After getting medic training and working around the city enough to get his own equipment he left to go to the space faring missions that the private security company didn't support.

hmm... as far as I can tell the shielding held out pretty well, the ship had some strain, but hull wise should be fine.

The Engine was cut, and switched to an auxilary system. The Engineers should be able to tell if this caused any harm.
