History of your nation: The Serbian Despotate was originally the Principality of Serbia, and a vassal of the Ottoman Empire. This all changed, however, after Prince Stefan Lazarević participated at the Battle of Angora, after which he visite the Byzantines and was awarded the title of Despot, which he adopted as the style of Serbian monarchs. Thats how the Serbian Despotate formed.
Afterwards, Stephen's son and future Despot was arrested by Byzantine Authorities. This was the first in a series of his family members being captured. During this time, he became a vassal of Hungary and eventually liberated all of his family. Afterwards, he was forced to become an Ottoman Vassal again and give part of Serbia to his brother, Vuk. Thankfully, eventually Stefan was able to annex Vuk's lands. The Ottomans attacked but were defeated by Stefan, and with Hungarian help, he took Serbian-Bulgaria and formed the current Serbian Despotate.
