Description
This is a slower-paced, turn-based roleplay that is similar to the tabletop strategy game of Diplomacy (if you know it), where "a turn" represents the timeframe between two RP updates (3 days) when all the players perform their IC actions (in the same time, unbeknown of other player's actions). At the end of a turn I compile all the actions (war & diplomacy), post a dispatch with all that has happened (that is now "known" by all factions) and update the roleplay map.

The map has 62 provinces you can pick from (every faction starts with either 2 or 3 provinces), and as faction race you can be Elf, Dwarf, Human or Orc. There are some war benefits or disadvantages for every race (something like rock-paper-scissors). You also get some bonus/penalties from where in the world you choose your starting provinces for your faction (for example, starting with Orcs owning the Shire will offer for a slightly more challenging game). You also get some bonus/penalties based on your NS stats (Civil Rights, Economy, Political Freedoms) and you are encouraged to answer issues on the nation you play with in order to give it the NS stats that better suit your race (for example, Elves might benefit more from a high Civil Rights stats whilst Orcs would definitely suffer at a high Civil Rights).

For the Faction/War aspect:
Every faction has a visible army that you control, split, combine, move around, attack, defend etc. You get fresh reinforcements every 3 RP updates (directly proportional to how many provinces you own). There are some rules for attacking/defending, described in the FAQ. There is also a calculator app in which you can input your attacking/defending numbers and it'll give the result of the fight.
Usually players write IC messages from the point of view of the faction leader, talking to their generals / heroes about attacking/defending/moving their armies around, the reason why etc.

For the Faction/Diplomacy aspect:
Usually players write IC messages from the point of view of the faction leader, an ambassador / envoy / emissary sent to another faction, interacting with each other for an alliance or for some sweet backstabbing.

For the Character aspect:
Sometimes players write IC messages from the point of view of a hero or a random, telling stories related to their kingdom/faction -OR- engaging others in mini-events that happen on the map in various provinces (a rush for an artifact at the border between two factions, for example). This depends on the skill level of the player.

Description
After the fall of the Empire, the New Republic rises from the ashes. However, more than twenty years of imperial rule have not left the galaxy unscathed. Deep, systemic issues have arisen, while the faults of the Old Republic are many. Slavery, crime and wartime destruction are rampant in the galaxy. The new government will have to address these issues, but these problems are not merely external. Various factions are vying for power, each with their own idea of what the New Republic (or the New Empire) should be. Compromises will have to be made, and how this will affect the galaxy, only time will tell.

Description
El Cargotá, a Latin American country with its capital in Bartago. The country was founded alongside the other Latin American republics after the collapse of the Spanish Empire, and has one of the largest indigenous populations in the region, at nearly 30% of the entire population. During the Cold War, as the United States and Soviet Union fought over dominance, with the world as their battleground, El Cargotá became aligned with the US along with most of its neighbors, but remained democratic and never slipped into a military junta.

El Cargotá is now looking for its place on the world stage. While most of its Latin American neighbors are closely allied with the United States, some, such as Bolivia and Venezuela have turned to the Russia-China bloc. The population of El Cargotá is sharply split politically, ever since the 2008 elections, the social democratic Partido Democrático Popular de El Cargotá (People's Democratic party of El Cargotá), led by the charismatic President Miguel Tafalla, has been in control of both the presidency and the unicameral legislature, the National Assembly. Under him, the country has taken a sharp leftward turn, although not as much as Bolivia or Venezuela, and social programs and welfare have expanded. He managed to expand social programs while keeping high economic growth in the country, which made him immensely popular throughout the 2010s, as well as winning indigenous voters through his affirmative action policies.

