Hence my original proposal to give the OP position to Zark, while the other four watch over.

Zark can be primary OP. I have no problem with that. We should still use the Mentor group account (he has the password now) so that any of us can tackle issues that arise (in need of Moderation or coding or whatnot). I'm thinking Swith could write the OP because she loves to code and she excels at administrative things such as keeping OP/secondary posts updated.

This reminds me to request Mentor status for the P2TM account.

If only so accessing the subforum with it is easier on us all.

Swith: It's because you're so awesome. God himself refreshes the screen before he types just to see if Nightkill has written anything while he was off somewhere else.

That sounds good; though perhaps a bit of a hassle for Zark.

If he's willing to use the group account, I have no qualms.

I'll be fine. Worst that can happen is that I brainfart and forget to switch.

Or my laptop dies again. But I can always use my brother's to shoot a TG if that ever happens and I doubt it will.

If Zark finds himself incapable, Tilt and I can probably take over the day-to-day.

We considered you and Allen but we don't want to trip over a bunch of experienced players. We'll probably settle with just two for now. Still haven't ironed out all the details. That doesn't mean everyone else can't join. We need experienced players. It makes it easier to coordinate as a team if we use only a few ProPs to advance a story.

At this point, I'm concerned the RP will be inundated with experienced players who helped plan it, keeping out those who actually need the education.

