Star Ultima (IC)

Postby Harbertia » Tue Mar 18, 2014 7:33 pm

OOC Thread

The Portal rotated around, suspended in the void. It's age unknown, to think, that only 26 years ago a force unknown had come forth from the gate, spreading destruction across the sector, now, the Alliance seeks to enter gate to.

S.E. 522

The NC-2100 "Odysseus"

Mission: Investigate region beyond warpgate. Establish peaceful relations with the indigenous life. Locate the invaders, or other wise determine if they remain a possible threat.

Distance stars flicker as activity bustles around the Odysseus, morred to the dry dock of Station 7. The station staff reviewed the ship from the outside, as the Engineering crew conducts last minute inspections. On board, military personnel bunkered down in preparation for launch as the loading bay shuffled with activity. Pilots, and navigators where at the helm, conducting last minute system checks. Medical, and research staff set up their stations as the event horizon was upon them.

From Station 7, the Captain looked out into the void.

Captain Topas Cordell looked around the sector. "Alright ladies, get your stuff ready and into the ship. We need to leave in a few minutes. Hurry up!" she said through the announcer. She walked to the ship, she got all of her stuff ready to go for the expedition. It's her first day leading an actual operation, just a few weeks ago, she was a fresh graduate of the prestigious Jaune Officer Academy, now she's a captain. She's both excited and nervous in how the operation will lead out

A young woman sat at the helm of the Odysseus, she reached up, and flipped some switches bringing the yellow lights on, she was use to flying smaller craft though the Odysseus was not as large as a Republican Cruiser. It was still rather small, though larger then the average reconnaissance vessel, having been modified for extended exploration, and armored to withstand the force theorized to be imposed upon it during Warp travel.

Upon doing so she placed her hands upon the helm, the speakers, which where connected to the station, came on;

Corenea wrote:"Alright ladies, get your stuff ready and into the ship. We need to leave in a few minutes. Hurry up!"

She looked up briefly at the speakers, then out the forward windshielding at the Portal. She was nervous, and anxious at the same time. She was ready for the launch, and every moment she had to wait was agonizing.

The young soldier pushed the trolley carrying the armaments into the loading bay together with others of his peers. They were mostly around his age, young and energetic, but their discipline forced them to spend their energy on something more useful. Such as helping the crews with loading the supplies into the ship. The loading bay was quite busy, with forklifts and trolleys going to and fro from the area with crates of weapons and supplies. They weren’t sure if there was anything that they could use from the other side of the gate so they were made sure to carry enough supplies for all the crew members.

Just as he prepared to unload the crates from his trolley, an unfamiliar voice echoed from the speaker. ” Alright ladies, get your stuff ready and into the ship. We need to leave in a few minutes. Hurry up!” Definitely sounded like the captain wanted to leave soon. He already had his ‘stuff’ on board so all he needed to worry was to get himself onto the ship before departure – and he could always board from this side of the ship. Regardless, he doubled his speed with the cargo and loaded them up into the ship.

”That should be the last of them.” He told no one in particular as he boarded with a trolley full of crates, pushing them towards the armoury.

Peter sat in the antique chair in his office, overseeing the group of crewmen stacking boxes upon boxes of books, each one faded with age, his personal collection from his youth. Looking back, he wonders how he ever had time to read so much, and on top of that, how did he find time to find so many paper books! His thoughts were interrupted by a voice over the intercom, "Time to start already?" He said to himself while risking from his seat, "Gentalmen," he turned to the men stacking the books, "I'm afraid you'll have to leave now." on the last sentence he was halfway out the door, waving goodbye. Peter made his way to the bridge through the crowded corridors of the ship, everyone swarmed around like drunken bees, looking for their hive, upon arriving at a door at the front most end of the ship, waving the door open, Peter stepped into the bridge area, here was more organized, yet still madness in a way. After a brief survey of the bridge, Peter singled out the captain from the rest of the bridge staff and made his way to her through the crowd, "Pardon! Captain! May I have a word with you?".

Cordell turned around to see a staff member heading towards her. "Yes sir, what do you need?" She asked as she put down her bag on the floor of the ship.

