There is no way in hell you'd be able to hold India. The minute they see Chinese soldiers you'll see hundreds of millions of angry Indians rushing at you with Kitchen knives.

Also good luck invading over the Bengal delta. You can't move supplies over without roads, which you need to build.

The Khmer will not have a whole lot of trouble taking or holding it. India is a disunified mess of petty fiefdoms with little to no nationalism or national identity, which means no, millions of Indians with kitchen knives will not be attacking the Banheban (not full Chinese) soldiers. Many Khmer soldiers are also Hindu. These facts also mean, as long as I don't dramatically raise taxes or commit any serious atrocities, I probably won't have that many rebellions. The Khmer are going to do just what the British did: divide and conquer. Those who surrender quickly will become Khmer vassals and be more slowly assimilated, while those who resist will be crushed by the Khmer, or their new maharaja puppets.

As for supplies, the Bengal delta has lots of rivers, which means the Khmer, who have lots of boats (Khmer+Vietnamese+Chinese=lots of boats), will have no trouble supplying their not-actually-that-humongous army. They also have elephants, which means the relative lack of roads won't be too much of a problem, and lots of support personnel, and a few airships to boot.

And the Royal Army will obviously not be having trouble with any Indian militaries. In my next post i think I'll post the fall of Chittagong and Khmer diplomats arriving in Varanasi.

However, the middle class is continuing to absorb more 'Yangui' (natives) as they move into the cities and earn a higher keep.
Infrastructure: In Shenguo proper, the roads systems around the main population centers are well kept and new. However, in more rural areas, paths are extremely difficult to navigate and treacherous. Some communities even use the ancient roads built by the Incas.
Army: Not very strong, focused on defense. Approximately 0.02% of the population are enlisted in active and reserve forces.
Navy: Very strong, one of the largest powers in the Pacific - maintains a wide reach from the Aleutians to Polynesia, very modern, and large. Approximately 0.04% of the population are enlisted in the navy.

History:

In 1502, a Chinese explorer from the Empire of Khmer discovered the South American mainland, naming it 'Shenguo' - Deep Country. In later voyages, Khmer explorers navigated the long Chilean and Liman coasts, claiming the Galapagos, Easter Island, Hawaii, and Polynesia. Khmerian Zhengfu, a Chinese phrase for 'conquerors', later fought several major battles with the indigenous Inca population, resulting in the complete annexation of the South American West Coast into the Empire. Settlers of mainly Chinese origin from the Khmer began arriving in droves after a major rebellion in (name) province of Khmer, resulting in resilient communities popping up all along the South American West coast. Natives proved to be resistant to Chinese diseases, so a sort of 'creole' (Chinese/Native) mix became common throughout Shenguo. Others followed after rumor of gold to be found in Shenguo was circulated. The colony began to prosper and grow, with more land claimed in Southern Argentina. Thus, Shenguo acquired two coasts - one with the Atlantic, the other, Pacific.

In 1786, colonists, all over the Pacific territories and the mainland (Shenguo), mainly of Chinese origin, gradually began to resent strict rule from Guangzhou. Multiple petitions were signed for autonomy. Khmer initially refused to colonists' demands, but eventually (after several large riots in the main cities of Xiluo (Hilo), Gujia, and Tangshan (Lima) ), agreed to give the colony partial autonomy, including it's own parliament (or People's Hall) to decide domestic affairs - however, the King would still have full jurisdiction over Shenguo. This still wasn't enough for the colonists, who wanted full independence. Khmer, seeing the fruitlessness of keeping subjects who resented being subjects to the Emperor, recognized the colony's declaration of independence in 1801. Shenguo would be made up of three provinces - Yongdao (Polynesia), Zhongdao (Hawaii, the Galapagos, and Easter Island), and Longguo (Coastal Peru, Chile, and southern Argentina).

The new nation experienced an economic boom with the discovery of silver ore in much of central Longguo. Trade with neighboring countries began to exponentially increase, while Shenguo territories in the pacific, specifically Zhongdao, became a center for goods going from North America to Asia and vice-versa. In 1843, with the outbreak of civil war in Nihon, hundreds of thousands of Japanese immigrated to the nation, mainly settling in areas of Zhongdao and northern Longguo. It is estimated that nearly four million Japanese fled to the country. This sparked extreme racial tensions among the Chinese, who feared that they would become a minority with the booming half-and-half native population and Japanese. The famous Mao Zhong was elected to the office of Prime Minister in 1871. He began the first apartheid, or Geili, government in Shenguo. Millions of Natives, Japanese, and Hapas (Half Native, half Chinese) were forced out of cities into segregated districts in all three provinces. They were restricted from multiple basic rights, and given menial jobs. In the first thirty years of apartheid, the economy stagnated as the labor pool shrunk. Eventually, in 1910, the apartheids began a series of reforms that slowly gave back minorities their rights. In 1916, fearing mass social unrest, Prime Minister Yani Li Ba abdicated, and with it, the apartheid system collapsed. Millions of Japanese, Hapas, and natives were re-integrated to normal society, and the economy took off once again. Shenguo is now a major power in the Southern Hemisphere, and hopes to expand it's influence economically and diplomatically.

History:

Beginning in the early 16th century during the discovery of the Americas, numerous expeditions from all corners of Europe were sent to bring word of its riches, primarily from the seafaring nations did greater overseas empires rise from these adventures. However, economic conditions in the German states brought about a large exodus of Germanic and Frisian peoples in search of land, which became scarce as rising populations and increasing centralization throughout Europe's 14th and 15th centuries produced many landless serfs.

