years ago back when I was massively shitty and basically just stopped calling her (read: massively shitty). I've pulled myself together now, but she's almost definitely written me off in that category and I don't want to make things weird. I mean, maybe it's a self-esteem thing (and it sure as hell doesn't measure up to the shit you guys are dealing with), but I keep on looking back at the last couple years of my life and thinking "wow, if I met that asshole I'd punch him in the face" and wondering why nobody bothered to do just that, and if that's the impression I left then it would be stupid to ask her again.