However, he became controversial after amending the constitution to abolish term limits, allowing him to run for reelection in the 2016 presidential election, with his popularity also wavering due to economic slowdown. In the 2016 presidential elections, opposition parties made huge gains in the National Assembly, however, his party and its left wing coalition still retained the majority with a 116 seats and he still won the presidency. His second term has seen more economic sluggishness, which opposition parties blamed on his raising of taxes to pay for his social programs, as well as industry moving to other countries where the burden of taxation is lighter. Along with that, he has made extremely controversial foreign policy decisions, such as lowering tariffs with China and moving El Cargotá closer to Russia and China. His decision to allow China to rent an important port for 50 years sparked protests in 2018. His softness towards the Maduro regime has also been a cause of controversy. Many have accused him of tampering with the final count of the 2016 elections.

Now, as the 2020 elections get nearer, clamors from the right as well as other left wing parties grow against President Tafalla, and an air of uncertainty has settled in the country over its future…

Description
The RP takes place in an underground city generations (roughly 100 years) after Humanity escaped a race of reptilians on the surface. They call these beings 'Lizards' and the city was built by the Lizards but abandoned. The RP focuses on three factions; Administration, RISE, and the Hidden Scales in a time of internal tensions and paranoia. Player characters will be part of one of those three factions with at times some overlap in activity. Each faction has it's own perspective on what's going on in order to give the player characters with in the factions more differences. The RP is aiming to be a Science Fiction Drama focused on daily life, scheming, and conflict in the city as the factions work to accomplish theirs goals.

The year is 19 BBY. The Clone Wars have entered their third year, leaving behind it hundreds of star systems ravaged by the galactic warfare between the Grand Army of the Republic and the Droid Army of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Despite the bloodshed, destruction, and death, there is hope: in a desperate attempt to recover from it's losses, the Separatists launched an assault on the capital world of Coruscant, resulting in a costly victory for the Republic. With the death of Count Dooku and mounting success in the Outer Rim by the Republic, it appeared that the war would come to a close within months.

However, the Jedi Order, the defenders of the Republic for thousands of years and the generals and commanders of the Clone Army for the duration of the war, will not live to see the end to the conflict. After a failed attempt to arrest him by the best Jedi Masters the Jedi High Council had to offer, Darth Sidious, known publicly as Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, has declared Clone Protocol 66, or Order 66, to be enacted. It was not long before the Clone Army turned on its former field leaders, killing thousands of Jedi within hours. Unknown to most, one of their most promising members would see to the end of their Order and lead the 501st Legion into the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, shedding his former title of Jedi Knight and donning the mantle of Darth Vader. Known as Operation: Knightfall, the Grand Army of the Republic ensured the sacking of the Temple and the deaths of so many Jedi traitors. Despite the formal destruction of their organization and their home, Some Jedi would survive, either through luck or sheer will.

But, what if, instead of disappearing into the shadows, the Jedi stood firm against this new Galactic Empire? What if they fought back to prolong their survival, even if it meant the end of the Jedi forever?

This is where the RP begins. You will be assume the role of a Jedi approximately one hour before Protocol 66, stationed at the Jedi Temple or anywhere of your choosing. Once your allies turn on you, you will be responsible for your own survival and Should you manage to do so, you have two options: hide or retaliate. Flee or Fight. Will you be the stubborn flame that will do what it must to keep the Jedi Order alive or will the embers of the Light finally die out and allow the Darkness to shroud and rule the galaxy?

welcome to the world of Aetha, a mystical continent existing in a post apocalyptic landscape, after their near survival of the Third Blight, where the many aftereffects are still felt and have created long lasting fallout on social, cultural, political and religious life. It is a world split between three realms, Aether, the realm of Spirits, Aetha, the land of mortals, and Aethin, the land of Daemons. Here, nations and kings try desperately to get what they need for survival, trampling over the peasants and small folk as they fight destructive wars for the last remaining resources. The Church, the dominant religion, quietly wraps its fingers around the frightened and huddled masses, desperate for any salvation from their oppressed lives. And even still, though the Blight is many years in the past, its Carriers are still present, leading bands of Wights and their Blight Born officers against the Black Cloaks, an order of warriors dedicated to stopping their spread.

