The last standing remnants of human civilization in the Old World, these Shard-powered warriors had struggled to resist the eternal wave of monstrous creatures that had devoured most of old Europa. (Pending update)

The year is 562 A.M. (Latin: Anno Magica, Year of Magic), 2014 C.E. in the old Gregorian calender. Terra, also known as Earth, is the homeland of the magical girl orders, with the city of Asteripolis (formerly Constantinople/Istanbul) as the capital of the new world. While the orders of Europe are given territorial control over several of the old cities in the region as their home bastion, those residing within Asteripolis, the League of Asteria, is charged with leading the campaign against the Shadows. With power residing in the League over Asteripolis, the civilian administration of the city had all but subsumed under their responsibility. As such, the city had, for all intents and purposes, become the heart of the League's operations in reclaiming Terra from the Shadows.

Few knew what happened to the world before the arrival of magic and power levels. Documents and archaeological evidence dating back to the time of Old Europe pinned at a singular date, 29 May, 1 A.M. (1453 C.E.) the date of the Fall of Constantinople in our world. Unknown demonic creatures, known as Shadows, unexpectedly appeared in the midst of battle, devastating both the Ottoman and Byzantines forces and reducing Constantinople into a ruin. Known as the Cataclysm, the monsters soon spread across the Old World in a violent rampage, destroying most of European and Asian civilization with it. Only the sudden, perhaps miraculous arrival of the Magical Girls prevented humanity's total destruction as its survivors rallied around these young casters. How these warriors acquired the means to combat the Shadows remained steeped in mystery, obscured by tales of heroism and wonder.

Asteripolis (Constantinople/Istanbul)

Asteripolis was once the center of the first Shadow hive, the origin of the darkness that had almost wiped out human civilization prior to the arrival of the Magical Girls. For its significance as the origin of the Shadows, the Magical Girl orders took it upon themselves to retake the shattered ruins of the Queen City for humanity. After years of bloody conflict, the lost remnants of Constantine's grand capital was finally restored to human control. Renamed Asteripolis, 'the Star City', the Second Rome would eventually be restored to its former glory.

Today, Asteripolis is a thriving metropolis, the largest city in the known world and the central trading hub controlling the vital Bosphorus straits which links Europe to the eastern lands. A cosmopolitan republic centred around an elected senate, its diverse people has enjoyed centuries of relative peace within its formidable walls, built on the foundations of the old city defences. However, Asteripolis is a city dominated by the Magical Girls of the League of Asteria, who controls and administers the domain like a military base. As such, most, if not all their resources, are being poured to the reconquest of Shadow-infested lands across Terra; a source of grievance for the civilian senate and the population.

Extent of Shadow affliction in the Abrahamic World (TBA)

As the origin of the Cataclysm (albeit at the edge of Europe), Europe bore the brunt of the apocalyptic war against the Shadows. Deemed the end times by the Pope Nicholas V and the patriarchs of Orthodox Christianity, it soon became obvious from the start that no rapture or Judgement Day of any kind was going to arrive to save the faithful. The Balkans, being the closest to Constantinople besides Anatolia, was utterly devastated, reducing the already wasted backwater of Ottoman, Venetian and Greek possessions into a total wasteland. Western and Northern Europe fared little better under the disorganized Catholic and Orthodox rulers, whose distrust in magic prevented them from eliciting the aid of the newly awakened Magical Girls. Rome itself, the heart of Christendom for most of the first millenia, was not immune to destruction, though the Papacy was able to escape to Sardinia. Even the least affected areas, mainly Scandinavia and the British Isles, fared little better with the collapse of the feudal monarchy. The only real signs of resistance came from the Holy Orders of the Teutonic Knights and the Knights Hospitaliers, which were quicker to adapt the new 'sisters' into their fighting force. As a result, most of Christendom was ultimately wiped out, sans the Holy Orders in the Baltics and Rhodes, which subsequently transformed into full-pledged Magical Girl orders on their own.

The void left behind, predictably, was quickly filled by underground or revived pagan sects, who were less shy about inducting Magical Girls into their faith for their defence. Most of those who survived the nightmare without the aid of the Holy Orders gradually abandoned their faith in God, forming pagan bastions under the leadership of these Magical Girls, of whom they refer to as 'seers'. Early on, conflict between the surviving Christian orders and the restored Pagan city-states proved bloody, chaotic and counter-productive to humanity's task of retaking Europe from the Shadows. However, with the formation of a defence league of Magical Girls to retake Shadow-held lands, both sides soon recognized the need to resist the Shadows united, for now, at least...

Middle East and North Africa
The Middle East, within proximity to Constantinople, fared little better against the encroaching Shadows in its early days. The Ottomans, put in the direct line of fire, were the first to be overwhelmed, their calls for a united 'Jihad' against the demonic forces heeded too late to trap the Shadows in Anatolia. Within months, most of Arabia had been completely subsumed, and a loose alliance of Muslim forces found themselves locked down on the Sinai peninsula and the Straits of Gibraltar, desperate to save what's left of their civilization. In the end, they too realized the necessity of the Magical Girls, drawing their ranks into the Sufi orders to counter the spread of the Shadows into North Africa. The loss of the holy cities of Mecca, Medina and Jerusalem paralleled the gravity of Rome's fall, and pre-Islamic sects, as well as the Copts, began to reassert their faith. Had it not been for the mediation of the orders to work towards regaining their lost domains, religious strife would have undoubtedly tore the remnants of the former Islamic world apart.

Indian Subcontinent
A land already steeped in mysticism, it was little wonder why the Shadows were ultimately stopped here. As a divided Timurid resistance against the Shadows faltered in Persia, word spread of the devastation of the western world at the hands of the dark monsters. as the tattered remnants of the Timurid empire took refuge into the Dehli Sultanate, few expected the fragile coalition of Hindu and Muslim Indian states to hold where so many had failed. But the combined forces led by Sultan Bahlul Khan Lodi of Delhi and King Mallikarjuna Raya of Vijayanagara, among others, proved their skeptics dead wrong. Active in their recruitment of Magical Girls in their respective orders, the Indian coalition was able to repel the Shadows on the Indus river, garnering the first major victory for humankind (and indirectly saving the South Eastern kingdoms from destruction). Coupled with the barrier that was the Himalayas, the Indian states was able to survive where most of their European and Mediterranean counterparts could not. As a result, most, if not all the orders in India were subject to an existing lord as vassals, preserving a vital remnant of ancient civilization.

Far East
The vast expanse of the central Asian steppes proved to be no barrier for the Shadows, as the monsters overwhelmed the sparsely populated Turks in the region, prompting a mass exodus towards the borders of Ming China. At first, the Ming were unwilling to accept the refugees, preferring to stay within the protection of the Great Wall, and paranoid of the rumours of the Shadows as nomadic lies. However, the arrival of the Shadows at their doorstep quickly changed their opinion, as Ming forces buckled without magical aid. It was then that the Ming hastily called the aid of the various martial arts sects, many of whom do not make the differentiation between magic and fighting skill, to train and recruit magical girls to their aid. Then, combined with allies from the Northern Yuan, Korea and even Japan, Ming forces barely managed to regain control of the Great Wall, albeit at a very, very heavy cost. However, reinforcing the wall with ancient alchemy and magic, the Ming made little effort trying to reclaim the lands beyond their domain. This inaction, predictably, led to serious discontent by the Turkic settlers forced to assimilate into Chinese society, following the loss of their homelands. Whether it was fear of weakening their control over their country, or fear of their nominal 'barbarian' allies, one could not say. Ultimately, the Middle Kingdom and the Far East in general had little reason to join in the global fight. With the borders of their realm more or less secure, geopolitical strife, as with our timeline, went on as per usual.

