unnatural inteligence is mainly a uge boost to anything that needs your intelligence bonus, as that gets doubled. for explorators thats mainly to do with stuff that you get later, I think?
Curious and industrious, PMT sharks in an FT setting.
factbook is WiP. but a basic overview of our species is below:
population (remaining, estimated) 6000
State religion: not enforced but every member of the species follows the Cult of Pas Mathéma in some fashion.
Goverment type: Council of 5 heading a technocratic fuedalist society
Govermental sovereignty: protectorate of the 44th independant legion; large independant but ceding to them for interstellar politics and trade
Military power: on an FT schale next to nothing, since our total number of starships is for now 0.

Carch, friendly anthro blue shark. got any kalamari?

Then theoretically I should be doubling my Exceptional intelligence bonus making it a 9 that I subtract from the roll or whatever if we're doing it that way.

So how are you adding our bonuses in?

Considering you own the damn ship, you can do pretty much whatever you want, save for going into the upper crew's quarters.

no. that's not how it works. it got a little more complicated then the base game, due to us simplifying things (does that make sense? hear me out.)
the base game is played with a d100 and d10's. and characteristics are a 10-based numeric. say.. 54. that is the number rolled against with skill tests (with a d100, roll under it to succeed). the intelligence bonus, in this case 5, the number of 10's in the characteristic, is used for other things. like how many people can benefit from certain talents, or how far certain things can reach. unnatural characteristic x2 doubled the bonus (in this case 5*2=10) but not the base characteristic.
since that is kindof fallen away with the simplification, since you succeeded it acts as though you succeeded better then your roll would indicate.

and technically, the rogue trader can go where he wants on his ship too, as he is only second to the emperor himself on board. won't make many friends if he just barges in though.
as for what his room would be like.. depends.. what does he like to see? opulence? piety? simplicity? does he go for a very rough and ready kind of style, or a more comfortable one, does he like decorations (tapestries/carpets/gilded things) or does he pprefer bare steel?

Different kind of bonus. What I'm doing with the standard rolls is basicly extensive rounding to the nearest 10. The way unnatural intelligence works is that you count the "Intelligence Bonus" (normally the 10's digit of a normal stat) and double it, but only for matters that involve the "Intelligence Bonus". Otherwise you simply count as achieving a degree of success more than you ordinarily would have, so long as you succeed. One of the reasons I let you have it at this early stage is because the "Intelligence Bonus" doesn't come up all that often. There are also some tasks, such as memorizing a sequence of numbers or doing mental math, that I wouldn't have you check, though I would require a check from others.

Short version: you'll generally complete intelligence based tasks faster and more efficiently than others, but unnatural intelligence doesn't guarantee you success on intelligence based checks, particularly knowledge.

@Pruss

They can be outfitted essentially how ever you'd like. In all likelihood they were originally the Cardinal's quarters from when this was a missionary ship, although they'd be redecorated. Expect it to have 6-8 standard (~30 sq m) rooms. (Likely no kitchen, and not counting bathrooms)

EDIT:
@ Both
Or, ya know, what Carch said.

Though he didn't join the Korps like the rest of his brethren, Viktor is a stickler for Krieg traditions, so his room has a small shrine to both the Emperor and the Omnissiah, and he has dozens of weapons dotting the bed wall, though most of these weapons cannot function.

@Bred- Would it make sense for Viktor to wear a gas mask, like most of Krieg blood, most of the time ?

after all, apparently one rogue trader announced watch changes by having the first officer ride through the hallways on a grox of some sort playing the bugle. not too sure about the grox, but something similar anyway.
yeah.. rogue traders get away with a lot. should make the social interactions interesting though.

As long as you give me an end date (which basicly you did) I'll NPC him for the duration of the 'Vacation' and start the 2 week clock the period you're supposed to return. Just expect they'll probably be fairly background while you're away. If you don't think you'll be interested in picking him up again, however, I'll work on how to remove him.

That was literally the opposite answer I was hoping for. I know how the game originally works. Hell I made Annerette in it and she has a whopping 12 bonus for intelligence. Her other stats were ok, but still. 12. I'm trying to

And the Skittarii wouldn't be very happy if you burst into Annerette's room. And no one likes it when Skittarii aren't happy.(Especially the Skittarii) :p
Besides, there isn't much of a reason for him to barge in on any of the rooms that I can think of.

I like Bred's TLDR.
I'll just tell you when I'm making a test.

And now a blow by blow reaction to what Pruss just said.