At its core, this world is Grimdark. It is a world of war, religious fanaticism, violent pogroms and increased suspicion of ones neighbors. And yet, it is not a world of pure suffering and horror. No matter how rare the sun is seen, no matter how oppressive the Church becomes or how frightening the Blight Born are, there is still hope. There are people who still believe in a light at the end of the tunnel, who believe in the teachings to protect the meek and punish the wicked, who search for answers and work towards a better tomorrow. And that, at its core, is what this tale is about. The last remaining good souls, from all walks of life, be they scholarly Magi in their quests for knowledge, noble Kings and Princes working to rebuild their cities and plow fertile fields, or heroic Black Cloaks hunting the monsters who sprung forth into the world when the Blight came. Or maybe, even the meekest of the meek, the Small Folk, who work the mills, plow the fields, hammer the swords and do their small parts for their community.

Or maybe not. Maybe instead, you will go forth into the world seeking only power. Only vengeance. Only destruction. It is all up to you, the players, to decide the fate of this world. It is your destiny, written among the stars and dictated by the passing of the Wanderers, the strings cut by fate, the will of the All Father.

A Time Of The Sword Is Nigh is a fantasy RP based around massive political shifts in a post calamity world. The setting is clearly defined, however, player feedback is greatly appreciated. It should be a world and a story where the actions of the characters and ideas of the players are important, to create a truly unique and in depth story where no one is left out, and everyone has the chance to make a difference in the changing world of Aetha.

So far, we have an OOC and a discord, as well as an in progress map. However, we are still looking for Co-OP's and lore keepers. If you have any interest in being a Co-OP, make yourself known, and make an impact on the direction things go as well as help keep things organized. If you have any interest in being a lorekeeper, please reach out to me so we can discuss the possibility.

Description
Ulfric Stoarmcloaks army marches on the city of Whiterun intent on talking the strategically important hold capital. The Last Dragonborn has left the city in an attempt to bring aid to the soon to be besieged city. Chaos and fear have gripped the people of Whiterun, but you would know that. You one of the people stuck within the walls of the city as the enemy marches closer, a days march away the word on the street says. Whether your a citizen of the city, a traveling merchent or one of the many refugees coming in from the country side you are soon to be in the fore front of Skyrims civil war. Description
The Long Peace -- The period of time after the end of World War II, was defined by the nuclear age. The ability to completely obliterate the enemy, and in the process face certain retaliatory obliteration, locked the world into a state of non-confrontational diplomacy between the powers of the world. However, in recent years, this ideal has begun to be challenged by the shifting state of global politics; marking the world by fear in rapid social, political, and technological change. The gravity of power in the world is evidently shifting towards East Asia, as India and China are projected to be the new superpowers of the 21st century, but these powers have yet to find a way to replace the Western order. The nations of the west fervently battle this shift of change in an effort to hold onto power for a while longer. The power struggle ignited by crisis and spread by political goals is felt globally. The world is not the same as it once was, and it will never return to it's current state. The tipping point begins in 2024.

All of the history is on the OP, but essentially the main premise behind the roleplay is that the concept between the "western" and "eastern" worlds has largely begun to break down as multipolarity is embraced. Relations between the US and the EU soured after the Nicaraguan War of 2020 and the Virumaa Crisis (think Crimea but instead of Ukraine it's Estonia and Latvia). The United States, while still very active on the global stage, has taken a more methodical and careful approach. The lack of an overwhelming external pressure served to cool the relations between China and Russia.