The Far East of today very much resembled the days before European traders and guns pried open their gates to a series of humiliations and national struggle. The Qing, the Manchu overlords of China since their conquests in 271 A.A. (1644 C.E.), remained a superpower of the Pacific, though its borders had not shifted very far to the west into Shadow-infested lands as it had in our timeline. Joseon remained a vassal of the Qing, a united Korean kingdom desperate to break away from Chinese homogeny. Japan, still under the Tokugawa, continued to maintain its closed door policy, keeping the reins in its trade with its neighbours without fear of a now horrifically weakened Europe and a non-existent United States (see Americas). As for the South East Asian states, much less can be said about their state of affairs beyond a smattering of Buddhist kingdoms to the north, and Muslim kingdoms to the south. With a lack of Europeans in the region, the only competition they had to face was each other for the lucrative maritime trade route.

Owing to the lack of a coordinated defence, Sub Saharan Africa is, for all intents and purposes, dead. Only the Arab stronghold of Zanzibar and remnants of Muslim Mali and Miaphysite Abyssinia are all that remained of a land rich in tribal tradition and innumerable tribes. Resistance outside the Abrahamic world remained scattered and futile. It turned out that if the Europeans did not pillage their lands in the centuries to come, the Shadows would do the ravaging instead.

With the near total, utter destruction of European and Asian civilization due to the Shadows, the Americas remained an unknown place west of the Atlantic Sea. Consequently, the Americas was to remain untouched by the Old World. At least, until the Shadows crossed the Bering Straits into Alaska...

To put it simply, the even less technologically adept native Americans were no match for the Shadows, and holdouts, if any, were very few. Even the mighty Aztecs, Maya and Inca were quickly crushed by the Shadows, which were not helped by their habitual ritual sacrifice of Magical Girls to appease the 'avatars' of the gods. Ultimately, barely anything remained of the Americas, even less than how their European overlords in our time affected them. What befell the mortals of the Americas was now anyone's guess. Perhaps the monsters have long wiped them out, or worse...

Technology
Faced against an unstoppable enemy, much of Terra's technological advancements had been oriented towards arming the Magical Girls with increasingly sophisticated weapons. Firearms is common among Magical Girls favouring a modern touch, and laser and lightsaber-like weapons (i.e. Devices) are already being deployed by more technologically adept Magical Girls. Despite the loss of so much in Europe, technology did not stagnate in the least. Rather, the arrival and rampant spread of the Shadows forced humanity to speed up its development for war machines, and thus far, they have proven very effective in reclaiming lost ground from the Shadows.

Sadly, the same cannot be said with regards to intellectual development. Most, if not all the states had no grasp of the concept of democracy, and the rule of strong oligarchs remained the rule of the day. Behind the facade of Terra's post-modernist cities was a world paralysed since the Cataclysm. As a result, society had not progressed as quickly, and many mannerisms that were typical of early modern times remained the norm. However, one matter did deviate, which was the decline of patriarchal society. The need for Magical Girls in the fight against the Shadows had propelled their status beyond what medieval society would have allowed. As seen from the early annihilation of such societies, the concept of male dominance had been flat out ground to dust. However, despite the progression of feminine power, most non-Magical Girl-controlled states still held on to archaic patriarchal structures. Even that, there was no denying that females were quickly ascending to the upper echelons of power, albeit at a slower pace and an earlier start than our timeline's feminist movements.

Application

This is a character RP, not a nation one. You'll be playing as magical girl(s), part of an order in Terra. You may also play characters of different orders. However, those who are playing an order not listed below must submit an organization application explaining your order or you will be rejected. Note that orders stationed in Asteripolis are vassals of the Consul there (foreign-based orders may or may be affiliated to their respective countries). All these requirements may be subject to change and dispute as long as you TG me with a good explanation. If not, my reasoning stands.

Character-wise, all magical girls will have at least three basic spells, one attack, one defence and one support. To get a gauge of how basic the spells should be, the spells should have only affect a single target at a time. If you're not clear of what the basic spells are, leave blank and I will fill that out for you. Your advanced spells (one so far), however, will be affected by your speciality, so choose wisely. Given its diverse nature, the kind of magical power can be virtually anything you come up with. However, I will trust that you impose limits on the spells and explain them before I start ranting over your application.

Only selected invitees, including previous applicants expressing interest in the old thread, need not give RP examples. Non invitees MUST give at least one or I will reject automatically. Magical Boy or Masked Protector apps will come soon, depending on whether I deem them plot-relevant. UPDATE: Masked Protector apps are now out. Go crazy with your shotas now.

Orders

League of Asteria

The League of Asteria is an alliance of three Magical Girl orders, responsible for the recapture, and later defence of Asteripolis. Led by three mysterious Magical Girls known for their demigoddess-like powers, the League had gained a fearsome reputation as the liberators of the city. However, rumours of their knowledge on the Shadows had pinned considerable suspicion on their intentions, and friction between the faction leaders had become daily news. Nonetheless, for all its faults, the league remained focused on the task of reclaiming Terra from the Shadows. Question is, what else are they hiding from everyone?...

General Information (Compulsory)
Name of Organization: Legio Magica
Home City: Rome, Italy
Bio: The Pope never dared to return to Rome, not while the Shadows are still at its gates. It was thus little wonder why the Legio Magica moved in and have squatted in St. Peter's seat ever since. Led by a mysterious, Romanophilic Magical Girl named Flavia Junia, the Legio Magica takes its lead from the bold Roman legions of old, drawing its ranks from throughout Europe and beyond for the reconquest of Terra from the Shadows. A complex military organization, the Legio Magica is often mistaken for the leading order in the League of Asteria, as compared to the more fraternal Oceanids and Spears of Andraste. In fact, its deep Roman iconography had been condemned by the other orders, who viewed it as nothing more than Flavia's personal army. However, few can dispute the strength of its legionnaires, who had held on to the Eternal City for over three centuries, and had led the liberation of what was to be Asteripolis.

Uniquely, despite its Latin overtones, the Legio is not a personality cult for Flavia. Rather, Flavia herself had been steadfast in pinning a mythic figure, the eponymous Asteria, as the leading figure of the Legio's cult. Portraying her as the founder of the first League of Asteria, of which Flavia claimed to be a part of, Flavia appeared keen to exert her goddess' prominence to a world deprived of God's grace. Needless to say, the leaders of the Oceanids and Spears of Andraste could not have disagreed more. Still, for all its disputes with the sister orders, the Legio remains committed to fighting the Shadows for humanity. But much appeared unsaid about the Romanesque order and their leader, who seemed to hold more secrets on the Shadows than they are willing to share outside the League.

Despite its theme, the Legio Magica is not limited to Iron Age weapons. Flavia herself, an avoid fan of musket weapons, has for herself a rank of firearms Magical Girls as part of her Praetorian Guard. Nonetheless, the Legio appeared significantly behind the times with regards to weapons technology. All that, though, did little to dent their prowess, if at all.

