So they'll just lug around a giant generator for X/Y/Z power type.
Eeyup. And make sure to keep the suit away from Jeb.

No, not spandex, I mean, it will be the roughly same size as the user and have full functionality in each limb.Slorch wrote:So were going with spandex armor now... ok then... Just don't let the Eldar catch you or they might ask for it back.

I do plan on making the active protection a CIWS. It may be based off of a smaller version of the Iron Fist (hard-kill device made by Israel, known to hit things as fast as kinetic penetrators) or a laser based one for multiple uses (the US Navy was going to install one on a ship this year actually) and I also plan to have multiple units all over the suit. It will be form fitting (it would be a bitch to figure out where to cram everything but I'll manage) and have high survivability and retaliatory ability.

EXACTLY! SO MUCH THIS!
THeir main excuse is the Kaiju blue which is acidic blood from the Kaiju... which they never even gave a fuck about in the entire film...

I was referring to the small body size of a pony, it'll be a pain but I'll manage.Tribenicha wrote:Aelarus wrote:Now, we're working on a scale a bit different than the real world's, that leaves room for experimentation. Just looked through to get major things... plus it NEEDS to be really damn good.

Are you sure? There's not much room on a ponies body to place things, let alone keeping it convenient for fluid movement.Aelarus wrote:Why would we be tied down by modern tech? It may be the modern era but innovations can still happen, especially since Silver is an erratic genius of sorts.
Not tech, fucking science. You can't just have it happen. This stuff takes years of work and slow progress with experimentation (Which I hope you'll implement) not just a couple systems slapped onto a suit and call it good.Slorch wrote:

Exactly, and people try to tell me it's "realistic".

Well duh, you think I'm going to play this as a weekend project or something? It's a long project that started before Silver was even born.![]()
Pacific Rim was ridiculous. Under what circumstances was it a good idea to fight the monsters on their own ground and skill set?

I've already designed the framework myself.Tribenicha wrote:Hm, I guess we can start working on designs for it... have you got ideas for the outer layer of metal? I reccomend a heavy mixture of titanium-alloy and tungsten. That shit it STRONG.

The armor will likely be an alloy with aluminum and titanium, magnesium, or tungsten.

by Aelarus » Tue May 20, 2014 9:35 pm
I've never seen tungsten used to combine with titanium so I wouldn't know, but I'm looking for more rigid armor design, the suit is going to be made from smaller plates so it covers the body. The lager plates will likely be from rigid alloys while the smaller ones may be used with more pliable materials to allow for more flexibility.

I rather like the idea of plates better, besides, this is going to run on its own power source which I'd like to think of having something with cold fusion (pulling from Iron Man, it's surprising how much of the stuff behind it is based of real science, just exaggerated to epic proportions) in it.Tribenicha wrote:I reccomend we have scales on these plates of the armor, it will give even more flexibility to the armor, or you can just keep it more rigid.
So far it sounds well... Now, we need a power source to even give it power. I reccomned digital power for now... makes it much more simple.

I reccomend we have scales on these plates of the armor

Hardly, the stuff they pull from is all realistic but they go way out of scope of modern tech, in case you haven't noticed I'm basing this character's business off of it.Tribenicha wrote:Hm, Iron Man is pretty solid when it comes to being realistic (mostly)

The point is, you can technically say Iron Man is completely realistic but we just don't understand the technology fully yet much easier than with most other movies and I respect them for that hence why this is based off it.

I may start dreaming up some heavy elements that land in the island of stability zone and don't instantly dematerialize. I could also have the suit generate an energy field from the mass power generated in its reactor, even build the systems in small cooperative pockets so damage to one part of the suit doesn't cripple it, that way the suit can sustain heavy damage and still function.
There will also likely be a nanotube coating inside so Silver doesn't bash his skull if a rocket blows him into a wall.
Should I go for plasma or laser based devices?

by Aelarus » Tue May 20, 2014 10:32 pm
I could still do the classics, everyone likes a bit of the classics right?Cadonica wrote:Plasma. Laser is so 50s.
