Nowadays it's just a poison to our society, it poisons the drinker, changes their brain chemistry, helps tears many families apart, leads to death by either abuse, alcohol poisoning, and many other nasty things, and I like looking and sounding smart around people, I know how people act when drunk, I don't want that sort of stuff inside me, it just disgusts me, if prohibition was properly enforced, which I admit is a heck of a lot harder than it may seem at first glance, it would have succeeded, but because you had people getting greedy and selling the stuff and even worse, people who would pay for it, as well as the corruption, things just went south.

Dry counties, where beer isn't allowed to be sold, have a higher tendency towards drunk driving. Yeah. A lot more people die because religious whackjobs can't stand the thought of people enjoying themselves with a nice beverage.

A person who's going to abuse their spouse or kids while drunk is probably going to do it sober. An abusive asshole is an abusive asshole.

There are plenty of responsible people who are moderate in their drinking. You probably know someone who is and don't even know it.
