Russian soldiers seize airports and border checkpoints in Ukraine, leading many to wonder if Russia will attempt a full scale invasion of the eastern European nation. The European Union calls an emergency meeting to discuss a possible course of action. On the other side of the Atlantic, members of the United States Government also discuss options, hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst.

This RP will be a simulation of what could happen as a result of the recent events in Ukraine. I will be the OP, and will not RP as a nation, since I believe this eliminates bias. A few basic rules:

The night was crisp and cool and was a balmy 23 degrees. Edward Richortirer was still in his transport plane, code named Gamma. The soldiers, friends, and brothers in front of him were beginning to exit the plane through the back cargo hatch and take the leap of faith into the dark void of the night. The icy wind cut right through the plane numming Edward's fingers. For each soldier to exit the plane, they would have to unhook a safety latch that was tied to a bar that ran through the side of the cargo hold. This mechanism was to keep soldiers from slipping and accidentally falling off the plane when they were not ready. One by one, the latches were unhooked with a loud snap. A ghostly sound, like a demon beckoning Edward forward, wanting him to jump, to die. Sadly, Edward had no choice the clanking grew louder and louder as he neared the cargo hatch. He could not back out now. When one person jumped out the plane the next soldier had to jump in the next ten seconds. If he failed to do so either by error or by sheer terror, the soldiers had orders to push them out. Now only five men were in front of Edward. Clank went the safety latch. A faint slapping sound could be heard as the soldier's clothes flapped in the wind as he jumped into the frozen night. Four more. Clank, slap. Three more. Two... one.... It was time. Edward undid his safety latch and then froze. He felt the wind sucking at him, begging him to jump. Just like the demon he had imagined before. Edward has no choice. He jumped.

Edward tumbled and turned in the darkness. It was like a bad dream about falling off a cliff, but this was not a dream, this was war. Edward did his best to get his bearings. He angled himself upward using his arms and legs like they had taught him at the Airborne Academy. Edward released his parachute and felt a hard snap all the way up his spine. This was a good thing, however, for this meant that his parachute had deployed. He would have a some-what soft landing now; as soft of a landing you can get when you jump out of a plane at 20,000 feet. It was hard to tell where the ground was. The night was dark and the moon was covered. The darkness seemed to have an entity of its own; thick and suffocating. What happened next seemed to be a gift from God. For a couple of seconds the moon came out and cut through the darkness like a knife. There was just enough light for Edward to see the ground was fast approaching him. He did a little role, like he had been taught, right when he hit the ground; this role was for preventing the breaking of bones on the jarring impact with the ground. Luckily, this role was timed perfectly and Edward landed safely onto the hard packed snow of Greenland. He was on solid ground! He was safe! Then just as quickly as it had happened, the moon disappeared behind the unforgiving clouds. The darkness swarmed in again and the land became black once more.
