I'm fine with this, though it appears Aelosia has been MIA since the start of the IC.

Hopefully she'll drop a note sometime next week at least.

sure, that change sounds good. BTW, bred, would it be okay if I kept up with the date and year of the IC, and occasionally throw some news about events in there that I 'received' by astropathic message? think I read captains tend to announce major victories and news like that over the ship's comms to keep morale up.

like. in transit we could hear about the 88th krieg siege korps making a decisive (so they think) blow in the siege of vraks, happened around 8.978.814; giving it roughly the right time to arrive in calixis sector by now.

Then sure, yeah. Actually as the Astropath your basicly the ship's timekeeper. Its up to you to attempt to verify the time when ever you arrive in an inhabited (or close enough) system.

still don't know if I have a choir though, and how many they are (might become nessesary should we enter combat).

You can assume you're the only one at this point. You can attempt to acquire choir members later.

If I'm not mistaken, a choir would be 3 additional astropaths for a vessel of our size, though we migh get more because of our job. No more than 5 though. I think normal warships have a complement of around 20...

I was dead wrong. Astropath's are rarer than I thought. there are generally only a few astropaths per fleet.

also depends on where you are. in the heart of the imperium one per vessel is probably normal for the navy. since there is often a relay station well within range to boost the message to wherever it needs to go. outside.. a choir becomes almost nessesary, since you'll be moving further and further from any relays. but, for now I should suffice, I can reach up to nearby system distances with some clarity, and communications within a sub-sector are faint but still there.

Well if we want to improve our fleet size we're going to need more astropaths and more navigators.

only if you take everything into the expanse at once. though even then only a navigator is absolutely needed (since the other vessels would be in vox range most of the time when not running through the warp). My suggestion would be to acquire a transport we can switch to if needed, maybe kit that thing out with a salvage rig so we can properly exploit any hulks we find/make.
whelp, forgot my position as choir-master added a bonus to astropathic messages. I can reach sector range with clarity (by the emperor's grace *coughfatepointcough*), and beyond that range the message would be faint but detectable. (+0 to the test if the astropath in question is meditating and in a place with dispersal scoops, -20 if he's not. -40 if he's in combat).

I still think a Universe would make the most out of a salvage rig. As it would be big enough to salvage most of the ships.

well, anything you salvage that you can't fit in the hull you can strap on outside. just means you really don't want to enter combat untill you drop the components off. but yeah, a universe would be a good ship for that.

Melor Rasvüt's Test = Common Lore (Koronus Expanse)
Untrained (2 base), Exceptional Intelligence (+2)
Roll: 5. No additional Information recalled.

On rarity of Astropaths: It's actually fairly common for mercantile vessel, particularly charter captains, to run without astropaths, or with a single Astropath for the entire convoy. Astropaths really only become critical if your need to stay in touch with the Imperium while away from any civilized planet. (Nearly every imperial world/system had a substantial Astropathic Choir)

In the Expanse (Note you have to succeed a Common Lore (Expanse) test to know this) however there are only 2 real Choir-Relays, Damaris and Footfall.

from the 2 intelligence increases I got from my origin path? it's my only stat that's changed, thought that came out pretty neutral. I picked up a ton of traits and such though.

anyone who doesn't want to hear the telepathic communication (telepath discipline basic technique requires no focus test but is only sending or receiving over short distances. good thing to find out though.) let me and bred know here and we can run an opposed willpower check. actually, scratch that check, I'll voluntarily fail that. (he's not going to push his power through the resistance when it's shipmates)

If I recall what you wrote correctly, one of the willpower increases and fellowship increases only apply when you're on the ship. Those are listed under Traits.
