Description

For all intents and purposes, everything is normal in Mason. It's going through a bad time, with the wealthy losing their wealth and crime escalating, but it wasn't much in wealth or safety to begin with.

However, there is a time that the people of Mason keep under wraps. Ten years ago, in the little destroyed building on the old hill, opposite the graveyard, there was a tiny, peculiar orphanage. It was run by a priest, and two nuns. Whilst the nuns were fine, with one residing as the matron of the church and the other dying of age a few years back, it was the priest and the... Oh so strange children that inhabited it.

After a large scale skirmish between the priest and one boy, Maxim, the place fell into disarray, with the priest and Maxim -having vanished.

The other children moved on. Some were adopted. Some lived on the streets. Some made families. Some were too young to even remember the orphanage, and lived out their lives never knowing.

However, when all of them, including Maxim, are in the town together once again through no plan of their own, the town once again is sent into chaos. Criminals bargain for the strange children, bounty hunters search them down, and a crypt of a holy man opens from the inside.....

Starlight Academy takes place in a universe where the anime didn't happen, and all summoning types (Fusion, Pendulum, XYZ, ETC) exist. You will control a student who has been accepted into the Academy, and can be either a Gold, Silver, or Bronze rank student. These ranks reflect your duelist's skill level and decide which dorm you'll be staying in.

We use a modified version of the official banlist, as well as including a few limited cards of our own to give even the casual duelist a good time.

Description
Players take on the role of operators in a newly founded 'Army without a nation' mercenary chapter. Whether you're smuggling drugs and/or people or conducting assassination of High-Value Targets, Black Fire security handles business with governments and "Less-than-legal" clients throughout the world. Currently based in the mid-late 1960s, the Vietnam War is in full swing, tensions in Korea are sparking up and may result in a second Korean conflict. Black Fire is still in it's infancy however and players will start off with 'small-time' jobs. As the mercenary group grows, access to better weapons and gear will become available, allowing them to potentially reshape the world as we know it.

A Dark Souls themed Character/World Builder RP, players will battle through the fictional Kingdom of Lordrain where it will be up to them to decide how their adventure will go, providing everything we've ever wanted in a Dark Souls Game. Players will have the chance to introduce NPCs, enemies, weapons, items, spells, bosses, areas, and so much more. The RP will proceed in chapters, and at the end of each one, the characters will grow stronger and stronger. While their paths may intertwine, every character has the chance of being the one who will link the Fire or anything else they wish to do.

Description
Occamy, a land of mystery, magic and monsters. Spread across this vast Eastern continent are many tribes and many species, so it could feel like stepping from one world into the next as you travel. From the merfolk of the Eastern Sea, to the hardy Western nomads in the frigid country of Maril, to the dark skinned Asante people of the south, and many a vampire, dragon and orc in between. Magic is very much alive here and across the lands are set up many schools where wizards, witches and sorcerers can learn their crafts. They tend to live much longer lives than non magical people and have their own community, although after the Wars it’s largely separate from the Synith folk. Their governing body is the Magical Council and the head of that Council is the Sorcerer/Sorceress Supreme. After the brutality of the Millennial Wars 1,000 years ago, the continent has been in relative peace and harmony ever since. However, something sinister threatens to change all that. Description
The roleplays takes place in an alternate version of Dragon Ball where none of the characters from the main continuity (except for the Eternal Dragons) exist. Players have the option to play as one of the six saiyans who landed on Earth as infants (in the main continuity only Goku was but changing it to six means that there's more room for experimentation and fun), humans or whatever they think fits (as of this advertisement, other alien species are off limits entirely). In addition, they can choose to play as either heroes or villains and can even suggest ideas for plots.

Description
It has been two years since the war between the Terran Alliance and the Ossyn Commonwealth war. A war forever known for it's corruption on both sides and the ones that defeated said corruption. The war left both sides disgraced and their citizens distrustful of their governments. Some of the heroes of this conflict, rather then help to rebuild their disgraced nations. Left with wanting nothing to do with the governments that they were betrayed by. Even though the corruption is gone at the time, the wounds of it are still fresh. It is a different galaxy now the Commonwealth is trying to colonize a new world. However the other nations and certain groups have also started to colonize the planet was well. But, no one knows what secrets are hidden on the planet and some one or ones may discover them. For what will happen after that is up to the wind.

