I've been wanting to explain the average poltergeist's and demon's power levels for a while, so I'll do it now:
Most poltergeists are sort of like a mid-level Hollow in Bleach, a Familiar in Madoka Magica, or a lower-level witch in Soul Eater. A young poltergeist, however, is probably more like a low-level Hollow in Bleach, and has minimal magic.
Lower-level demons are sort of like mid-level witch in Madoka Magica, a mid-level witch in Soul Eater, or a high-level Hollow in Bleach.
High-level demons are sort of like a high-level witch in Madoka Magica, a high-level witch (bordering on Kishin-like power) in Soul Eater, or a Gillian Menos in Bleach.