General Information (Compulsory)
Name of Organization: The Oceanids
Home City: Alexandria, Egypt
Bio: The de-facto naval branch of the League, the Oceanids under Nephthys Aigyptiopoulou drew their ranks primarily in the Eastern Mediterranean. A Hellenistic order in a sea of turmoil between Islamic, Christian and Neo-Egyptian pagan factions, Nephthys had far more trouble trying to draw recruits to fight against a common foe. However, against the odds, the Oceanids was finally formed as a coherent power, tasked with guarding the islands of the Aegean against Shadow incursions. Relations with the Christian Knights Hospitaliers and the Islamic Sufis were rocky at best, but Nephthys never failed to extend a hand of friendship to any Magical Girl in need.

Eventually, with the recapture of Constantinople, the Oceanids were designated the naval branch of the League, charged with defending the vital Bosporus straits and its surrounding waters from Shadow incursions. However, even Nephthys had reason to doubt Flavia's leadership in the League, and friction with the self-styled Legate had become an open secret in Asteripolis. Nonetheless, the Oceanids had little reason to break into factional fighting now, so long as the Shadows roam the land. Without them, the last bastions of humanity trapped in the Mediterranean would have undoubtedly fallen, as they stand vigilant for any amphibious Shadows trying to bypass their proud ships.
Useful Information (Optional):

General Information (Compulsory)
Name of Organization: Spears of Andraste
Home City: Durovernum Cantiacorum (Canterbury, England)
Bio: As its name and their leader Boudicca claims, the Spears of Andraste are Celtic to the core. While theoretically open to all Magical Girls like its sister orders, the vast majority of the Spears are Celtic or Norse pagan, many of whom come from the British Isles and as far as French Britanny and Normandy. What few Christians (a mix of Catholics, Celtic Christians and Lollards) within the Spears, part of the Longinus branch, face constant intimidation by its other members, and only Boudicca's fiery mouth could temper the attitudes of their peers.

Famed for their brute force and direct approach, the Spears of Andraste form a Varangian-like branch in the League's defence of Asteripolis. Forming the guard of the city's walls, the Spears are often in the frontline of any expedition into Shadow-held lands. It is little wonder, then, that Boudicca had taken quite a dislike for Flavia's politicking. In her personal opinion, offence is always the best defence.
Useful Information (Optional):

The Holy League
Founded after the Legio Magica's conquest and paganization of Rome and Constantinople (Asteripolis), the Holy League had been formed in reaction to growing pagan domination through Europe and the greater world and the collapse of Christianity. With the Holy See's traditional power bases in the courts of kings wiped out by the Shadows, efforts to restore Catholicism in Europe had fallen flat outside the domains of the Holy Orders. Realizing the failures of previous Papacies in dealing with the crisis, Pope Gregory XV retroactively lifted the excommunications over the Grand Masters of the old Catholic holy orders, by now full pledged Magical Girl organizations, authorizing the induction of Magical Girls into the defence of the faith, not just against the Shadows, but a resurgent pagan world. Naturally, many of the pagan orders reacted violently against the formation of the Holy League, condemning it as a precedent for a crusade against them. But immediate conflicts with the Shadows had kept all out religious war to a minimum, partly via the intervention of the League of Asteria.

Given their origins, the Holy League still uses the old Gregorian Calender, pinning the starting year at the birth of Jesus Christ. As such, most, if not all their official documents refer to their dates via that calender, though bilateral treaties also adhere to the League of Asteria's own Asterian Calender (After Magic). As of current, there had been no plans to secure Rome by force, due to the city's proximity to known Shadow hives in the Italian Apennines. However, few discounted the possibility of another crusade, should Flavia or her successors continue to suppress the followers of Christ like a Roman Ceaser.

Name of Organization: Knights of St John (of Jerusalem), otherwise known as the Knights Hospitallers
Home City: Rhodes
Bio: Based on the island of Rhodes at the time of the Cataclysm, the Knights Hospitallers were not blind to the encroaching threat just off their shores. Among the first forced at the forefront of the conflict against the Shadows, their ranks rapidly swelled with thousands of refugees, Byzantine and Turkish, fleeing the Shadow-infested mainland, with the island barely able to sustain itself. Eventually, it became clear that Rhodes itself was to become a mass grave unless they defied the papal bull barring Magical Girls from joining. Eventually, the Grand Master of the order, Jean de Lastic, decided once and for all to put the dispute to an end, announcing the separation of the order from the Holy See in Rome, installing an Orthodox, pro-Magical Girl patriarch in Rhodes and initiating the mass recruitment of Magical Girls, regardless of ethnicity or religion, into the order. The move, while severely angering the Catholic priesthood, was met with great enthusiasm from the locals, refugees and even the knights themselves. And as history proved, it was the Grand Master who had the last laugh, dying in one of Rhodes' gallant siege defences in the turbulent early days of the Cataclysm.

Today, the Knights Hospitallers, while still a Catholic order overall, had acquired a distinctly Orthodox flavour. The order to join for Magical Girls outside the significantly pagan League of Asteria, the Knights had come to rival even the League in terms of prestige and power. With a vast library of knowledge on anti-Shadow combat in the Palace of the Grand Master, few others understood the war with the Shadows more than the Knights of St. John. In fact, a large part of their grim suspicions of the League - primarily the Legio Magica - laid in their lack of transparency on information of the Shadows. Regardless, the Hospitallers had better matters to attend to than to engage in political intrigue in Asteripolis. With much of Anatolia - much of it now under Hospitaller sovereignty - still teeming with Shadows, the knights would continue to uphold the virtue of the Baptist, with or without the Papacy.
Useful Information (Optional):
  • Based on Nanoha, mostly Mid-Childan tech.
  • Controls Marseilles, the Baleric isles, Sicily, Malta and Crete, besides Rhodes

Name of Organization: Order of Brothers and Sisters of the German House of Saint Mary in Jerusalem, otherwise known as the Teutonic Knights
Home City: Königsberg (Kaliningrad)
Bio: One of the last surviving remnants of Catholicism in Europe, there was reason why the Teutonic Knights were famed for their dreaded prowess. At the time of the Cataclysm, the Order of the Teutonic Knights was in serious decline, and war against the rebelling cities of the Prussian Confederation and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was set to explode. However, news of the worsening fight with the Shadows persuaded the burghers of the confederation, and even border regions of the doomed Commonwealth to join the State of the Order in exchange for clemency and protection from the Shadows. However, initial defences proved just as the frail as the 'holy leagues' further south, as the hotheaded Grand Master, Ludwig von Erlichshausen, remained obstinate in barring the newly awakened Magical Girls - which he derogatorily termed 'satanic witches' - from joining the defence. It took the virtual extermination of the knights in Livonia and the loss of their Estonian and Latvian possessions to force the hand of a now exiled King Casimir IV Jagiellon, who instigated the knights and his Polish refugees to expel him from the office. In his place, his cousin, Elsa von Erlichshausen, herself a Magical Girl, was elected to rally a considerable defence against the Shadows in Prussia, and she did not leave her sponsors wanting.

Pinpointing the unique, albeit unorthodox talents of the Magical Girls spawning in the outbreak of the Cataclysm, the knights took the onus of training a new branch of 'sister knights' to counter the advance of the Shadows. After weeks of brutal fighting, the order was finally able to repel the Shadows outside Naidenburg (Nidzica). But the costs to the knights proved great, with Elsa and many male and female knights among the dead. However, it proved to the people of the Baltic that God was still on their side, and the newly, hastily ordained sisters took it upon themselves to reform the order into a powerful Magical Girl organization. Ultimately, their five-and-a-half-century conflict would see the liberation of the Baltic as far as Kiel. And though the remnants of the Commonwealth had died out in the wave of Slavic revival, the Teutonic Knights would reclaim their place as a force to be reckoned with, able to stand against not just the Shadows outside their borders, but the hostile Norse and Slavic city-states that surround it as well.