You're not going to find movies made about them. But... this group of the lamest super-heroes never known to mankind has what it takes. Hopefully.

Including memorable NPCs such as: Captain Calculator, who's only power is that he can shoot calculators at people; Coathangerman, who doesn't have a power, but just wanted to be a superhero, and thwacks people with coathangers; Glitch, a young man who can make almost anything malfunction (a computer, a fridge, a door, fire,) - just that it's uncontrollable and he has no idea what's going to happen. And he also thinks he's the world's greatest superhero, they just don't know him yet.

Including hilarious lame supervillains unlike any you've seen in the movies (you'll just have to find out!); villains so mundane that the powerful guys didn't want to have to waste their time fighting them, so they left these guys to the Minnesota Infinites. And it's a good thing, too. Because if they didn't stop these villains, it's not like anything bad would happen. It's more like something unpleasantly lame but very hilarious might happen. And no one would want that.

Description
The Owl Republic, the powerhouse of the Eastern Seaboard, has begun its expansion after dealing with their archrivals, the Kalapto. With untouched land to the south, the Republic has now turned its head to claim a devastated Florida, which is consumed by heated relations between the Three City Dominion and the various northern Floridan factions. With the opportunity too hard to miss, the Owl Republic has now established its sphere of influence in Florida, influencing Saint Alfonzo, the Tridents and the Crossmen, in order to gain Florida as a territory.

While Florida is inhabited by many factions, it is still a wild, every-man-for-himself, land. Outside of the established settlements, raiders, zealots and wildlife roam the environment off of the main roads. Survival outside of the main settlements is laughable, and sometimes impossible.

Description
The year is 2025, the setting is modern day Earth. The world has advanced a little in the last decade but much of course remains the same, people still work, kids still go to school, and magic users still practice their magic .Yeah I said it, magic. Witchcraft, sorcery, stuff like that. And not that stage magic or special effects and stuff that you see on TV, but real life bonafide magic. That's right, magic exists, and has for thousands of years since the first humans were born. Even though each culture has their own unique brands of magic and their own culture, there are several rules to whom all apply. The number one of them, don't expose yourself. Witches and wizards, once living alongside mundane people as equals and sought after for cures and guidance, they used to get along quite well with ordinary humans. That is of course, until the witch trials happened. No, not the Salem trials, that was only one part of a mass genocide of magic users. Nobody knows why it happened, but ordinary people suddenly became scared of their magical neighbors and started executing them, forcing them underground. Once where magic users practiced their craft freely and openly, now they had to hide their magic for fear of persecution. They've been hiding so well for so long now that most Mundane (ordinary people) don't know that magic or magical creatures exist, but they do. Covens are still around, groups of tightly knit witches and wizards that live, work and practice magic together. Some are traditional, some are more modern and some are a combination of the two and the most powerful covens are often the pillars of their magical communities. The seven most powerful covens are these, although there are many more:

The Abada coven: Senegal, Africa
The Snegir coven: Moscow, Russia
The Fenglui coven: Shanghai, China
The Harpy Owl coven: Sacremento, California
The Kurokami coven: Kyoto, Japan
The Delacroix coven: Paris, France
The Zijevalica coven: Romania

