Everyone is gathering in the communal dining room to meet and greet. There's a lot of Roman decorations.

Is that what you mean?

Most of the characters are at a party in the dining room. It started as a hastily-decorated party thrown by Kale to meet others, but then Hans decided to give Chrys a bouquet, the cultists got involved, and said cultists totally redecorated. The dining room, if I remember correctly, is on the first floor (second story.). I believe there is info on OOC Page 1. Also, Kale just added a ton of flowers.

In other news, Internet access is highly sporadic and hence I am unlikely to be online much in the next few hours. Hope you're all having a great whatever time of day, and my sympathies to anyone who is not.

Ditto. After going to see Gabriel Iglesias tonight with all my friends, I'm feeling a lot better.

I'll tell you my favorite joke he told tomorrow. It was so relevant, it hurt.

I'm just going to put this in: this week is going to be busy, at least at the start, for me. I've got a few different assignments and tests coming up, so I'm going to be pumping that stuff out for at least Monday and Tuesday.

You guys all have a good week, OK?

Some pointers.

Fraire wrote:Tsanis woke up from the slightest noise he heard. Tsanis looked around and didn't see anything. He got up and cracked his back, deciding to go see what everyone else was doing. After looking around, he saw there was a party going on. "Oh goody, a party." He walked in and looked around at how many other people were there. "My, oh my. This should be fun." He rubbed his hands together and walked in. He noticed there were many other people and even a few cultists, but he didn't even know of the existence of the cultists and thought they were simply new to the apartment, although they seemed eerily familiar. He thought about if he should join in and decided, why not?

The Factory of Spike wrote:Motimer got up from the floor. He needed to pull himself together. He started to walk around the party, looking for the people Nick had recommended he talk to. Willow and Giovenith were on other sides of the room. He decided to talk to Willow first. He walked up and said, "Hello, I'm Mortimer. I'm new here." He was staying very focused about thinking normal thoughts that allowed him to function normally.

"He ate", "He drove", "He walked over to"...

One of the hardest patterns to break is the simple "Person/verb" post structure. The second pattern is breaking up a post to give it a few paragraphs.

John woke up. It was still dark outside. "Oh well," he said. He was tired. He took a shower and brushed his teeth. He ran downstairs. "Hi guys!" He walked over to Minerva. She was stern but he had a question.

That's... yes, a post, but lacks depth. Think of ways to tuck world description and motivation into your posts to breathe depth into the character. If you get a soda from the fridge, it feels cold in your hand. If you stub your toe, the pain is sudden and the toe might throb for a few minutes. If you walk into a room, scents might still linger on the air. These little things paint a larger picture and ground your character in the scene.

A darkened room greeted John as his eyes fluttered open. The sun had yet to rise beyond his window. The man sighed as he pulled himself from bed, resolved to get the day started despite the early hour. A lukewarm shower somewhat revived him but not enough to scrape away his fatigue.

The apartment door snapped shut behind him and he made his way through familiar halls led mostly by his nose. Enticing smells were wafting up the stairwell, undoubtedly coming from the communal kitchen, and John stepped into the dining room to find a large gathering in progress. He spotted a few familiar faces and nodded to them. Minerva was nearby and, although she tended to be stern, she probably had answers to a few of his questions from the night before.

"Hi Minerva. I was wondering if you had a few minutes. I've got some things on my mind."

I used to make posts on my iPod; you just have to be more careful, and be prepared to make liberal use of the backspace key.

Little keys. Cer has those on his phone and I don't know how he manages to type with his big ol' thumbs. My thumbs are tiny and I can't manage to hit the right keys with them.

Ah, and that brings up my pet peeve. I'll be talking to him and he'll go to look something up. The keys make a sound when you tap them and I'm treated to poik poik poik bloop poik. Plus it makes a vibrate of sorts so the poiks are punctuated with vvvm vvvm vvvm.

Then again, I suppose technology's changed over the years. I remember my dad's cell phone was this bulky thing with just a keypad and a crappy LCD screen. I only remember it because we were driving to CA to visit family and he left it within reach of my car seat in the back. I chewed the thin, extendable antenna off.

Why don't modern smartphones need antennas? Fractals!

Meh. I'm going to take a nap.

Dear everyone:
I am in a lousy mood. In addition to frustrating stuff happening both on and offline, I have a sad (not on the level of a dead relative, but still pretty depressing) situation which is continuing to go on and which I've just been rather (figuratively speaking) painfully reminded of. Again. :'-(

Anyway, it's a bit of a volatile combination. Please, if I'm curt or snappish or something, don't take it too personally. Also, Nick will remain asleep for the moment.