Modern Teutonic Order territories encompassed much of their traditional lands in the Baltics, with Königsberg as their capital. Borderlands of former Poland-Lithuania are also included, though Shadow incursions kept their hold in the heartlands tenuous at best. The knights of the Teutonic Order have harnessed fighting to an art, known for their hardnosed, uncompromising style of combat. And it was not just Shadow-slaying that they do best. Pagan heathens and Orthodox heretics may be seen equally as targets, though the immediate liberation of Europe from the Shadows had thus far kept their bloodlust for crusades a minimum.

Ironically, despite its origins in knightly tradition, the Teutonic Knights were not shy in implementing technology to empower their side. Utilizing advanced, intelligent weapons to aid them in battle, the knights had only become more fearsome with each discovery. An army of priests act as technicians, maintaining the Sisters' AI weapons in top fighting condition. All these, coupled with their penchant for inciting dread in combat, all but sealed their reputation as noble, strong warriors.
Useful Information (Optional):
  • Has an autonomous branch made up of Polish-Lithuanian refugees, the Order of Dobrzyń.
  • Based off Nanoha... somewhat. :3
  • Controls Prussia and Pomerania

Name of Organization: The Noble Order of Saint Olav the Thick / Order of Saint Olav / St. Olavs Orden
Home City: Oslo
Bio: The Order of Saint Olav had a turbulent history from the start. Formed shortly after the Cataclysm for the sole purpose of destroying the 'daemons from Hell' [the Shadows], they were also the first Christian Order to start accepting magical girls into their ranks. When the Pope threatened a crusade, they sent him a waraxe and the head of a Shadow. He still sent a crusade, but few people signed up, and even fewer returned.

One of their biggest rivals, at least early on, was the Teutonic Order. Besides the fact that Grand Master of the Teutons Ludwig von Erlichshausen, and Grand Master of St. Olavs Orden Sigurðr Haraldsson, could barely stand each other's presence, there was the whole thing about the Teuton Grand Master barring magical girls from entering his order. And frequently floundering in battle, while the St. Olavs Orden was at least holding ground, even in Denmark, which was the hardest hit of the Nordic countries.

Eventually, the years wore down the rivalry and turned it into a close-knit alliance. The modern St. Olavs Orden controls most of southern Scandinavia, and has made repeated attempts to retake Iceland, though none so far have been successful.
Useful Information (Optional): Like the Teutonic Knights, based off Nanoha, but use weapons more like the Belkan Devices from Nanoha A's.

Other Orders

General Information (Compulsory)
Name of Organization: Order of the Morning Star
Home City: Munich
Bio: Out of the many pagan sects to rise out of the ashes of Europe, the Order of the Morning Star is by far the most intriguing. Practically coming into existence over night, the Morning Star found it's home in a part of Germania that was thought to be void of life after the cataclysm. Founded by an unknown person, the order found itself attracting more and more members who have lost faith in God and found life meaningless after the shadows arrived. Worshipping the old norse gods, the order view on life and magic are as dark and morbid as the place they live. The same morbid views have also made same of the magical organizations in Europe wary of the Morning Star.
Useful Information (Optional):
It is rumored that the current leader is the same person who founded the order.

General Information (Compulsory)
Name of Organization: The Germanic Order of the Lone Wolf
Home City: Edinburgh
Bio: Although the Order wishes to conceal it, and it's members are oblivious to it, the organization started out as a prospector business, prospector being a fancy euphemism for "salvager," meaning they would go into ruins and other places and try to salvage anything valuable. This all changed when a team of salvagers uncovered an old book, one of the last survivors of it's kind, called Germania, by an odd fellow named Tacitus. They also uncovered a Latin dictionary, and the Order's translator eagerly translated it. With these new ideals uncovered, the Order began using them more and more in regards to their policies. Formerly a secular business that's only concern was profit, the organization became more and more spiritual, after some years of evolution, it finally emerged as "the Germanic Order," dedicated to living up to the "Germanic ideal," espoused by Tacitus. At this point, most members still knew the truth, that the organization was living up to an ancient book.

The Order began becoming multifaceted. Salvagers became a sect of the organization, now being sent out to explore territory, as well as to salvage for goods. It also began trying to educate the youth, to raise them to live up to the "Germanic ideal." and starting a military sept of the Order.

The organization had three leaders, or chieftains. This was to make sure that no sect received bias funding or support. A Salvager, Educator, and Soldier served as the three chieftains. However, one of the Chieftains, the Educator, a man who's original name is erased from history, killed the other two and proclaimed himself sole chieftain. He began making more and more "legislation," that allowed him to declare himself "king" of the Order. He proclaimed that Wotan had appeared to him in a dream and told him his destiny to lead the "Germanic people" to victory. He took on a new name, Hermann, after the man who defeated the Romans at Teutoburg, and declared himself a demigod.

Hermann began tightening his grip on the Order more and more. His declaration of kingship had earned him quite a number of enemies, many of whom realized he was creating a farce, using text that had no basis in reality to try and forge himself a new Roman Empire. However, Hermann gained the favor of the military sept of the Order and used it to crush his political opponents.

Under Hermann's reign, the organization became more and more like a nation. Their heathenism made them quite a number of enemies, especially the Teutonic Knights. They began expanding more and more, conquering other people's and forcing them to pay tribute to "the New Germania." with Edinburgh serving as their capital.

At this time, the Order was introduced to magical girls. Legends of ancient priestesses made some in the Order superstitiously frightened of them, even the one's who opposed Hermann and his ideals. However, Hermann saw the value in them, believing that now, he could have his own order of priestesses who would serve to indoctrinate the people into his new religion. He took one of the magical girls who agreed to serve his Order first, and made her the Head Priestess.

While before, the majority of the population had still doubted Hermann, believing his religion was a false attempt to legitimize his reign and military expansions, the priestesses scared many of them into believing in the new faith. With his religion now legitized by his new order of priestesses, Hermann became more and more bolder in his wars. His expansions grew more and more, and so did his rivalries, especially with the Teutonic Knights.

However, five years into his military campaign against the Highlands, Hermann led his army into a disaster, resulting in their almost utter annihilation. It was the ultimate irony, a man who thought himself the new Arminius, who had lead the great Roman legions into an ambush, was lead into an ambush himself. He was murdered by his own guards.

After his death in the campaign, rebellions and invasions broke out, destroying the "Germanic Empire" that Hermann had created for himself. In the end, the Order was almost utterly destroyed, and the nation it had created was destroyed.

After five years, the priestesses declared that Hermann had been deified, and now sat in the afterlife with the king of the gods himself. The shattered Order slowly began to reform and regrow, until it finally managed to do so. However, the aftermath had ensured it would never again try to become a nation, as it had done in the past.

With Hermann dead, and now deified, he was soon to be admired in the public psyche. By now, it had been forgotten that the Order was based on Roman accounts of a province they knew little about. The religion was being accepted more and more. The military sept was recreated. Salvagers served as the standard bearers of the sept, as well as explorers, geographers, etc. The organization also began efforts to recreate their library of ancient texts. Their new leader was announced to be the High Priestess, known solely as Veleda. With the death of the military, and of the king, the priestesses began to dominate the new Order, which they renamed the Germanic Order of the Lone Wolf, as their Germania was long since dead.