Description
Elementals 3 is set in Gaiaca, a world of broadswords and muskets, knights and ironclads, religious fervour and political upheaval; and a resurgence of the Elementals, a superhuman race endowed by the gods with one of eight different magics; and Hellspawn, their ancient, evil foe. The story is set upon the continent Galllia, a land now divided between two rival blocs. First there is the United Galllian Federation, an increasingly centralised oligarchy motivated by economic prosperity and scientific advance that controls the entire south and the northwestern half of the continent, established almost 19 years before the start of the story. Then there is the Commonwealth of the North encompassing the northeast of the continent, composed of three states that seceded from the U.G.F, and the Kingdom of Eresiln, which came to their aid. The Wide Northern War erupted three years ago when the U.G.F unsuccessfully attempted to prevent the secession, and lasted for 2.5 years before the Northemen rebels conquered the federal capital with the aid of a mysterious Champion of Light magic named the White Rose. What the Commonwealth of the North lacks in the financial power and greater population of the U.G.F, it makes up for with vast natural resources, fighting spirit, and seeming divine intervention. Furthermore, the Commonwealth has been aggressively expanding her industrial capacity, and may soon catch up to her southern rival.

Currently the main characters, many of whom were companions on a quest from before the Rupture of the North, are escorting a foreign noblewoman named Katya on a diplomatic mission to the Commonwealth of the North. They started in the city of Carogne, situated on the western side of the U.G.F, clashed with the anti-Elemental terrorist group known as Watchtower, and stole a pirate ship in hopes of sailing north around the continent to Auregen, Katya's destination. However, their plan hit a snag as they sailed near the city of St. Veowulf: ships were being mercilessly and mysteriously sunk to the north of the city, and the navy has quarantined all those waters. They claim this is the work of some large new network of pirates, raiding shipping while exceptionally strong hurricanes have been occurring in the region.

Two days ago, however, a man named Isaiah Daegal came to the city with news from an archipelago to the northwest of St. Veowulf, named the Thin Isles. He said that his people were under attack by a joint army of Daemonnes and Watchtower. Furthermore, he cast the blame for all the sunken ships on a magic ironclad that Watchtower helped the Daemonnes build. Evidently someone was riled up by his message, or wanted him silenced. Watchtower and Federal forces attempted to arrest him as he made his way to an audience with the Duke of St. Veowulf, but the heroes of the story intervened and saved him. As an emissary of his liege, the Baron of Towraigth, Daegal petitioned the Duke of St. Veowulf for reinforcements. Now the duke has answered, committing his forces to saving the Thin Isles, and calling for the raising of additional volunteers for the expedition.

This is where you come in. For whatever reason your character is in the city of St. Veowulf, and is willing to fight the cultists. Perhaps you are a young, fresh adventurer ready to see the world and win some glory. Perhaps it is faith that drives you into battle, heeding the summons for holy war against Hellspawn and godless cultists alike. Perhaps you are a soldier who has been without purpose since the war's end, and leap at the chance to fight for something meaningful. Or perhaps you have some other reason for travelling, and have become so exhausted with waiting for your chance to sail north on an approved navy convoy that you'll do anything to get out of St. Veowulf. Whatever your reasons at the outset, unbeknownst to you the gods have decided to weave your fate's thread into the tapestry they are now weaving with Katya, Tristan, Lisoette, Eric, Erosen, Catrin, and the others. The campaign in the Thin Isles may be your first clash with the forces of evil, but it will certainly not be your last.

Additional Info Magic in this universe consists of 10 Elements (magic Elements are capitalised, as opposed to normal elements like the element of surprise), although only eight of those Elements will be open to normal characters. Elementals are born with the ability to wield one of the following powers: Fire, Water, Ice, Wind, Lightning, Nature, Earth, or Metal. Light and Darkness are the other two Elements in the universe, but they are only granted to Elementals that prove their worth to the respective deity through truly righteous or wicked conduct.

Description
ONE THOUSAND YEARS have passed since the dawn of history, the great empires of steam and coal that, for all that their imprint on world history was great, was merely the harbinger of even greater things. It is said that in those ancient times before the Cataclysm, Man lived astride this world, worshipping the twin gods Speed and Scale under their Priest-Lord of Earthbank. It was a time of fantastical visions and ludicrous noises. A horse was slow and small, and to be slow and small was the highest sacrilege. Faster, bigger, a workshop of a thousand workers, bigger, faster, a tower that explodes its way to the moon, faster, bigger, a mechanical mind that can think faster than an entire city of humans, yet still bigger, still faster...