This was it, everything he trained for. It was finally his time.
Going to space now, aren't you? his mate, Amund had told him. He'd been into space already. The trip to this planet alone was one part.
Going past the Warp Gate was a different story. Caius Stavrou held his helmet in his hands. It was made especially for Siuhlites. It had the shape of his snout and everything. He turned it over a few times, feeling a lot more nervous than ever. The Siuhlite pilot sighed and set the headgear down on the bunk gently aligned with the rest of his uniform. Upon hearing the message from the captain, Caius gathered his things and headed out for the ship. Out here, he felt even worse. The moment he stepped out, everyone around turned heads to look at him. They watched him as if expecting him to jump out and attack like the wild animal he was. All he could do was walk forward and keep from glancing back at the humans.
This walk alone towards the ship intimidated him. What more could he expect on the other side of that warpgate?
He entered through the Odysseus' side at a regular pace, not seeming to care that they had to leave soon. He stopped right after he crossed into the entrance hallway, then looked up at the ceiling.
"Thank you, Mother Ellisev." he mumbled, referring to the Star Goddess he'd been constantly told about as a pup. That very Goddess that brought them to Siuhl and helped them thrive. After saying his prayers, he headed for his post in the cockpit along with the others. He had heard that there was another pilot, and that pilot was a she.
"Oh, Gods help me." he said out loud nervously.

Forrus Arkenson had already put his stuff on the Odysseus, so he lingered outside in the station for a while, watching the activity. Forrus felt uncomfortable, as these were people he had never seen before. They were all from other nations in the Alliance, and they all had their own unique backgrounds. For a split second, he wished he was back home on Lumar. He wanted to see his family. But at the same time, he knew he had a mission to carry out. Even still, he despised the Lumar Empire, and he needed a break from his homeworld. He could not wait until the day the imperial government finally shattered. Forrus was also curious to see what was beyond that warpgate, but he knew that if they opened it up, they better be prepared for whatever might be on the other side.

Forrus's train of thought was interrupted by the Captain, who said that they were leaving in a few minutes, so he decided to board the ship.

Looking up from the valve she was tightening earlier, Ahiroja stood up, wiped her hands on the Grey jumpsuit that she wore and began to walk up the ramp, all while maintaining an emotionless face. Seeing this many people walk around in the ship made her a bit uncomfortable, so to avoid to what she considered "unnecessary" talking, Ahiroja simply made her way through the people into her own personal quarters as quickly as possible. Once there, she quickly locked the room with the logic of if anybody wanted her, they would knock.

I heard that there are several Imperials onboard.............. Best if that I keep my distance from them, no need to get riled up............. Just as long as I will be left in peace with my current job, I'll be fine.......... Thought Ahiroja, as she looked at the pistol she was allowed to carry in public because of her status as an engineer, before inserting a glowing green cylinder into the weapon. Although, Ahiroja had no intentions on attempting to murder any of them, it was a habit to have an active weapon, ready to fire, when she knows that there are any from the Lumar Empire. Not only that, but her hatred of the Empire was still the same, despite handing the leadership to a younger empress, her hands turning into fists as she thought her some more.

"Guide me, Saint Calfra...................." Muttered "Ahi" in Kovni quietly in order to calm her down, making the symbol of the protector of Kovlinan Travelers known as, Saint Calfra. She then slowly holstered the pistol on belt, and placing several more canisters in their respective slots in the belt, before opening the door with a massive exhale of air. Next, Ahiroja stepped out of her room and quietly shut her door, before proceeding to go for the armory.

Outside the ship stood a young woman with long black hair holding a distinguishable black suitcase by a red ribbon tied handle and she placed her hand on the ship's hull. 'Another ship to be placed on board...The Odysseus, a newly commissioned ship and I am once again first officer.' She thought to herself, deep in thought and appearing to have lost track of time.

'Captain...I wonder if it's truly alright to move on without the Ptolemaios' Sora thought again as she walked along side the ship's exterior and entered through the main doors like the rest of the crew. Just as stated in her briefing there were many crew members who came from many different nations and she, along with the captain of the new vessel were to complete missions with them aboard. She soon started to proceed to the bridge where her station laid waiting and her position as a first officer began.

Speaking that language again felt, odd to say the least. it must have been at least a year since he was last home, he had just been so busy with work, he wondered if he would ever go home again.

