For example, Great Britain has a population of 60 million now compared to 5 in the Middle Ages. Same land, same fertility, vast difference in technology that allows for a higher population.

The middle ages were a very long time ago. 200 years ago our world population was 1 Billion. It's now 7 Billion. I just don't think that's a very good example of fertility, because that was a global trend, areas like India blew up because of medical advances, they had good agriculture for Millennia (Indus/Ganges/Bengal Delta/Kerala....) .

And the plague, you can't forget the plague that destroyed 1/3 of our pop.

I don't usually monitor what type of land each player is taking. I must say, however, that dodging your neighbors because you want to expand without fighting is dumb. You have to be ready to fight for your land and not to just snake around others. Please, Red, stop expanding into unclaimed territory if you're not gonna fight anyone.

Because the people talking now aren't the same ones who were saying Relikai had too many people. Strangely enough, we are not all a hive mind. I had no problem with Relikai's numbers, but the matter was resolved before I could make any comments about it. And certain other players made the discussion rather hostile.

Because lots of other players are still doing it. He's hardly alone. I just went through and did the last round of map updating, the vast majority of it was expanding into lands either given up by former players or into NPCs.

Brief Description of your nation's History: The Sviess were originally a group of nomadic people who formed along the Western Coast of Europe, what we know as France. When the Silveriis came, however, the Sviess moved eastward in order to keep from being conquered by the Empire from the South. However, they could not run for long. As such, they settled to the south of Lac Ganeveu around 1,000 A.D. Here, they formed the Kingdom of Sviessland, with Chester I being crowned King of the Sviess. From here, the people of this nation have been attempting to keep powerful neighbors from invading and conquering the Sviess. This has been a challenge, however, due to the small size of both the nation and the military within. (Sorry for the crappy backstory, I'm having a creative block at the moment)

Most, however, are benign and are surprisingly nice in comparison to other nations. When a King or Queen dies, their first born become the next leader. If that fails, then their nephew or niece are next inline for the throne, and so on. If there are no immediate heirs to the throne from the next generation, then the deceased King or Queen's siblings are crowned.
Brief Description of your nation's populace: The people of Sviessland are a happy and kind group of people, although they are strong when united. Think of them as Canadians or a similar group of people.

1. The Byzantines were at their height in 565 AD. There were more people in 1300 than 565. I have more land in 1300 than the Byzantines did in 1300. Ergo, I'll have a higher population than a real one did.
2. Everyone who borders me is inactive other than Galnius, who just popped back in recently. And as soon as he popped back in, we started discussing a PVP war. I wasn't going to stop expanding because of a lack of active players bordering my nation.

So don't comment negatively about the situation when clearly you don't have all the facts, okay?
