Nation Name: Assyrian State
Capital City: Aleppo
Claimed Territory:
Population: 7,000,000
National Flag:
Head of State: Emperor Burnabusiash III
Head of Government: Keeper of the Sepatarchy Aturaye V
Government Type: absolute monarchy under the protection of France
National Ideologies: Entrepot trade, Assyrian nationalism, Merchant statism
History:The Assyrian people are a Semitic race that originated in the Ancient Mesopatamia, the speak and write a isolate dialect of Eastern Aramaic. Assyrians are descended from the Sumero-Akkadian culture and civilization that developed in Mesopotamia, and are suspected to have originated in the Northern Akkadian lands which would be given the name Assyria. Over the years after the collapse of the Akkadian civilization, the Assyrians migrated west into what we call Syria in the Western Levant.
The modern Assyrian state was founded in the city of Aleppo by Assyrian rebels in the year 1367, who occupied the city from the Islamic Caliphate, which ruled Mesopotamia and the Levant. The Rebels , named the Legions for Assyria where lead by Burnabusiash Choldon, a silversmith in Aleppo, the founder of the ruling Choldon dynasty. Once the city was captured by the Assyrians they proclaimed the Assyrian State, which would crown Burnabusiash Choldon Aydon or Emperor. As Aydon he would be known as Burnabusiash the Magnificent.
The Islamic Caliphate was weak, and the Assyrian Legions quickly occupied Dimascus and Alawi. However the city of Homs withheld in Central Assyria, preventing the Assyrians from crossing into the Mountains of Lebanon and occupying the great port city of Byblos. Soon the Islamic Caliphate had lost all other territories in Assyria and focused all their efforts in keeping the city of Homs, there by keeping the Rich ports and cities of Lebanon.
Unfortunately the city of Homs would stay under the hold of the Caliphate until the third king after Burnabusiash the Magnificent. In 1401 the city finally fell, the city had been starving for years and finally the governor of the city opened the gates to the Assyrian Legions. The rapid expansion into Lebanon increased the naval ability of Assyria.
For hundreds of years afterwards the Assyrians would dominate trade in the Mediterranean, establishing contacts with the Mercahnts in Italy, Greece and North Africa. Three successive wars from 1678-1702 between Assyria and the aging Papal States established Assyrian hegemony in Italy. However like most great powers the majesty of Assyria began to fade. Though still a great merchant republic it was targeted by European forces as a potential colonial establishment. In 1714, a mere 12 years after establishing its Hegemony over the Papal States disaster struck in the form of France.
The French had always shown influence in Assyria, and by 1714 the Assyrians had lost all there great prestige. They had been bested by Italian merchants and European traders. Colonialism decreased the value of their once one-of-a-kind products. In 1714 on August the Third the Emperor of Assyria submitted to France establishing Assyria as a protectorate of France. Nationalism now stirs in Assyria, the Sepatarchy is dominated by pro-independence rulers and no-one can tell what the future will bring.

Uh...that land is kind taken.
Erm, gunpowder?
You keep it in well-sealed barrels, under tarps.
Then you load it in sections and fire.
Same principle as firing at sea, actually. Many fighting forces would likely have lacquerwork boxes for powder to keep it dry for long periods of time, only removing what was necessary for immediate opeartions.

Also, just a reminder: Don't believe your own propaganda. The Burmese have been assimilated into the Confederated Kingdom for more than 200 years, and officially entered it more than 250 years ago IC.

Ah, yes, I recall that from your history.
Even before your PoD though, there were hostilities between the two. C'est la vie.