Stella giggled, having been put at ease. "Nie, nie stlmiť, len-" she paused a bit to think, "Trochu nervious ešte, vzrušený súčasne. Odhadujú, loď bude cestovať na warp faktor 4, ktoré majú vysvetliť, že je asi 100 krát rýchlosť svetla. Urobil som veľa pretekov, a ja teraz quickining rýchlosti, ale ja som, mám to, som naozaj anxcious, aby ste mohli začať,-" She smiled confidently, "Postarám sa o to, že je dôvod, prečo som bol vybraný, ako to urobiť."

No, not mute, just- A little nervous. They estimate the ship will travel at warp factor 4, which they explain to be 100 times the speed of light. As Sora neared the bridge she paused to brush some dust off her BDU jacket and check for any loose hairs before entering the large room. To find what appeared to be the captain already on the bridge and she snapped a salute, per her own inhibitions then said "First Officer Shalom reports for assigned duty."

Her salute was sharp as a knife and gaze even more so. However her experience foretold that newly commissioned officers are more strict than experienced officers because of their reliance on basic training and yet to hold onto skills that make them an advanced leader on the ship.

Sora loosened her salute and placed her suit case next to the first officer's chair before sitting down with a puff of air moving underneath her rump. Her eyes grew wide when she noticed and she soon began to look at the crew behind their seats, preparing for launch. It has been months since she last saw such a number of men working together to bring a large piece of metal skyward and eventually out into space where it belonged.

'But the captain...she looks so young to be one...' She thought after a few seconds and rested her arms on the sides of the chair then rested her back to the rear, waiting for the ten minutes to pass.

Forrus would walk up and down the corridors of the Odysseus. The ship was medium sized and close to the size of a frigate. Forrus had been on a ship of that size before, so he was not surprised. Forrus then heard the announcement and decided to continue exploring the ship. So far he had talked to no one, but he thought he may have saw a fellow Lumar while he was outside. He hoped he was right, as having another Lumar on board would make him feel more at ease. He would have someone to talk to.

OOC: This is a continuation of my previous post.

Stella looked at her Chronometer, "Mal by som sa vrátiť ku kormidlu, pokiaľ štart bol odložený, nie, nie, ja si nemyslím, -"

Corenea wrote:"The ship will leave in 10 minutes, hurry up and get into the ship. 10 minutes"

"- dobre, fajn robili svoju známosť, a ja prídem, keď to čas dovolí."

The room was cold, and cold for a reason but so to was space. She quickly made her way to the door, turned briefly to raise her fist shoulder high, and smile, uttering a few words as she hurried off towards the bridge. "Slavu, fame, and all that." she said giggling. She wasn't about to miss this moment.

Translation
I really should get back to the helm, unless the launch has been delayed, no, no I don't think it's been delayed, well, nice to have made your acquaintance, and I'll come in when time permits.

Slavu = glory

Ulysses Bell
Before the ship was a mission of utmost importance to the future of the alliance. No one knew what to expect on the other side, but Ulysses had a feeling that this would not be an uneventful journey. The unknown invaders had wreaked havoc on all when they came through the portal, and among the inhabitants of Holm-8 there was a belief that they had untold power on the other-side of the gate. This was all just speculation, of course, there was no telling what was the other-side. That was what made this voyage so ambitious. No one had idea.

Ulysses contemplated this as he continued to inspect the ships systems. The computer system did not report any issues, but it would be best to check a few critical systems. If something was wrong with one of those systems, thing would deteriorate quickly. There would be immediate evidence that the systems had broken down if they were broken down, but sometimes you had to make sure there was absolutely no chance that something could go wrong.

As Forrus was exploring the ship, he stumbled upon Ulysses Bell and saw that he was working on the computer system. This caught Forrus's attention, and he went into the room, but did not immediately come within Ulysses's line of sight.

He looked around, seeing various terminals all around the room.

Ashford unloaded the last cache of crate at the far side of the armoury, now occupied by stacks and stacks of metallic crates filled with the ammunition for the on board weapons. Possibly explosives as well. He looked at the racks, filled with some of the most impressive weapons the system had seen. He could recognize both Republic and Federation designed weapons, but he would still choose weapons manufactured by the Empire above them. Not because of pride, but simply because he was more accustomed to them, though he had to admit that some of their weapon designs were extremely impressive. Regardless, he should not be here when the ship was so close to departure from the spaceport. But he had not been allocated any tasks at the moment. After a brief moment of contemplation, he walked out of the armoury and proceeded towards the barracks. Or whatever they call it in this ship.