[18:03] <Nat> We still need an actual plot, for instance.
[18:03] <Camicon> Fair enough.
[18:04] <Cer> Swith slapped something up in the thread but it was geared towards the original concept
[18:04] <Camicon> What are you guys leaning towards now?
[18:05] <Nat> I think Swith's plot structure is good; but it's got no meat on the bones.
[18:05] <Cer> viewtopic.php?p=19498390#p19498390 is all we have so far with no meat on it
[18:05] <Cer> Do we add the meat as we go?
[18:06] <Nat> Well, it's probably best to have an antagonist and a goal in mind.
[18:06] <Tiltster> My feeling is we should maybe do the team exercise first? The new players are one team and the six (or seven, if Nightkill wants in, or however many) are the other?
[18:06] <Tiltster> That might also give us time to work out a more serious plot.
[18:07] <Cer> Team exercise?
[18:07] <Tiltster> The training exercise in the second paragraph.
[18:07] <Zark> Going with the exercise first is a good idea, but I don't think we should do it to stall, we should work out the goal first.
[18:07] <Swith_> Sorry guys. I'm on the phone. The antagonist was the original headmaster
[18:07] <Tiltster> That too.
[18:07] <Swith_> trying to get revenge.
[18:07] <Nat> Hmm.
[18:07] <Nat> I don't know if that's interesting enough; comes down to who he is.
[18:08] <Tiltster> I wasn't sure how far we were along, so I just threw that in there as a sheet anchor.
[18:08] <Zark> In any case it should be something simple.
[18:10] <Cer> My only worry with running a trial is that we'll establish too much thus continuity lockout
[18:11] <Zark> Random idea: Maybe the school has a core sustaining its existence between the worlds and this core is stolen to power a Multiversal Doomsday Device (TM) and the students have to recover it before the school falls apart or something like that. Maybe the Headmaster did it, to take revenge like Swith said.
[18:11] <Zark> Cer: We'll establish too much?
[18:11] <Cer> Could be. Send them out to bring it back? Or do we have it stolen while they're there?
[18:12] <Camicon> With regards to con.lock., if the character turnover is high enough though, that shouldn't be an issue. Are we expecting players to keep coming back for more?
[18:12] <Nat> Stolen while they're there; the school being attacked would be cool.
[18:12] <Zark> Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
[18:13] <Cer> Cami I'm not sure if we'd do a repeat
[18:13] <Cer> It would be nice to have something to fall back on but minds were tied between using this again in the future or else coming up with something new
[18:14] <Zark> Too early to figure that out in any case, I would say.
[18:14] <Cer> yes
[18:14] <Nat> Yeah; let's worry about the first PE first.
[18:14] <Zark> We'll burn that bridge when we get to it.
[18:14] <Cer> Having the school attacked would be interesting but by what? The headmaster alone? A small army?
[18:15] <Camicon> Well, Mister Jilted Original Headmaster would have some mooks on hand, wouldn't he?
[18:15] <Nat> Definitely.
[18:16] <Zark> Maybe not an army, but enough to keep a bunch of students at bay, probably.
[18:16] <Nat> Then there's the fear-monster concept we were discussing in the thread, but that should probably be its own thing.
[18:16] <Cer> He could but what about the teaching staff? It would be good to keep them out of it so it doesn't turn into noobs sitting on their hands while we battle
[18:16] <Nat> The teaching staff can be preoccupied with fighting him while the rookies face his goons.
[18:16] <Zark> Well the noobs would have their own battles.
[18:16] <Nat> Then, when the teachers and ProP's are vanished at the end, the rookies will fight the Big Bad.
[18:16] <Cer> Nat that works
[18:17] <Zark> That's what I was thinking too.
[18:17] <Zark> Maybe the teaching staff are faced by mini-bosses while the headmaster steals the core, or something like that.
[18:17] <Nat> Sounds good.
[18:17] <Cer> But why make it the school device? Why not the device that powers all of the Multiverse? Name it the violet stone in nod to Admin and let them save the forum, so to speak
[18:17] <Nat> That could also work.
[18:17] <Nat> Just store it in the school.
[18:18] <Cer> yes
[18:18] <Zark> Thus rendering the Multiversal Doomsday Device thing useless, but doesn't matter, sounds good. I just liked the name :P
[18:18] <Camicon> Someone mentioned disappearing students earlier, yes? Brainwashed into the Big Bad's army? Convinced to join maybe?
[18:18] <Cer> Tilt can you copy this so we don't lose track of thoughts? Or I can if you're busy
[18:18] <Tiltster> Will do.
[18:18] <Zark> Cami, the ones who'd disappear are the ProPs and staff, I believe, while the rookies fight the Big Bad on their own at the end.
[18:19] <Nat> Yeah; Swith's idea.
[18:19] <Swith_> Yep, It thins down experienced players (but not totally) so the noobs can step up and work their new skills.
[18:19] <Camicon> Ah. What about the rooks fighting a turncoat at some point? Yay/nay?
[18:19] <Cer> That would work.
[18:19] <Swith_> Which reminds me... how will we handle the players who just won't or don't improve?
[18:19] <Zark> Could work, I dunno. Who'd play that role?
[18:20] <Cer> CoOPs and ProPs?
[18:20] <Nat> The tournament sounds fine.
[18:20] <Cer> Swith I'm not sure
[18:20] <Zark> Well, yes, obviously xD I was wondering if we had anyone in mind to play that role, specifically.
[18:20] <Cer> Boot them, I suppose
[18:20] <Nat> As for your question, Swith; I suppose the only option we have is to let them ride it out, unless they become belligerent.
[18:21] <Nat> If we kick them, we could risk losing any potential shift in attitude down the road.
[18:21] <Camicon> (heheh. Cops and Props *giggle*) I'd agree with Nat. No point in booting them unless their causing issues
[18:21] <Swith_> That's true Nat
[18:21] <Zark> That's true.
[18:21] <Swith_> and we don't really want to do that.
[18:21] <Zark> If they're not a problem, we should just leave them be, even if they're not getting better either.
[18:21] <Cer> Alright
[18:22] <Cer> So a device is in the school. Do we do the explosion as planned to get them through one action part and then have the school raided?
[18:23] <Zark> Explosion?
[18:23] <Zark> Oh nevermind.