Now, of course with normal people, magical people come in all sorts of alignments and religions, shapes, sizes and races. And some even practice magic religions. But with all people, they have good, they have evil and they have the in-between. Not all wizards and witches were happy about having to hide their true nature, in fact some chafed under it quite a lot. But most were quiet in order to avoid harm...not a few renegades. With the resurgance of magic that comes with the Blue Moon, an event that happens once every hundred years when magic blooms and becomes more powerful, most powerful on the actual night. And that's a good and a bad thing. Dark wizards all over are getting tired of living in the shadows. Understandable, but not only that, some want to eradicate all non magical life as revenge and take their place as the "rightful" rulers of society. The most effective way to do this is with an extremely complex and dangerous ritual that can only be performed during this time, and the night of the moon approaches.
There's also the Salem Society, it's so secretive that hardly anybody has even heard of it but it's definitely there. A fanatical group of magic haters, they believe in magic wholeheartedly and believe that it is the root of all evil, so they wish to reawaken the trials and stamp out all witches from the earth. Or they are people who are envious of magic, either way they want it gone. Their numbers are few but powerful, like a version of the Freemasons many of its people hold high offices like in government or teaching positions. They use this to spread their propoganda and indoctrinate their children from young ages. Besides all that, everything is pretty normal. These factions will come together and ignite a powder keg that threatens to destroy everything unless they are stopped, and it's up to us to stop it. You play as either a wizard or witch of Light, Dark or Neutral alignment, a Mundane just going about your life, or a Salemite. Either way, this big thing is going to happen and you're going to be dragged into it whether you wish it or not, so might as well buckle up and go along for the ride.
Magic:
Now plain and simple, magic is the invisible (most of the time) force that wizards and witches have the innate ability to harness and control, giving them extraordinary powers and the ability to perform all sorts of supernatural happenings. Magic in this RP is mostly a cross between Harry Potter magic and Charmed magic, just letting y'all know. Magical creatures in this world also exist, your fairies and elves and and things like that, dragons too. Although they're rarely seen.

Description
Some thirty years have passed since the Reapers nearly laid waste to the Galaxy. Though Commander Shepard was able to take control of the Reapers, and use them to rebuild the Mass Relays and return the Citadel to its original location before disappearing into Dark space, the damage done to planets throughout the Galaxy was extensive. The cost to repair that damage was extensive too, and as the colonies in the Terminus Systems had been less affected by the invasions, heavy taxes were levied from them to pay for the damage to the Capital worlds. The colonists of course took umbrage to these new taxes, and talk of secession became commonplace. Sensing an opportunity, Aria T' Loak visited the colonies and promised them protection for a fraction of what they were paying their governments. Nearly all the colonies accepted her offer, and the Terminus Empire was born.

Mercenary losses were minor compared to the major powers, and with the assistance of the colonies, Aria was able to quickly build her forces up to be even stronger than they were before the war, while the major powers had focused primarily on rebuilding their infrastructure. Soon she had a force at her command that could rival what was left of the major powers; but with great power comes great envy. Challengers began to arise intent on violating the one rule of Omega and claim the power of the Terminus throne for themselves. Chief among these challengers was Tyrronis Valkorian, head of the Blue Suns mercenary group. A former member of the Turian Blackwatch, Tyrronis developed a reputation for being a brilliant though ruthless and often brutal leader; a reputation he helped cement when Aria planned a visit to one of the colonies only to find the Blue Suns fleet lying in wait for her. Though the Blue Suns fleet managed to deal heavy damage to her flagship, Aria was able to escape, but it was too late. Tyrronis and his men had already killed Aria's staunchest supporters on Omega, and Tyrronis seized the Terminus throne. Tyrronis ordered his fleet to scour the Terminus Systems to find and kill Aria herself, but they never could locate her, and Aria's whereabouts still remain unknown.

After ensuring that his power was secure by eliminating every one of Aria's major supporters in the Terminus that he could find, Tyrronis turned his attention towards the rest of the Galaxy. His first official act as de facto leader of the Terminus Empire was to contact the major powers to demand an exorbitant sum of money for the mercenary groups' participation in the Reaper War. Still in heavy debt from their rebuilding efforts, the major powers refused Tyrronis' demand, and Tyrronis prepared to retaliate. After instituting a draft in the Terminus colonies to build up his forces even further, Tyrronis launched a surprise attack against the planet Illium; claiming its wealth as payment for the mercenary groups.

