See, the problem is you're supposed to rule all of Egypt. The fact that your allowing any part of Egypt to be ruled by Separatists, trying to kill me and take over, is enough for me to say "Hey, you're involved! You gave them a base of Operations! They attacked me, from your territory! You fix this problem or there will be hell to pay!"

Controlling the Suez by surrounding it with settlements doesn't make any sense, you have jurisdiction over the Canal either way, and you control it. If I control Port Said, it's just a city that I have on the coast.

And it does make sense, holding the port cities on the canal helps to keep it under Italian jurisdiction.

It's more of a vacation than permanent. If war is gonna break out between France and Italy I have no choice but to run away really.