Useful Information (Optional): Most of the Order's members are oblivious to the fact that their order is based on the book of an ancient Roman author. They also have a habit of hoarding ancient texts, usually Latin, and as a result, pay well for these kind of books. They also hate the Teutonic Knights, and monotheism in general. While the Order is essentially a matriarchy, with priestesses running it and no one daring to question their orders, most of the Order is still chauvinistic, with the Priestesses being seen more like "one of the guys." as a result, most of the magical girls in the military sept do not control men, instead having their own divisions.

Name of Organization: Order of the Rock and the Star
Home City: Casablanca
Bio: A small order of mostly Muslim residents that controls the Strait of Gibraltar, along with some surrounding areas, giving it a total controlled landmass roughly the size of Portugal. Another Order known as the Order of the Pillars was its direct predecessor, formed in Gibraltar itself. The Emirate of Granada, and as a result the order itself, was slow to adopt the region's apparent 'anti-magic' mages. They only began when neighboring areas started pushing against the Emirate's borders. The Emirate eventually collapsed, but the Order remained, reforming itself as the Emirate of the Rock. It did well enough, soon pushing into Morocco.

The current Order was formed shortly after a strange red sphere was discovered in the Atlas Mountains, some distance inland from Gibraltar. The 'uniforms' formed from this sphere were too dangerous to use straight-up. However, by using the threads to make a fabric, a powerful [if skimpy] magic armor could be created. The production process was very dangerous, and very few people could wear such armor, so it was mostly reserved for the strongest of mages, or the children of the elite, the ones who could handle it without dying. Still, by using only a little of the fiber, even weak armor could be improved dramatically, and the wearer's physical prowess along with it. This order, the Order of the Red Star, eventually warred, then merged with, the Order of the Rock, creating the current state.
Useful Information (Optional): Technology used is a mix of Kill la Kill and the EC Dividers of Nanoha FORCE.

General Information (Compulsory)
Name of Organization: Black Phoenix Society
Home City: Luoyang, Henan Province, Qing China
Bio: The Black Phoenix Society - ruthless, secretive, supercilious and borderline fanatical. Those are the words best summed-up about them. They were among the most powerful of the Magical Girl Orders. But they weren’t always like that. At the time with the rise of Magical girls in the Far East, they’re once a minor order, dedicated to bring justice to Terra and fighting shadows like typical magical girls. Until one day, a mysterious girl named Qin Ying and pupil of the Order’s founder took over and transformed Black Phoenix into the deadliest and most feared Chinese Order today.

Past records regarding Qin Ying’s existence are pretty obscured at best. But one thing everyone agreed upon she is an ordinary commoner from Yunnan, born in the family of Confucian scholars and her favourite hobby is martial arts. However, stemming from her family, Ying’s beliefs are very radical, even by Ancient standards and they’re best described as benevolent dictatorship even at the expanse of freedom. But her most positive trait, Qin Ying is credited for proposing strong meritocracy and fraternity for every sister orders in the Far East, to the point she written her own series of manuscripts called ‘Theories of Qin Ying’. Even though it’s not accepted by every Asian orders but it left profound effect on oriental countries and anyone who bothered reading her works. Even Masked Protectors read it and applied it to their own. But this does not excuse Qin Ying from being one of the most controversial figures in China. After all, she built the foundation, allowing the Black Phoenix to become one of the most feared and most powerful organisations in the world.

Initially, the Black Phoenix Society was exclusively Han Chinese. Most of them were daughters of Forbidden Court officials in the Ming Dynasty era. As their organisation grew overtime, they incorporated girls from all walks of life in the Middle Kingdom who shared their aim of Chinese domination and beyond. Now they’re largely Han and Manchu.

The Black Phoenix and their allied Magical girl orders were instrumental in solidifying the Qing Dynasty’s rule over China, alongside with their Manchu and Mongol counterparts. Already deciding the Great Ming has lost the mandate of heaven. As a reward for their cooperation, the Manchu Qing government gave them special privileges in the Chinese society including near-immunity to the law. Unfortunately, this give rise to the Black Phoenixes’ notoriety as ruthless enforcers of the Emperor’s will. With their newfound positions, they take their actions to the extreme, much to the horror of their Chinese sister orders. Notably during Yongzheng Emperor’s reign, their nation-wide suppression of political dissidents and rebels is a prime example of it.

Because of this, they’re arch-nemesis with the White Lotus who disagreed with their methods and their quasi-totalitarian philosophy. To say they are rivals…is an understatement. These two orders beared the eternal grudges against each other since the Ming Dynasty period. After they finally decided to wage war against the White Lotus, the fighting over bitter feuds took decades, so much they indirectly creating carnage for the poor folks. To the point, they nearly dragged China on the brink of civil war. In response to their disputes, the enraged Kangxi Emperor finally had enough and personally ordered them to stand down. And so they did. In attempt to prevent such tragedy from happening, the Chinese government with consent from the leaders of White Lotus and Black Phoenix made a formal custom for selected champions from both orders to engage in a (usually) non-lethal duel once a year in Beijing in order to maintain peace and harmony.

The Black Phoenix animosity against the White Lotus is not sated and continued on to this day. And some of their radical members are more than happy to see their rivals’ dead. Heaven above only knows on what future they’ll have. Not without bloodsheds and resolve.

Useful Information (Optional):Their goal is not only defeating the shadows, they seek world domination to be ruled under China. In their view, all under heavens, particularly non-Asians are ‘barbaric devils’ deserved to be ruled by the Middle Kingdom at any means necessary. And they have resources to do it including military assets and forbidden magical arts at their disposal. Not to mention, they got support from certain factions of the Qing government to do so. They’re also rather infamous for specialty in assassinations and political intrigue. The Black Phoenixes will kill anyone who gets in their way. Luckily for Terra, their rival the White Lotus and their allies will not let that happen.

Based on Far Eastern fantasy stuff and from certain animes which will prop up soon. :3

General Information:
Name of Organization:
Holy Order of Neo-Amazonia
Home City: Themiscyra, previously Terme

Bio: Shortly after the Cataclysm and the emergence of the magical girls, there was a feminist uprising in the city of Terme, located on the southern coast of the Black Sea in the Samsun province of Turkey. It was lead by a newly-awakened magical girl of incredible power. Naming herself Hippolyta after the mythological Amazonian queen, she rallied an army of women and magical girls and launched an assault against the men of the city. Though bloody, the assault didn't last very long as the men were caught completely off guard, never anticipating anything like what had happened. After claiming victory, Hippolyta exiled all the men from Terme which she renamed to Themiscyra.

Over the next decade, Hippolyta prompted a revival of Greek paganism, specifically the worship of the goddesses Athena, Artemis, and Aphrodite and birthed the Holy Order of Neo-Amazonia, an Order dedicated to training magical girls and protecting the now independent city-state of Themiscyra. Despite being surrounded on all sides by the Shadows, the city flourished, a small oasis of light in a sea of darkness.

Unlike most of the other magical girl Orders, the Amazons don't seem to care much about driving back the Shadows or reclaiming the conquered land, and their relations with the other orders are mostly distant and aloof. They seem content to simply live out their lives in peace and isolation, unconcerned with the affairs of the outside world. However, their newest queen, Eurypyle, is trying to change this and establish peaceful relations with the other Orders, hoping that by cooperating with them, she can spread Amazonian influence to the rest of the world and bring about liberation for other oppressed women. As such, she has recently had an embassy constructed in Asteripolis and has sent several members of the Order there as diplomats.