At the dawn of the nuclear age, in the wastelands of Aztlan, the long and fertile night between the twin gods birthed for human civilisation a new god, and her name was Destruction. It was a young god, at first, ignorant as to the way of the world and still limited in her capabilities. But with time, that changed. What good was an act of worship that only vapourised a hundred thousand souls in an instant, when one could do it to a million? Or ten millions? Or a hundred millions? Bigger! Faster! Bigger! Faster!

The ancients must have thought that it truly could have gone forever. But there are limits to all things. After the consummation of the long night, after humanity had already offered at the altar of Speed all things at a single instant and offered at the altar of Scale the planet itself, what more could satisfy the gods? What more could satisfy they who had everything?

So the child Destruction, no longer so innocent and no longer so young, visited this earth, gently treading upon the sacrifices upon sacrifices that mankind offered before the twin gods as a young prince walks upon a ballroom carpet. With a scythe built for her by humanity's ambition wielded by her arm braced by humanity's greed, she reaped, and reaped, and reaped, and reaped, until there was naught but ashes and ruins. The gods had no need for humanity anymore, for humanity had already given it all that it could offer. Leaving only their child Destruction and the Cataclysm she reaped as a final gift towards a race of loyal servants that have slaved on their behalf for so long, they left, perhaps to return one day, perhaps for good.

For the next five centuries, we plucked over the ruins of our ancestors, abandoned by all that the ancients thought that they knew. And now, it seems that even Destruction had eaten her fill, for the skies are clearing again. On these irradiated wastelands that cover the continents of our beloved home, under the thin remnants of an atmosphere that legends say was once naturally breathable, besides the oceans, slick with chemicals and ten centuries of industrial detritus, humanity finally has the wherewithal to push forwards with an agenda besides that of survival.

Yes... the Cataclysm is past, and the Age of Worship is upon us once more. But, abandoned by all that our ancestors once knew, what is there left to worship?

This is a mechanics-based, 4X-style, post-apocalyptic role-play, inspired by several of the tabletop and video games I've played or heard of over the years. The broad outline of the story is above, rules and application format are below.

If you need ideas, draw inspiration from the real world! The setting of this role-play is not so far removed from the information age that all traces of it have been lost. How might the ideas, symbols, organisations, or relics of the near future have been twisted through five centuries of barbarism and oral cultures?

The mechanics presented below are not comprehensive. There are a few little things I have not mentioned, which you will be discovering throughout the course of this role-play. Furthermore, feel free to role-play actions that are beneath the level of abstraction these mechanics work on, and if you wish to do something significant that is not covered by this set of mechanics, let me know and I will do my best to accommodate your desired plot-lines.

Much as in tabletop roleplaying, these mechanics are intended to support the emergent storytelling, not vice versa. Players making decisions and choosing actions based on in-character rather than OOC considerations may enjoy better dice rolls at my discretion, while players acting against the natural inclinations of the entity they are roleplaying as may be penalised.

Description

Dragons, the bane of man and beast alike. Fierce fire breathing beasts that devour whole towns before lighting them aflame, only to add the meager collection of shiny objects to their horde in some far off lair. Few can stand against the fell beasts and of those few, none can do it alone. That is why the Hunters guild was formed, first to hunt all types of dangerous creatures that plagued the civilized races, but now only to hunt the only true threat that remains.

Thanks to the guilds work Dragons had all but disappeared a hundred years before when the Slaughter at Cadival had occurred, scattering the dragons and killing their king. They were then hunted down in their ones and twos and put to the sword. But now things are changing, dragons have returned in greater numbers, organized once more they laid waste to several towns and villages that dared be to close to their mountain homes. They have also been seen flying high above great cities, not attacking, but not hiding themselves either.