Without time to prepare an adequate defense, Illium's capital and most of its major cities soon fell; leaving only small resistance groups in rural parts of the planets standing between the Terminus forces and conquest of the planet. The Asari Republics declared war on the Terminus Empire in response, but the Council and the rest of the major species have been slow to offer assistance. The Systems Alliance and Turian Hierarchy sustained the heaviest losses in the Reaper War, and as their forces were still far from full strength, they were hesitant to drag themselves into another full scale war. The Quarians have been busy recolonizing Rannoch, and the Geth have busy helping them re-adapt to living planetside. The Krogans have been busy repopulating Tuchanka, and the Salarians are, well, the Salarians. Not wanting to completely jeopardize their relations with the Asari however, most of the major powers offered token support in the form of elite special forces groups. And that's where you come in...

It has been long since the Second American Civil War, and the American Patriotic War, in which the United States was divided once more, with the Confederate States of America and the People's Republic of America seceding from the U.S. The weakened U.S. reformed into the Federal States of America, and rebuilt it's army with the help of it's allies the Texan Federation, and it's protectorate the Californian Republic. The F.S.A. also tried and failed to befriend the isolationist Republic of Canada. The F.S.A. has just begun setting up relations with Alaska, a valuable trading partner, and the only nation Canada has friendly relations with.

Meanwhile, the Middle East nations constantly go to war with eachother for oil, a very valuable resource. In Europe, France and Greece secede from the European Communist Union, a federation of communist European countries. Greece remains communist but nationalistic, while France turns into a police state. Britain and Ireland are inhabited by hundreds of violent factions and gangs, which constantly try to unite the country under their leadership.

Most of the Asian countries remain isolationist, except for the United Chinese Socialist Republics, which has set it's eyes on Indochina, United Korea, and the Philippines for conquest. China has also become more aggressive towards Alaska, potentially harming relations with the F.S.A.

The End of Days

Patient Zero was a farmer in West Africa. From there it spread to his entire village, from his village to the larger town. From this town it was caught by a Nairobi businessman and transported across the Mediterranean. From a hundred airports it spread across the globe before anyone knew what was going on. From on simple man in Nigeria, the world would fall to it knees.

At first people thought the had come down with a flu, cramps, slight fever, a cough. These symptoms persisted for a week before hitting full force. High fever, bloating in the joints, bruise like blotches appearing under the skin as blood seeped out of deteriorating blood vessels. Patients vomited blood filled with the deadly little virus that was slowly killing them. It was a slow death, lasting up to three agonizing weeks.

Buy the time the government's of the world realized there was a global crisis to was far too late. There was nothing anyone could do, the fever had spread to every corner of the industrialized world was infected by the bloody blight. And than the bodies started to mount. Hospital became over run in the first week, mass graves replaced the once green parks of major metropolitan areas. Fear spread just as fast as the Fever did, often with more disastrous results. Riots in major cities, power outages as the people who ran the power plants choked on there own blood, gangs took over were the military didn't leaving major cities a war zone.

There is something worse than catching the Fever, and that surviving it. Those that survive experience massive brain trauma, from the high fever itself or some other cause is unknown. Most of these people sit in corners and weep, the weep for days on end till eventually they starve to death. But there are those few, those small few, who talk of the voices. Voices at the back of their head, screaming for them to kill, ordering them to kill.

This is the end of days, there will be no bright future of humanity , only pestilence, and a choking darkness.

Suvarnabhumi, the golden land. Straddling the maritime routes between India and the Great Ming, the lands of Suvarnabhumi are diverse, rich and filled with wondrous colour. From the golden stupas of Ayutthaya to the lush jungles of Malaya; from the flowing delta of the Mekong to the mountains of Nam Viet; merchants and adventurers from throughout the known world traverse through the treacherous waters, seeking fame, fortune and peace. From as far as the European edge of Iberia to the northern reaches of Japan, these travellers speak a myriad of tongues, and the faith of different gods. These countries are investing in their armies and methods to watch their citizens. Our Contaminated Earth is now full with nations were any opponent is killed in a awful way and everyone is waiting a new world war.

Transcendent is a roleplay, but not just a roleplay. In Transcendent, the world is dynamic, influenced by the actions of characters and the writers. It is a multi-seasonal roleplay that will span the globe, and, perhaps, take place across different time periods.