Useful Information: Despite the Order's love of the past and influence from ancient Greek stories, the Amazons are forward thinkers and very adept at science and technology. They want women to march forward into the future and so eagerly embrace new discoveries and inventions.

General Information (Compulsory)
Name of Organization: The Order of the White Lotus
Home City: Nanjing, Jiangsu province, Qing China excluding the HQ branches all over the known world.
Bio: The largest and the most noble Chinese Magical Girl Order in the Far East. The gals of the White Lotus are known to be fierce warriors and maraudering vigilantes, holding strong values in honour and justice for the sake of peace, love and friendship – and good times! Their reputations as a heroic order of Asia have even reached the Europe and Middle-East. Thanks to the astonished support of the Chinese government who decided to sent its’ elite expeditionary troops, accompanied by their magical girl corps to help the Western forces fight the shadows in the old Gregorian year of 1914. As of result comes their fame has become spread all over the world, even to the backwater edges of Europe and Africa.

Since at the dawn of shadows rampage in the Ming Dynasty era, they started off as a small motley group from bizarre backgrounds in all sections of Chinese society, founded and led by brave band of ten magical girls known as the ‘Ten Heroines’. Interestingly, three of them are daughters of the Ming Emperor himself, they joined in, wanting to help the country. Famous for their compassionate wisdom and eccentric personalities, they help lead the alliance to take the fight at the shadows. Soon after they drove out the shadows off their lands, these brave maidens are later honoured as national heroes of their homeland.

Fighting through thick and thin over the centuries, fighting their enemies and waging justice, they’ve grown into the most respectable Magical Order in the Far East, even the male chauvinists took them in high regards. The proud descendents of the noble Ten Heroines lived on as generals, tacticians, nobles and even the Emperor. Notably the Tianzi Empress, the 13th Qing ruler who was a White Lotus magical girl before she ascended the Dragon throne. Tianzi is famous for being an avid reformist with a vision and her benign rule, keen to improve the welfare of her people and she is the second woman to rule the Middle Kingdom in Chinese history ever since Wu Zetian. Because of this, she is beloved by the Chinese everywhere to the point that her death was met with painful mourning still honoured in Chinese lands to this very day.

The Order of White Lotus membership has drawn its members from all walks of life in the Middle Kingdom over the years and more than proud to show off this fact – a harmonious unity of friendship and peace. Ever since the year 232 A.M. or 1684 in old Gregorian, China finally opens its doors to the world, resuming its’ ancient trade and diplomatic contacts. Following it, the White Lotus expanded its network of branches and stations, all over the world, most particularly the Chinese communities who’ve lived abroad. Despite their contributing efforts to help their counterparts of Europe and Middle-East, they’re unfortunately viewed as outsiders who’re too late to help. Nevertheless, they remained popular with the common people especially the local Chinese community in Asteriopolis. Proven time and time again whoever got saved by the altruistic White Lotus Order became grateful for their help and more than willing to repay its debt whatever they can.

However, noble as they are, the White Lotus has its own dark past. They help the Manchu Qing solidifying the rule of country when the Great Ming collapsed into anarchy.

Contribute to that, their shaky relationships with the Black Phoenix Society over differed viewpoints, it all started by a simple disagreements between the leaders of their respective orders and the latter’s more privileged statuses in the Middle Kingdom. Unlike the Black Phoenixes, they believe in mutual coexistence, rather than conquests and domination. As soon as the relationship with Black Phoenixes worsened, the latter grew more fanatical in their enforcement of their draconian methods, the White Lotus snapped! They’ve finally reached their boiling point. No longer tolerated the injustices, both sides have finally drawn their blades against each other and escalated into the outright civil war, many members initially believe defeating their arch-nemesis will make the world a peaceful place and stop tyranny in its place, for the sake of justice. They were wrong; they nearly dragged China into turmoil of trouble into a cycle of violence and vendetta. All seems lost until the enraged Kangxi Emperor ordered them to stand down and advocate a truce between the two belligerent orders. Following by his decree, Truce or in reality a virtual peace existed despite heated tensions between them.

Even though they forgive the Black Phoenix for the past grievances but the Order of White Lotus has continued to be wary of their rivals – the Black Phoenix Society in spite their best efforts to reconcile with the centuries-long grudge. Only the higher powers knew the fate in store for this noble Order of White Lotus, for good or ill. Whatever it is, these fearless maidens, undeterred by the impossible odds, will fight for the greater good.

Useful Information (Optional): They have good relations with most of the existing magical girl orders despite their cultural differences. Notably the Knight Hospitallers, the Order of Saint Olav and even those of the League of Asteria, though mostly attributed to healthy trading relationships between China and Europe. Especially the White Lotus order presence over there tends to act as liaisons for the Forbidden Palace in Beijing. But they detest those whom they considered to be dishonourable.

Even though virtually independent of the government, they answered themselves to the Emperor in the Forbidden City. Possessing assets and prerequisite as a military organisation (with its own R&D division) dedicated themselves to bring justice and fight the shadows with support of the Chinese government and blessings of the Dragon Throne. The White Lotus has their own brand of magical arts – an indigenous fusion of martial-arts, science and magic, an attempt to bring the best of each into one, reminiscent like the old Wuxia tales.

Despite their cultural differences, the White Lotus is a very tight-knitted group to the point they considered themselves each other as family. Threaten some of their members and they’ll gladly repay it with severe retribution. Honour them they’ll be your greatest allies for life.

Name of Organization: Shinsengumi (Japanese: 新選組)
Home City: Edo (Tokyo)
Bio: Based in the Shogunate stronghold of Edo, the Shinsengumi was formed in reaction to increasing coastal attacks by Shadows from the North Pacific, as well as domestic opposition against the ruling Tokugawa. Tasked with keeping the pro-imperial factions in check, the Shinsengumi was primarily led by Masked Protectors of samurai lineage, with Magical Girls were, until recently, sidelined as support, or as the current Shogun commented in discomfort, as 'living batteries'. The abortive Boshin War, which saw a bloody stalemate between the two sides, had only extended the ire of the Imperial-aligned factions, who was forced to settle for a peace which kept the the power of the Tokugawa, in return for a reaffirmation of their vassalage to the Emperor - essentially a return to the status quo.

However, the formation of the Imperial Guard without prior approval from the Shogunate had taken the Tokugawa completely by surprise, and the Shinsengumi was rapidly reorganized as a counterbalance against attempts by pro-imperial domains to restore political power to the imperial court. With a second 'Boshin' War looming just over the horizon, the Shinsengumi stood poised to purge the 'Empress' dogs' from Japan. But as both sides knew fully well, the real threat loomed just over their oceans. To plunge into civil war was to invite not just the Qing overlords to extend their power over an old vassal, but also to endanger the nation to attacks by the murderous Shadows.
Useful Information (Optional): Led by the twin sister of the current Shogun, Iorihime Tokugawa (Japanese: 徳川 伊織姫, Tokugawa Iorihime). The Shogun herself is Miyuhime Tokugawa (Japanese: 徳川 実優姫, Tokugawa Miyuhime)

Name of Organization: Imperial Guard (Japanese: 近衛師団, Konoe Shidan)
Home City: Kyoto
Bio:
Formed after the catastrophic Boshin war, which forced the imperial faction into a stalemate with the Tokugawa Shogunate, the Imperial Guard's main purpose was, ostensibly, to protect the imperial clan. However, few within and outside Japan were blind to the truth, which pointed to a desire by anti-shogunate factions to restore Heian-era imperial power to the Emperor and depose the Tokugawa government. With the blessings of the late Emperor Meiji and the political manoeuvrings of anti-shogunate daimyou, the Imperial Guard was announced to much shock from Edo, setting the precedent for a second, bloody civil war which would tear the country apart.