And so the Hunters guild has been put back into the spotlight. New teams have begun to form in order to bring this threat down once more. You, be you human, elf, dwarf, or orc, have all joined the reorganzing Hunters guild. Whether it be to avenge a loss loved one, to gain fame and riches, or simply because you had nothing better to do, you all joined. And so now the hunt begins, how will your team shape up? Will you become the greatest dragon hunters to live? Or shall you perish in the flames like so many before you. Only time shall tell.

Description
The year is 1765. The nations of Europe, in a miracle of progress, have surpassed the long-standing civilizations of the East. Grand palaces have sprung up as the aristocracy has grown alongside the opulence of the times. And yet, the era of Kings and Princes, of feudal lords and chivalry, are in their dying days, or perhaps already dead, as the parlors of the continent are filled with philosophers, statesmen, and ideas that will forever change the world.

Africa and Asia are no strangers to strife. Whole eras, begun and ended by the blades of man, lie forgotten, abandoned to be reclaimed by the Earth. Though the bickering states in the West bring gold and treasure to the shores of the East, their competition also brings a new type of war: that which is truly global. The old powers, once the cradles of civilization, must now play a delicate balancing act to not only keep their traditions and culture, but to survive at all.

The New World is, furthermore, being ravaged by this insatiable hunger. Already, many old nations have been toppled by the growing colonies of Europe. Those who have managed to survive are now caught in a perilous game of chess, used as pawns by powers whose intentions are truly unknown. Brick now towers on their ancient shores, its layers strangers to them. In these nascent cities is emerging the ever-growing notion that kings across an ocean cannot, and perhaps should not, rule them as they did their forefathers who first settled the small forts and hamlets of America. The idea that a people ought to have the right to govern themselves, and that all men are created equal, clashes with the scars of the whip and the bodies upon bodies packed as cargo upon ships.

The world, too tired of peace and thirsty for war, is at a flashpoint. The consequences of the next few years will forever change history, and only one question remains: how?

A World on Fire is an Alternate History RP set in 1765. This RP has a divergence date of 1000 AD, but several important movements that happened post-divergence are considered canon for the history of the RP.

Description

WAR HAS CONSUMED WASHINGTON. The arrival of Keegan MacIntosh's Raider Alliance in the state has thrown everything into chaos. For once, the Union of the Ninety is fighting for its life against this new threat, as MacIntosh makes his warpath towards the ruins of Seattle. To the South, the Portland Confederacy has brought its attention once again to the State of Washington, deploying its expeditionary force to make a path straight towards the heart of Seattle to reap any rewards and loot that may lay in the ruins of the Pre-Flash city. All the while the People of the Bay prepare for another fight for their existence against the Confederacy, and the remaining southern tribes of Washington.

To the North, the Chosen of the Blind has turned its interests to the south once again. After conquering more land, the Elders' Council sees that the importance of Seattle to the expansion of the cult. As the Chosen musters its massive armies for an invasion of central and southern Washington, it will inevitably come into contact with the Union of the Ninety's trade outposts located in the outskirts of Seattle. This would draw the two historical rivals even closer to an all-out war for survival and dominance of northern and central Washington. This matters little in the end however, if neither side is able to fight off the impending doom of MacIntosh's Raider Alliance.

All the while, many minor factions look on in awe, and with greedy eyes. They are waiting, for their time to seize power and rise to become a power in Washington.

For thousands of years the Elvesh, an ancient race, lived alone on the continent of Eboris. Only conquering and taming the wild landscape for their own benefit. They fought hard to forge a prosperous and peaceful kingdom where they ruled uncontested over the entire continent. However, this reign of dominance would not last, as one day an event known as the Conflict would change the world forever. Simply put, the Conflict was when two different realities collided and merged together. No one has ever known what caused it but the results were immediately apparent. New races of intelligent life suddenly appeared on Eboris, and while none were as advanced or organized as the Elvesh, they had a distinct advantage over their native counterparts: magic. An unknown force that these otherworldly races brought with them, magic proved to be extraordinarily useful and deadly. While there was originally an uneasy peace between the Elvesh and these new races - humans, dwarves, beastfolk, and goliaths - soon war broke out as the new races sought to establish their own territories and empires.