This general movement fueled many German explorers to begin launching expeditions in the new world, at first in search of gold like many others with the hope of finding enough gold to change the balance of power by bringing more land into the hands of the burgher class. A budding class of merchants, tradesmen and guilds used their influence to begin mounting larger expeditions until the establishment of the first permanent settlements and forts on the coastline of Brazil in the mid-1500's. The primary profit was at first harvesting the brazilwood trees, and soon after the establishment of plantations and the use of slave labor imported from Africa brought an increasingly large profit, as exports of sugar and coffee began to increase exponentially to Europe. More German settlers also came to Brazil, seeking cheap land.

At first these outposts and plantations were privately owned by individuals and collections of individuals, who slowly began to organize themselves into larger units. The Hanseatic South Indies Company is one of the hallmarks of German colonization during this early period, using cheap north German ship labor to establish steady sea lanes between Lubeck and the new colonies. In addition to this, various colonial companies began to sell captaincies within their companies to nobility from Austrian and south German lands, where disenfranchised nobles with strong heads for administration would pay a fee to be enfranchised and gain an opportunity to become a major landowner in the New World.

Soon afterwards, the colonies became slowly self-sufficient, depending less on their home cities for supplies and exporting far greater amounts of product to Europe than they were importing. As a result, companies began to bankrupt themselves as their system of selling captaincies and land to franchise individuals succeeded in settling large numbers of Germans overseas, but failed to bring in revenue as they began to stop selling supplies back to their colonies. In 1632, the Hamburg Amazon Exploration Company went bankrupt and was divided up by other competing companies settling along the Amazon river and its basin. The Hanseatic South Indies Company became the dominant power in the area, and introduced several high-ranking nobles into the region to manage the new administration. The lack of a centralized state and the egalitarianism enforced by serfs and lords living and dying to settle this new region had begun to sew the seeds for republicanism long before this event, but the true roots began to take place here. By 1634, Various plantations, towns and forts banded together and established the "Republic of the Amazon", and began levying troops to defend its new-found authority.

The Amazon War, ensuing from 1634 to 1637, established the Republic of the Amazon as an independent state capable of managing its own internal and economic affairs. The peace treaty reserved the right for the Hanseatic South Indies Company to manage the international relations of the Republic, however, which curtailed its early expansion. The trend would remain, however, as failing colonial companies liquidated their assets and began to entrench themselves in the territory they have settled. Beginning in 1675, the majority of Brazil was carved into numerous pseudo-Republics, governed by an oligarchy of aristocrats who held the shares in the original companies.

This would dominate the political atmosphere of Brazil for over a hundred years, and beginning in 1817 geopolitics began to shift once more. Rising German nationalism in Brazil and the "tripartite theory" of North Germans, South Germans and "Amazonas", those of mixed native and German/Frisian descent, began to rise. The theory outlined the three main races of Brazil as being different components of a class system that has evolved over the years to produce a highly efficient society. The tripartite theory outlined the north Germans as being the workhorse of the machine: they composed the workers, soldiers, leaders and researchers that form the backbone of Brazilian society. South Germans were the administrators, military commanders and commercial entrepreneurs, while the "Amazonas" were the farmers, sailors and laborers. Following this was a series of military disputes, political campaigns and peaceful negotiations that formed the period known as "Reconcilliation", taking place from 1809 to 1817, when the First Brazilian Republic was formed.

The Republic covered most of modern Brazil, and featured a strong legislature with a moderately powerful head of state. The First Republic was to be a conglomeration of all the Brazilian states and was to afford equal representation to all three races, but infighting and instability caused the state to collapse in just ten years. In 1827, the First Brazilian Empire was formed with the annexation of several rump-republics to the South, and the establishment of a strong executive branch that controlled all facets of the economy. Under the empire, a strong industrial foundation was laid, but this was reversed following the peaceful dissolution of the empire in 1831. This was when the Second Brazilian Republic was formed, or the modern "Union of Brazilian Republics".

Our response will probably be something like the rape of the President's daughter.

We don't quite understand the idea of etiquette, and we don't care for diplomacy unless it serves us favourably. We'll most likely send some soldier to Roma, and when he starts drinking wine and eating a turkey leg in front of the Pope, we won't understand why everyone is so disgusted.

In our culture, and our ideological beliefs, the weak bow to the strong, or the strong kill the weak. Because we believe in 'National Darwinism' we believe that if a nation cannot defend itself, or bring itself into existence through force, it doesn't deserve to exist. Also, we didn't carry out any actions against the citizenry, only the President. Our idea of Imperial Citizenship basically makes us respect the Lower Burgundians, because they are now citizens of the Empire of Britannia. Those who resist will be treated differently, however.

Our response will probably be something like the rape of the President's daughter.

We don't quite understand the idea of etiquette, and we don't care for diplomacy unless it serves us favourably. We'll most likely send some soldier to Roma, and when he starts drinking wine and eating a turkey leg in front of the Pope, we won't understand why everyone is so disgusted.

In our culture, and our ideological beliefs, the weak bow to the strong, or the strong kill the weak. Because we believe in 'National Darwinism' we believe that if a nation cannot defend itself, or bring itself into existence through force, it doesn't deserve to exist.