Like the Shinsengumi, the Imperial Guard places a strong emphasis on the deployment of Masked Protectors, most of them being samurai retainers. Magical Girls, even those of the samurai clans, were hardly considered of worth beyond being mere power sources. However, under Empress Akihime's directive, and following the lead on her adversary, Shogun Tokugawa Miyuhime, the Magical Girls were given a more prominent role in combating threats from the Shadows, as well as subversive agents from the Tokugawa, Joseon and the Qing.

Useful Information (Optional): Under the command of Empress Akihime (Japanese: 秋姫)

General Information (Compulsory)
Name of Organization: The Rangers
Home City: Asteripolis
Bio: Once, the Rangers were considered some of the greatest heroes on Terra. Founded by Lyria Solum, one of the great heroes of the first battles against the Shadows, the Rangers dedicated themselves to the preservation of humanity. They refused to ally with any political party, religion or region, instead spreading across what remained of the civilized world, fighting Shadows where ever they encountered them.

As the scope of civilization waxed, the Rangers' strength waned. They had always stayed on the fringes of society, and as humanity returned to many once-abandoned lands, they forced not only the Shadows, but also many Rangers to retreat. As the Rangers spread further away from humanity, they began to lose contact with each other. Finally, in the year 1914, the Rangers collapsed, although many individual members remained active.

The current form of the Rangers is radically different from the original group. The current organization is composed of merely eighteen members divided into three squads, each of which is assigned to different areas. The leader of these new rangers is one Leonnie Meyer, who claims to have been trained by a descendant of Lyria herself. Leonnie was the one who reformed the Rangers, following her mysterious arrival in Europa two years ago.

While most of the members of this new team are composed of highly skilled magical girls handpicked by Leonnie, some are also children or grandchildren of the original Rangers, who heard tales about this new group that shared its name with their ancestor's Order.

Since their reformation, the Rangers have mostly retained the goals and methodology of their originators, although Leonnie has made sure to strengthen the organisation of the group. To this end, Klara Mistenvale, the "face" of the Rangers, was appointed. While Leonnie is the official leader, Klara handles the coordination of the squad, the (rare) recruitment and training of new members and the representation of the Rangers.
Useful Information: One squad is deployed in southern Africa, one is in Poland and one (including Leonnie) is currently resting in Asteripolis after a particularly demanding operation.

Name of Organization: The Order of Garuda Sun AKA the Garudas
Home City: Jakarta, Nusantara League (Indonesia)
Bio: Formed in the wake of the surprise Shadow incursions into the Indonesian archipelagos and their answer to the Magical girl orders of the Nusantaran’s northern neighbours, the Order of Garuda Sun is the organisation of Magical girls and Masked protectors, dedicated to the defense and security of the Nusantara League and its people. Effectively, they’re the unified elite military force who can take on the tasks where ordinary people cannot - one of it they're really good at is shadow-slaying.The Order of Garuda Suns' membership have drawn its members from all walks of life, from all over the Nusantara realm. As of result, this have helped bind the bonds between the Nusantarans despite their regional differences and backgrounds, sharing their common interests in defending their homes from the shadow threat.

Like the White Lotus, the gals and boys of the Garuda Suns are also known to be fierce warriors and maraudering vigilantes, holding strong values in honour and justice for the sake of peace, love and friendship – and good times! Despite their wild antics, they're one of most professional organisations in the world.

Not only that, in Asia and perhaps the world, they’re famed for their powerful navy which rivaled the naval powers of the Oceanids and Knights Hospitallers. Protecting the vital trade routes of Nusantara and their allies from the pirates and shadows, it’s this power which kept even the Great Qing in check. Because of the Garudas, the Nusantara League became a major Asian power as a tightly-knitted coalition and a force to reckon with.

The Garudas remained vigilant against the enemies of their homeland, be it the shadows…and human.

Useful Information (Optional):The Order of Garuda Sun is a powerful military force in the Nusantara League, above the regular armies of its member kingdoms. They’re also best friends with the White Lotus. And they get along with everyone else. However, they’re not on good terms with the Black Phoenix Society. As a government organisation, the Order of Garuda answered to Jakarta.

Tech and magic-wise, the way the Garuda’s utilised, think of the mixed of Indian, East Asian and even Western stuff! In short, they won’t shy away from anything which works best~[/quote]

New World Orders
General Information (Compulsory)
Name of Organization: The Starfallen
Home City: Manǎhǎtonh (otherwise known as Manhattan, New York in our world)
Bio:
Contrary to what the leaders of the League of Asteria believed, Melanthia's goal of was never the total extermination of humanity. While she had every intention of clearing the Old World of what she believed to be 'corrupted' humans, Melanthia's encounter with the inhabitants of the mysterious continent bisecting Oceanus (the 'World Ocean') gave her some glimmer of hope of spreading Asteria's message of harmony, though with a very heavyhanded approach. An encounter with a seer of a Great Plains tribe, a Magical Girl in Old World terms, tempered the girl's fervent lust for revenge against Flavia, diverting her focus away from total destruction to establishing Asteria's ideal world in the New World. The result was a continent-spanning empire covering much of the Americas, all under the suzerain of the immortal entity, with a vast pool of manpower to augment her army of Shadows, akin to the dog trainers leading her attack dogs. The most elite of her warriors was the Starfallen, the magical branch of her grand military might. There, she hoped to utilize their prowess to subjugate the Old World, and bend all who refused to follow the ways of Asteria to their knees.

Drawn from the every corner of the Americas, the Starfallen constitutes a staggering cast of diverse characters, each divided into their own division based on their language. Most of those accepted into the Starfallen were typically Native Americans from the Great Lakes, part of the original lands of the Great Plains Confederacy under Melanthia's guidance. Magical Girls were also drawn from populations further south, though their history of conflict with the Great Plains Confederacy had made the woman averse to employing them in high ranking positions. In addition, Magical Girls from the Shadow-infested parts of the Old World were frequently solicited to act as spies for Melanthia, often with personal promises or protection from her creatures. Ironically, like the orders of the Old World, the Starfallen frequently engaged in fighting Shadows around their domain as well, an unexpected and discomforting side effect from Melanthia's waning control over their rapidly multiplying numbers. Still, their first and foremost speciality is anti-Magical Girl combat, something the woman who claimed to be the hand of Asteria was well prepared to engage to. Question was, what was going to be the cost for the Starfallen in the war for Asteria's fledging legacy.

Angrboda Heavy Industry and Biotech Development

Home City: Lithuania
Bio: Angrboda is what many might call a disreputable company. Sketchy business practices, numerous human rights violations, all for the sake of profits. “Better safe than sorry” their slogan exclaims, and for the most part, they are definitely the leading developer anti-Shadow weapon systems and defensive gear, including the multi-trillion dollar Jormungandr system. Though, that is if you overlook the illegal use of materials and human lives. Though all of such claims are unverified, as anyone who has attempted to research into them tends to go missing, or wind up face down in a ditch.