The Elvesh quickly found themselves outmatched by the sheer power and potential held by magic. A human mage could burn down an entire forest or village before the Elvesh were able to stop them. Hopelessly outmatched, the Elvesh turned to prayer. The Elvesh had a history of worshiping the concept of light and purity as something that protects them against the darkness that lay over the untamed world. After centuries of meditation and study Elvesh priests learned to hone their bodies and senses to use the power of the light around them. While this had initially been used exclusively for religious purposes, the emergence of magic necessitated that they seek a counter to this foriegn and destructive force. It is at this time that a Elvesh priest allegedly received a holy vision in which he discovered the ability to purify the space around him with light. This power served to nullify the effects of otherworldly things such as magic. This new found power turned the tide in the war, and while the Elvesh had lost a great deal of territory to the new invading races, they managed to keep their foes at bay and force them to make peace. Thus the First Great War ended, and the mortal races started to build and thrive in co-existence. The humans took much of the land to the south, eventually separating out into multiple different countries and subcultures. The beastfolk spread out across the continent, favoring the lush forests found on the western half, and the goliaths claimed the isolated hills and mountains. Meanwhile the dwarves found comfort in land just below the surface, where they thrived through mining ore and gems. On the other hand, the Elvesh (now known as elves), had retained most of their land to the north, where they tended to take an isolationist stance towards the other races.

This period of relative peace between the surface races lasted for centuries, until the demon race from below began to stir. They noticed the surface races, particularly the dwarves, exploring deeper and deeper below and felt threatened. They had dwelled beneath in silence for too long and could no longer tolerate the abominations that were surface dwellers. The attack came swiftly and the other races were far from prepared. Just as the elves had created a response to magic by utilizing the natural force of light, the demons created a powerful weapon through darkness. While light allowed for purification, darkness created corruption. Demons had learned how to take magic and distort it’s users, turning them into monstrous abominations. Legends say they also managed to corrupt beasts and non-mages, turning them into servants of the demon horde. By the time the surface races noticed the rash of kidnappings of magic users it was already far too late.

The dwarves were the first to be attacked, as hordes of demons rushed through the since forgotten tunnels that connected their world to the surface. The Dwarvish kingdom of Agrosh was all but wiped out, and its survivors forced to flee to the surface world. They spread the word of the coming attack, of the demon army and their hordes of monsters. Thus began a war unlike any other in the history of Eboris. The forces of all the surface races had to unite in order to combat the demon threat. The army that was created as a result of this alliance was referred to as the Hammer of Eboris. Eventually the surface alliance was able to drive back the demon horde as the elves purified the abominations, the beastfolk rushed to battle in beast form alongside the goliaths and humans and dwarves used magic to overwhelm their foes. The demons had no choice but to retreat deep underground, vowing to return. In response, human mages developed a spell to seal the tunnels for good, locking away demons below the surface forever, or so they thought.

Small pockets of demons had remained on the surface, becoming little more than wild animals over time. After a thousand years the idea of a demon empire below the surface faded to legend, but the demons never forgot about the surface.



The World Today

The current year is 1318 and while Eboris has recently seen two decades of relative peace, the last few years have brought turbulence and conflict. This is in large part caused by the recent interest in ancient magical and holy artifacts that are being discovered across the continent. These treasure troves are being discovered in underground chambers and tunnels and hold riches and weapons that could change the balance of power irreparably. This discovery has functionally created a three way war between the nations of Dascus, Athela, and Tashar who over the last year have skirmished over these artifacts wherever they are discovered. For example Athela and Dascus fought a bloody battle at Eckers, a border city between the two countries, when an underground library filled with texts regarding magic was discovered.

