None of the world wars were 20 years long. I was thinking multiple small wars starting with the 1878 Russian war with the Ottomans and the British, ending in a confrontation about the length of an IRL world war between all of the powers.

Western Europe was Winning Until 1882, then Russia and Austria started Kicking Ass! Then in the 90's, the Battles just got so bloody and so big that they just sort of ended. Russia lost 30 Million Men and has since been modernizing (We've got a lot of Great War Novels, and our own Car Company, Alexandros, for example). Russia has also been making Anatolia (Which they own now) Russian. I don't know what Western Europe has been doing since then, but Apparently Italy is becoming Fascist without Mussolini.

Oh, also this year, we gave the Pope Israel to satisfy him and keep him from Uniting Western Europe against him.

Technically we all know what is going on in everyone else's countries, everyones knows the pope funding Irish rebels in Ireland. But no one can act on it other than the Irish rebels. He's just giving Germany a fair warning that there is a terror group active within his borders.
