Well, aside from the ad thread, you can TG people you know to see if they're interested, advertise it here (I believe it's still allowed, though probably less effective), or put a link in your sig like someone else suggested.

I use Wikipedia whenever I need mythology/supernatural and mythological/supernatural accessories.

Wikipedia is a good resource to get a basic idea for any topic, really.

Well, aside from the ad thread, you can TG people you know to see if they're interested, advertise it here (I believe it's still allowed, though probably less effective), or put a link in your sig like someone else suggested.

RP's Overarching Concept: Super-Cops in Japan fighting terrorists and serial killers and shit.
Genre/s: Neo-Noir, Cyberpunk, Mecha*, Action, Black Comedy
Character or Faction Based: Character
Detailed Description: This RP takes place in Tokyo in the year 2048. A decade ago, violence exploded between India and China, and since USA and Russia had ties to both, they really couldn't do much to help, though they eventually both sided with India. Just in time for the two nations to really start going at it. This hurt everyone equally, even Japan, which remained neutral in the war even up to its end in 2045, when Beijing fell.

Now, several years later, Japan remains in an economic slump as the rest of Asia licks its wounds. Activity from nationalists, communists, and Republicanism is at an all-time high, and terrorism going up with them, especially in the capital of Tokyo. As a result, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police has authorized the creation of an elite division of officers, who will work with the most state-of-the-art equipment, including a set of four mechs - the only ones in any police force in the world, and to be used exclusively when shit truly hits the fan.

Which is quite possible, since the Imperial Diet is starting to have serious discussions of repealing Article 9 and fully creating a Japanese Military. They will deal with the nastiest cases of Tokyo: Terrorist activity, serial crimes, mass rioting, and drug dealing. And cleaning out the poorer sections of Tokyo of crime.

Need Help With: Some worldbuilding tips would be lovely. As would help with translation/Japanese. I'd like a name for the 'elite division', and Google Translate is being unhelpful as it usually is with Asiatic languages.

RP's Overarching Concept: An alternate world sat upon a moment of great change. An expedition to the vast frozen wastes of the southern continent unearthed a great cache of Ancient and advanced technologies, triggering the appearance of similar vaults in other parts of the world.
The players take on the role of small-medium sized nations in he midst of a new age of technological upheaval. The powers of the world race against each other to gain the advantage presented by these artifacts, and the opportunity for a nation to take its rightful place at the head of the world appears - for those who are willing to take it.
Genre/s:Conquest, Dice, Nation-building
Character or Faction Based:Faction based
Detailed Description: The world in which the player finds themselves is one in the midst of a technological revolution, caused by the uncovering of artifacts from ages long since forgotten. The objective (other than having a good time and making a cool story) is to ensure your nation's dominance over its neighbours. At the start of the RP, the player isn't one of the largest factions on the planet, with some of the older Superpowers reigning supreme, however, over time the player would catch up with - and overtake - these NPCs.

Now, if I'm absolutely honest with you, as much as I'm interested in the story of the RP, it's really a means to an end. What I wanted was to have an RP inspired by the likes of Civilization where a player guides their nation through history, but in a setting of their own creation. I've hashed together a bunch of mechanics for this (i.e. dice) and the nations will have to manage their economies, militaries and research throughout.

Need Help With: My single biggest worry is whether or not there's an interest here for a 'dice' style RP. The thread would go along like a normal RP in terms of posts, but the difference would be that actions have values. My reasoning for this is that sometimes its cool to have the mechanics built for your creation, and NS doesn't let you do that generally imho.

Thoughts, criticism and rotten tomatoes appreciated!

There's an interest in dice-style RP's. The ones I've mostly seen are character ones inspired by Olthar, but G-tech's done a few nation/faction ones.

That's good to know. Another thing that just popped into my head: how about the passage of time?
In all the RPs like this which I've been in (not much) time passed almost relatively, with some players moving along a single party or gala whilst others were RPing changes like the construction of a new railroad.
Also, how about the passing of long periods of time affecting characters? Again, in my experience we just ignore this, assume that the character lives suitably long or what-not. But, throughout the course of the RP the nations could potentially go from industrial revolution to the atomic age, far longer than a single lifespan...would you recommend just making it clear that characters age and die?
