Didn't I say something about players not being allowed to control NPCs?

It has-

-Historical precedent
-unofficial context insofar
-realism
-oh. Did I mention it is almost historically accurate?
I'm really tired

If you want realism, most of the mainline Rus(everyone but Bulgaria and Novgorod) would all be both family and allies.

Yes, and I'd really appreciate that being passed by me first, especially considering that it's certainly within the bounds of reason that things have happened after over 400 years from the POD.

Realism within the bounds of the defined scenario. You'll notice that there are a lot of glaring differences from RL 1250. ;)

If you wanted OTL realism, half of Russia would be Mongol already.

Listen Allen, neither pav nor I expect to retain our principalities past next next year. We are trying to put up the good fight. You seem to be going out of your way to make the Rus disunited, when, even with the POD, would require a dynastic change.

I just said I'd like to know about it first; I'm fine with the alliance, but as I said, NPCs are not controlled by players, and that means exactly what it means.

Also, sidenote on Bulgaria; expect little. They're basically a bunch of recuperating tribesmen who thought it'd be fun to masquerade as a principality.

I'm drafting my new IC post, but I'm not sure whether I should make the Cholan Empire capitulate to me first, or just have all of the Indian kingdoms surrender to me simultaneously.

:3

Srsly tho, how do you want me to do my missionary thang? Does the NPC rule apply to rural settlements? Can I control just the one settlement for illustrative purposes?

Been a while since I've RP'd in P2TM >.>

Oh no, Ogedei will not be partitioning Ryazan.

He will be conquering it.

The one assailing Ryazan is a mere four tulmens (tumens?) in strength.

For this era, I believe that puts that host at about forty thousand riders, though sources are a bit dodgy on the exact figure and whether or not that includes noncoms.

Why would Kiev march east against yet another nomad band raiding the frontier? It would have duties closer to home, methinks.

But yes, from a numerical standpoint, that coalition could perhaps match the numbers of Ogedei's host.

Kiev wants to look stronk from what Allen has been saying. Another power attacking her dwindling "vassals" is a direct threat to her.

True, perhaps. A force to match the numbers you suggest seems unlikely though, as no Rus' save Ryazan have any inkling that a force of many thousands is invading, rather than raiding. I'm sure Kiev does want to look strong, but to drain her lands of soldiers and send them such a distance seems unlikely, due to the need to maintain her own lands.

That's really a matter for Allen, though.
