Planet and System of Origin: Araniv Federation
Race: Human
Age: 36
Gender: Female
Appearance:
Role: Ship Captain
Equipment and Weapons: Laser Pistol, Photonic Blade
Skills: Hand to Hand combat, Quick reaction time, Maneuverable
Personality: Inexperienced, Kind, Low-Tempered, Brave
History: Topas Cordell was born to the influential Cordell family (her uncle is the current Prime Minister of the Federal Senate and her Father is an admiral in the Federal Navy) in Auraniv where she was enrolled to the prestigious military officer training school Jaune Academy when she graduated from school. Fresh off of officer training, she was assigned to lead a diplomacy group through the Warpgate.

Looking good, her application implying two things; 1) the Federation (and/or Alliance) seeks to discover reason for attack, and to make peace before another attack takes place. 2) they (or the Alliance) has chosen a recent graduate in order to lesson loss if such mission fails, or if the crew fails to return. This fits with the ship having a segment of the crew as diplomats. Part of the mission can thus be to establish peaceful relations with life indigenous to this new region of space.

Topas is our current candidate for Captain. If no counter offers come forth prior to the IC Topas should have Captaincy by default.

Civilization Age: 8,000 years
Government Type: Theocratic Constitutional Monarchy
Government Information: There's the Lord Appointe who holds executive power but is limited by the Chosen Council who are a group of priests and priestess (it's like the Papal State)
Population: 3 billion people
Home World/Capitol: D'Chrome
Capital Status: Safe from any invasionary threat
Society and Cultural information: They're highly religious, worshipping a supreme being they call the Father Appointer who apparantly gave the Bawnic race Spirit power (it's literally a parody on the Force). The Bawnic Empire is a peaceful race, only expanding to two planets and their moon for colonization (and those planets only have simple animal life, no intelligent life form) and are fearful of fighting a war with *insert alien antagonist here* due to their less militarized nature. they wore robes and tunic with not much demand on pants (they preferred civilization to warm crotches)
Languages Bawnico
Technological Age: Think of them as a race of anthromorphic tigers with Jedi abilities including lightsabers for their military and Jedi ships powered by their Spirit powers (Use the force)

I'll save the race on file externally for consideration. Once we are ready we can discuss as a group what sort of adventure we'd like to start off with. At the moment it seems we may encounter the Bawnic Empire as we draw closer towards the antagonists.

Odyssey was actually my first choice, but was not sure how others would feel about the name. Though it does sound cool; "Return to the Odyssey!"

Indeed, we could also go for "SS Odysseus"...
A few more ideas too:
SS Illuminator
SS Artemis
SS Beowulf
SS Excalibur
SS Athena
SS Niddhog

Though none of them are quite as good as "Odyssey"

I wouldn't mind SS Odysseus.

Since we're all about names I'm going to throw "SS Asteria" into the midst. :p

I agree, also, I don't know about SS though I will admit it's a lot better then the initials for Alliance Star Ship, or Alliance Ship. A.S.S Odysseous.

I do think Odysseous is a good name. Gives it more of a personal feel, like it is its own character. Odysseous. Yeah, I sort of like it. Perhapes we could just refer to it by name, rather then having to put initialls before it, or we could have the initials as RC (Recon Craft) or NC (which is more like the LS before Hindenburg, it would denote it's make by a private company, rather then a military organization).

Asteria sounds like a lovely name. so, thus far it seems Odysseous is winning out.

I believe I referred to a race of Snake people before, would it be alright if I fleshed out the race for this? Or do we have too many races already?

Talk of such circulated prior to the opening of this thread. We are currently still in indecision. Telepathy, and Telekinisis seem like they may be accepted, though only held by a rare, trained few. The more more extreme would allow us to have something like the powers held by some individuals in Mass Effect, under the name of Photon Arts (manipulating photons in order to create bursts of light, or focused beams of photonic power).

However as we draw closer to the IC I get the feeling that the RP might run more effectively if members of the crew do not possess such powers. They somehow seem out of place as we progress along the route of development. (this is an opinion, not a standing)

Understood, then I will refrain from making a character until then.

Though I personally prefer only telepathy and passive abilities to be allowed rather then the whole spectrum of psionic abilities (which goes without saying will push the entire RP into superhero territory). Think Terran Ghosts and Specters from Starcraft rather than those from Warhammer 40k.

(ah, I was just about to accept your character)
Name: Model N-394p, or as he is affectionately known, “Sparks”
Planet and System of Origin: Created on Holm 6
Race: Synthoid
Age: 18
Gender: Synthoid
Appearance: http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/ ... 2yj1ts.jpg

Role: Military
Equipment and Weapons: Photonic Blade, Plasma Rifle,
Skills: Protection, Combat, Some medical knowledge.
Personality: Logical, Cold, Emotionless, Authorized to kill yet programmed to protect organic assets at all costs.
History: Created for protection of important assets. He protected many government figures, however he slipped up, letting an important official die. He was nearly decommissioned until his superiors determined it would be best to transfer him to the Odysseus.

Hmm... Lumar (Holm 1, Holm 2, Holm 3)

Auranive (Holm 4, Holm 5)

Umbrex (Holm 6, Holm 7, Holm 8 )

Cool!

I think we have enough external races at the moment, as installments come in the form of episodic RPs (IC's focused on the crew dealing with a particular situation, or new entity) we can expand our races. Once the IC moves on, we can open up a section for the Star Ultima setting, and thus, better our development abilities though the forum of wikia.

I shall make a list of approved psionic powers, and post it for review.

Actually, I can go ahead and write those up right now;

Empathy (the ability to sense the emotional state of those around you)
Mind Reading (power to hear the thoughts of others)
Psychometry (ability to pick up on residual emotions associated with objects, and thus to get an idea of the objects past)
Telepathy (the ability to project one's thoughts into the mind of another)

hmm... Telekinisis is where I get iffy. Mind Reading might also be a plot killer to some extent. I've noticed that telepaths have recetnly been given the power as a freebe'. Maybe, for the time being, we should leave these powers out. Latter, perhaps at first with aliens, and then maybe having a crew member discover his/her powers may work out. The aliens might even help such individual in the use of such powers.

We should go to Arts and Fiction and ask for anyone who can make a detailed art for our character models and such so that we won't get sued from some entertainment company. I think Zeinbrad went with that tactic for a game he's planning to make.

If you find anyone, I would be pleased as thus far I've been trying to gather clipets of segements (faces, hair, uniforms, etc) that are in the currently dominant, and fitting, art style. To have something as described would be appreciated. I shall check out the forum, and see if I can find someone who may help us in this department.

I just remember all the crazy things he would do in the the original War thread, but he should be fine though, since I doubt that he would act like that in an actual RP.

His natural talent in marksmanship and remarkable accuracy with turrets earned him his first job as a lowly private in the Empire’s defence force. After serving the military for six years, he was given the opportunity to board the SS Odysseus in order to serve in the name of his country. He accepted it wholeheartedly and considered it as a great honour to be appointed by his beloved Empress.