As this spills across the continent, smaller countries have taken sides or involved themselves in the fight. The Eshon Confederacy has sided with Dascus in conflicts with Tashar, as the Confederacy fears that new power and magic granted by these artifacts would embolden Tashar to start a new invasion of Eshon; on the other hand, Tashar has called upon the aid of their allies, the Sartharians, to even the odds. Dascus seeks to study the magical potential and origin of these artifacts while Athela seeks to destroy and censor them altogether. Meanwhile the Freelands have mostly stayed out of the conflict, their only involvement being expelling and refusing any parties searching for these artifacts. The Antoran League and Hercynia have likewise opted to remain neutral, with the latter aggressively driving out any attempts by Tashar to search for artifacts in their territory.

Certain factions have found themselves involved with these artifacts as well. The Bank of Ashar and the Street Crawlers have created a black market for these items, and even some religious factions such as the Knights of Shotarr are seeking them out for their own purposes. The Foresters have entered the fray as well, fighting to ensure that the woods and groves of Eboris aren’t destroyed in the fight for the ancient relics.

This conflict has recently taken a turn after an ancient temple of unknown origins was discovered on the border of Dascus and Tashar. However rather than fighting, the opposing factions have agreed to a temporary peace in an attempt to avoid more bloodshed. A research team has now been put together made of a variety of different representatives. This team is also accompanied by a small fighting force for protection.

Your characters, for whatever reason, find themselves a part of this group. However the expedition will not go as planned and Eboris will soon be thrown into conflict and turmoil like it has never seen before. This begins an epic adventure where players join forces to rebuild the legendary army, the Hammer of Eboris, to unite the warring nations and preserve a future for all mortal kind.

Your kind has many names, savior, champion, hero but also, villain, destroyer, terrorist. Those are just some of the names your kind has gathered over the years. Somehow years ago, your kind managed to control and harness the power of the void. A feat considered impossible and your kind used this awesome power to protect the galaxy from the Scourge. A robotic race hellbent on assimilating any sentient organics they can find in order to make themselves more powerful. The first generation proved to be a deciding factor in the war and when the Scourge were eliminated. They were hail as heroes and would not sit idly by for long. They decided on helping people. Protecting the innocent and dealt several blows to infamous groups and nations. Led by a shadowy individual only known at the Oracle. Your kind was seen as a force of good in the galaxy. However, something happened to them, I am not sure what or I do not believe anyone knows what happened to them. To what caused them to turn heel and attack the ones they used to protect. This went on for years before they suddenly vanished. Most of your kind were not seen again, mostly. Some of them would surface and death normally follows them. Your kind was called the Ethereals and this the is legacy that they left on the galaxy, hope, peace, death, and war.

But, that was them, the first generation of Ethereals to grace the galaxy. You, my students, you the second generation of Ethereals and will not fall like the first generation. I knew the Ethereals well, worked with them many times. I even learned how the Ethereals got their abilities. That was before they changed and... they turned murderous. I did not always agree with the Oracle's methods of how they handled the first generation. Which, I do not seek to make the same mistakes. Unlike the first generation, who did not have a choice and was given their role by others, I gave you the choice after I rescued you from the Oracle's grasp. Those among you who choose to stay and be trained in the ways of the warrior.

My students, you are ready but, remain aware. The galaxy will not welcome you with open arms. They will shun, hate, and even try to attack you because of the deeds of the first generation. So you must stay hidden, strike in the shadows and remain an invisible blade that cuts in the night. There will be many challenges I wager that you will face. I am hopeful that you will overcome anything that comes your way. Now is your time the second generation to leave your mark on the galaxy. Let it be one of justice and honor and not of cruelty and death. Go forth and claim your destiny my Ethereals.

The roleplay is based on the post by Yuli Ban titled "The North American Technate vs. the World" in which America becomes a Technocracy after the new deal fails, leading to a three way Cold War between the Technate, the USSR, and Japan. The point of divergence in the roleplay differs, as FDR never becomes president in the first place, and the following events up to 1949 and the map itself differ to, but the basics are there.