[18:24] <Zark> So that they return to the school after their trip through the other dimension and see the raid in progress, you mean?
[18:24] == Nightkill has joined #p2tm
[18:24] <Camicon> And then an explosion to stop further pursuit?
[18:24] <Nightkill> Hi.
[18:24] <Camicon> Hey Night
[18:24] <Cer> That or they return, go to town to hear tales about the old headmaster and then the attack happens that night?
[18:24] <Cer> Hey Night
[18:25] <Nightkill> What have we got going?
[18:25] <Nightkill> Hey guys.
[18:25] <Cer> The usual brainstorming
[18:25] <Nightkill> What have you got?
[18:25] <Cer> So far, there's a device that keeps the school/Multiverse stable. The old headmaster, out for revenge, steals it
[18:26] <Nat> In the process, the players must fend off a group of minibosses while the co-OP's and ProP's characters fight the Headmaster offscreen.
[18:26] <Zark> Cer: The attack happening that night sounds good to me.
[18:27] <Cer> A few of the ProP's characters should be first year students to help guide the other players tho
[18:27] <Tiltster> I was going to do something like that.
[18:27] <Nat> I think all of them should be.
[18:27] <Nat> Tilt and I may wish to maintain characters of both types; same for Zark.
[18:27] <Swith_> I agree with Nat. Leave the teachers to CoOPs and Mentors.
[18:28] <Zark> I would.
[18:28] <Tiltster> That makes sense, Nat.
[18:28] <Nightkill> Alright. Internet's being very slow, so I'll likely have to turn off my American proxy. I'll also likely have to close a few tabs, including this one. Update me on what happens, I'll try to pop back in sometime later when things work properly.
[18:28] <Swith_> Our ProPs are the ones we count on to motivate their IC character peers, etc.
[18:28] <Camicon> I'll fill whatever needs filling.
[18:28] <Tiltster> Transcripting, Nightkill.
[18:28] <Zark> Sorry to hear Night.
[18:28] <Swith_> Night, we're copying it.
[18:29] <Camicon> So, BigBad: what's his hometurf going to be like? Entrenched in some multiverse world that is sympathetic to his cause? Living in some pocket dimension of his own creation? Hiding in some long forgotten portion of the school?
[18:29] <Cer> Pocket dimension works
[18:30] <Tiltster> We could even do both?
[18:30] <Swith_> Sure, or an island even? Fortified?
[18:30] <Tiltster> That actually might be good.
[18:30] <Nat> Maybe make him tragic; his old home dimension was destroyed somehow, and now he lives in a pocket dimensio.
[18:30] <Swith_> I pictured him as a bit of an asshole who went mad, killed the student body and then lost control of the school. The Five happened upon it centuries later.
[18:31] <Swith_> I figured his army was tied to that dead student body. Hell, make him a necromancer?
[18:31] <Zark> He lives in a pocket dimension that has evolved into its own world, with a portal to it hidden in some long forgotten portion of the school
[18:31] == Nightkill has quit [Ping timeout: 198 seconds]
[18:31] * Zark nods
[18:31] <Zark> Necromancy sounds cool. It could allow for some kind of 'liberation' plot later on as well.
[18:32] <Cer> Zark or even an island which means he has to work to access the school
[18:32] <Camicon> Maybe the Power Device, is somehow the cause for the destruction of his original dimension? Maybe the school messed around with it when they shouldn't have?
[18:32] <Swith_> Zark ooooh that would be fun! Especially if he snags a few of our planted characters, too.
[18:32] <Cer> That works, Cami
[18:32] <Zark> Oh, that's a nice idea Swith.
[18:33] <Nat> Alright; I'm checking out for now. Update me on your plans tomorrow, please.
[18:33] == Nat has quit [Quit: Web client closed]
[18:33] <Cer> So he not only steals the device but takes away some students? Works. But we should establish some rapport with those students before they're taken
[18:33] <Zark> Nat: Faster than farewells.
[18:33] <Zark> Cer: I think Swith meant the students we plant
[18:33] <Zark> As in, our proxies, our smurfs, whatever you want to call them.
[18:33] <Swith_> Yep, the planted ones.
[18:34] <Swith_> We need to give them a reason to get involved other than "School spirit".
[18:34] <Cer> The headmaster stole the school spirit, me thinks
[18:34] <Camicon> "Do or die" isn't enough motivations?
[18:34] <Zark> Are the Five going to play any role throughout this?
[18:35] <Swith_> WAIT! What if the device were more connected to the Multiverse than we think? What if the Multiverse was a byproduct of that school's being?
[18:35] <Swith_> I'm thinking the Five (which are the Mentors) might but only in cameo roles.
[18:35] <Camicon> a la Dumbledore?
[18:35] <Zark> Well, since they're the ones in charge of the school now, I figured they might have something to say at the least. Also, what'dyou mean with the byproduct thing?
[18:36] <Swith_> Yeah, because I don't want to play myself IC.
[18:36] <Cer> Mentors, like honey badger, don't care
[18:36] <Zark> They are literally ourselves? Oh wow xD
[18:36] <Swith_> They are us, yes.
[18:36] <Swith_> It doesn't have to be.
[18:37] <Camicon> As of this moment, their names must be a portmanteau of your nation name.
[18:37] <Zark> Well if they're literally us I am suddenly in inconditional agreement with you, Swith.
[18:37] <Swith_> I just thought I'd blend some concept into the game. We're teaching them to go out into the Multiverse (P2TM itself).
[18:38] <Zark> Ah.
[18:38] <Swith_> I'm going to run two characters, however. A student and a teacher.
[18:38] <Zark> I probably will as well.
[18:39] <Cer> So the Five might be on holiday during all this?
[18:39] <Swith_> Yep.
[18:39] <Cer> I'm thinking no to "school spirit". Let's just go with a device.
[18:39] <Cer> It's simple and easy for people to grasp
[18:40] <Swith_> Alrighty.
[18:40] <Zark> Agreed. Besides, school spirits sounds... I don't know, shifty.
[18:40] <Camicon> Yeah. "School spirit" angle sounds like something MLP would do. I'd enjoy it, but not everyone might.

[18:24] == Nightkill has joined #p2tm

[18:30] <Tiltster> We could even do both?
[18:30] <Swith_> Sure, or an island even? Fortified?

[18:14] <Cer> yes

[18:14] <Zark> We'll burn that bridge when we get to it.

[18:15] <Camicon> Well, Mister Jilted Original Headmaster would have some mooks on hand, wouldn't he?

[18:24] == Nightkill has joined #p2tm

Well that was shorter than I thought it would be.