In Transcendent there is a branch of the human race that has existed for as long as anyone can remember, and can come in a wide variety of forms ranging from pixies to people who are 9 feet tall. The stranger varieties are rarer, obviously, or they would have been identified by the public sooner, but they still exist, and have become a foundation for dozens of cultures as gods, goblins, and ghouls. These beings have given the roleplay its name, and have been officially deemed Transcendents, by the species itself. You can either be these beings, or a human being as long as it fits the seasonal plot, and goes along with the world.

I will help to guide the plot of this world, but will not force anything, as it is as much yours to mold as it is mine. We all share the power to create something, to advance the plot, to see what happens. How we get to the end of the plot isn’t the only thing we’re writing for, because what the end of the plot will be is also up to you. I hope not only for the Transcendents to be as varied as the world’s many cultures, but also for it to be an epic, for the roleplay itself to be as transcendent as the Gods some metahumans are. This canvas is for our enjoyment.

This world is as rich in culture as the next one, and is occupied by mankind, but also by an off-shoot known to some as metahumans, and to others as Transcendents, or “those one freaks that turned my potato crop into stone”. This world is as complex as ours, too, perhaps more so, since the public knows about metahumans and has feelings ranging from adoration, to obsession, to hate, and, yes, even not giving a damn. Like our world, it isn’t made up of blacks and whites like those silly comic books that I love despite their serious issues with plotting and ridiculous heroes with nice legs that wear red go-go boots, for it is made up of more grays than there are on my mother’s head (which is a lot, if she doesn’t dye it).

Your characters are extensions of yourself, molded to this world. Follow the rules, and this will hopefully be one of the best experiences that you have on NationStates. I hope for this roleplay to become a P2TM darling, fully outfitted with everything from a Wikia, to a nice cast of characters in the future.

Most of all, I want us to have fun. That’s what Transcendent is for.

The year is 2016, and daily life in Fairwood Institute may look to be carefree to an outsider's eyes.
But when you enter the school and spend a few months there, you'll find intrigue, drama, fighting-- no different from any political entity fighting for the last ounce of power an influence. Despite school authority emphasising on school unity and harmony, behind the eyes of the Teacher, lie the ruthless environment of social life.

Everyone is divided into groups, cliques if you may-- some are created purely for the sake of influence and popularity, some just form because they do, and somehow get a decent amount of fame. But there is always oppression in a competitive society. The smart are deemed as the losers, the nerds, bookworms. Of course, with the ostracised are the introverts and a few assholes with no charisma.

Think of this high school as a hierarchy. The jocks and the social butterflies are at the top, and form less than 1% of the school population. And yet they dictate to their subordinates below, they tell you the right way to act, to dress, to talk, etc. The plebeian variant of this society are the normal students who have enough charisma to get by and make decent friendships, but not enough to be deemed as popular. They, unlike the patrician few, are extremely diversified in interest, varying from arts to video games to music. And then we have the slaves- the bottom of the hierarchy. Spit on, shamed. These people are the outsiders, those who refuse to conform to society's beliefs. However, despite such rebellious belief they do not have enough charisma to get the normal students to convince them of the greed of the popular kids, and are instead put in their place by the popular kids and the normal kids follow suit as well, usually to gain favour with them.

Enter Arthur Richardson. He has experienced firsthand the ruthlessness of the hierarchy, and has attempted to form a clique of his own to rise up against such bullying- and failed horribly, only to be shamed even more. His friends began leaving him, leaving him by his devices. This year, in a new class and a re-organised cohort system, the solid system of power has broken down once again, with some losing their influence, some maintaining it, and some gaining it. Thank goodness that his class this year consisted of fresh faces; in fact, people who never knew of such power at all. At the same time, the most popular kid in class, (name open for registration) is also with him in this class, but to save face, they have decided to "normalise" with him. To Evan Michael Chambers, the most popular kid in the school, this was simply another manipulation tactic; to Arthur, this was the opportunity for revenge, and for the power he deserves.

As to you, will you be a popular student, maintaining the establishment of greed that has kept you in power, or will you herald a new and more tolerant society?
Or will you be just another normal student, grasping any remaining power that is left by the 1%?
Or will you rise up against the very fabric of the school's society, and risk total shame?