Glossary

Shards - Cosmic energy which provides the source of a Magical Girl's power. All Magical Girls, without exception, derive their power from a shard in one form or another, whether embedded in their bodies or from external sources. First known sources of Shards came about from the Cataclysm, when a shower of Shards appeared from the air within proximity of Constantinople, also the site of the first Shadow attack. Contrary to its name, it has no fixed form, sometimes unseen until a Magical Girl's power manifests. Thus far, no record of a male manifesting the powers of an embedded Shard has been known.

Thus far, few properties are known of the shards, besides granting Magical Girls immunity to disease and enhancing their physical attributes and slowing down ageing.

Magical Girls – Girls empowered by Shards. No one can accurately say why only females could use Shards when infused in their bodies. However, human ingenuity has allowed males to use Shards as external power sources.

Masked Protectors - Boys capable of using Shards as external power sources. Popularized by the helmeted Knights Hospitaliers of Rhodes, it evolved to encompass all 'Magical Boys', masked or not.

Shadows – Malevolent entities acting on instinct to devour all living things.

Relics - Items infused with Shards. Most date back to the Cataclysm, but a rare few date back as far as the 3rd Century BC. Usable for people of both genders.

Definitely. You just need to tweak it in context to Earth. :)

A RL town or city, to be specific. Basically, virtually all of Europe's nations have been wiped by the shadows, and paganism have once again become dominant in the absence of Christian-dominated feudalism. There is still Christianity around. It's just been severely weakened.

Character Information (Compulsory)
Name: Jinmao Aigiarn
Age: 20
Species (only one out of five can be a non-human): human
Affiliation (what Order you belong to): Order of White Lotus
Appearance (picture link is preferred): Link

Magical Description (Compulsory)
Magical Power: Lightning mainly.
Speciality (Offence, Defence, Support): Offence
Spells (with descriptions, three basic, one advanced):
  • Lightning Manipulation: (offence): Aigiarn is able to naturally generate lightning bolts from herself, as well as call lightning down to strike her opponent. This includes creating an arc of pure energy which leaps from the fingertips of the caster to the target or creating a clone of herself made out of lightning and blasts the area surrounding Aigarn with a wave of electricity.
  • Electric Shielding: (Defense): A simple Shield spell, added with electricity!
  • Air Wing: (Effect): Grants user flight
  • Storm of the Wild Goddess! (Advanced Spell): Conjures up a deadly, massive electric storm – the Wrath of Heaven at her command for duration of time.
Weapon (with description): Chinese-stylised Katana with gold embroidered.
Physical Description (Optional)
Height: Tall.
Weight: Slim.
Likes: Drinking alcohol, her family, China, mangoes, practising martial arts, reading, teasing people she likes, weapons, children
Dislikes: Pork, ‘smart-aleck idiots’ in her words, corruption
Personality: Happy-go-lucky, witty, playful but serious when the situation calls for it.

History (Compulsory)
Bios:

The Wildcat of the Far East, Aigiarn is the wandering-warrior and Crown Princess of her native homeland - China. Born as the eldest daughter of Altan - one of the most powerful statesmen in the Imperial Court, Aigiarn spent much of her youth learning martial arts, travelling with her father and her family, and reading books befitting her as a scholar in her own right. Though there’s an interesting rumour says that her family are direct descendants of Genghis Khan. Though she neither denies it, nor confirms it. But she took it as a pride of her Mongolian ancestry, considering her father’s lineage as Mongolian warriors.

Aigiarn is a proficient fighter and martial artist prodigy, a powerful warrior in her own right. Back home, she is one of the best Qing commanders with the respectable stature but she's also well-known to prefer fraternizing with her subordinates than doing paperwork. Notably, she treats her men as if they’re her children and in turn earning their undying loyalty for her. Partly Aigiarn prefers fraternizing with her subordinates than spending time doing paperwork.

But her most notorious case as a commander is her drunken Kung-Fu rampage in Beijing, trying to catch a band of robbers all by herself. But nonetheless a successful mission accomplished, despite leaving the small trail of obvious destruction in her wake.

Nevertheless this doesn't impede her from completing a long string of successful missions. Because of this, she quickly work all the way up as a Imperial army commander, all by herself as her own woman, never relying on connections and her diligence has paid-off. Not only that, her amicable personality and genius-level intellect had made Aigiarn as a highly-respected individual in Chinese society.

However, she was haunted by her dark past, serving her time as a magical warrior for her country. Yet she’s defiantly proud to bear it for the rest of her life. In her words, the scar on her face represented her hardships and the badge of honour in service for her beloved country and for the Son of Heaven, the Emperor.

She is a bit of a joker and a tomboy who puts emphasis on chivalry in life and respects those who do the same. Surprisingly to those who didn't know her, she is a very intelligent individual. Earlier they had an impression that she’s boisterous foreigner (despite her privilege royal background, she’s actually quite modest person).

Despite her tomboyish joker personality, she actually possesses the feminine side as a sensitive and thoughtful individual who yearns for a peaceful world, free of the shadows and love for her family. She has the hatred of pork meat, stemming from the death of her beloved pet pigs – Po and Bu, when she was a little child.

Aigiarn, accompanied by her friends and family were sent to Asteripolis three years ago as a foreign exchange student and diplomatic ambassador on behalf of her country, on orders of her Emperor in the attempt to improve bilateral relations. But so far, she wasn’t really successful with the Asteripolis Consul.

Nevertheless she enjoyed her stay and making new friends in the land of Terra. From there, she has part-time job with the White Lotus branch based in Asteripolis, making her living as a warrior.

Additional Information (Optional): Aigiarn is fluent in several languages. Also…she’s bad at singing songs…mostly.

OOC Information (Compulsory for non-invitees)
RP Example: Again, you know me.

Keep in mind that I may going to include moar characters here in the future. Stay tune~ ;)

Yay! First Order!

General Information (Compulsory)

Image

However, initial defences proved just as the frail as the 'holy leagues' further south, as the firey Grand Master Ludwig von Erlichshausen remained obstinate in barring the newly awakened Magical Girls - which he derogatorily termed 'satanic witches' - from joining the defence.

However, it proved to the people of the Baltic that God was still on their side, and newly, hastily ordained sisters took it upon themselves to reform the order into a powerful Magical Girl organization.

The knights of the Teutonic Order have harnessed fighting to an art, known for their hard-nosed, uncompromising style of combat.

Useful Information (Optional): Based off Nanoha... somewhat. :3

Character Information (Compulsory)
Name: Anna Löwenslachter
Age: 15
Affiliation: Teutonic Knights
Appearance:
Image

Magical Description (Compulsory)
Magical Power: Blades
Speciality (Offence, Defence, Support): Defense
Spells (with descriptions, three basic, one advanced):
  • Impalement: A longsword appears, hurtling to an opponent of Anna's choice and impaling them.
  • Dagger Shield: Thousands of daggers swarm Anna's arm, creating a prickling shield of metal.
  • Sharper than Air: Anna can make one bladed object exponentially sharper. Note that she can only effect one blade at a time.
  • Wall of Blades: Anna can create a massive wall composed of not merely swords, but also axes, halberds and generally any bladed object.
Weapon (with description): A massive dull grey broadsword, with absolutely no ornamentation.

Physical Description (Optional)
Likes: killing Shadows, saving people
Dislikes: fun, God, religion, people who don't take life seriously
Personality: Intelligent, ridiculously cynical and pessimistic, obsessed with killing Shadows, silent (unless she's telling someone off).

History (Compulsory)
Bios: Anna was born in a small village near the edges of Teutonic territory. Sheltered as a child, she didn't have much experience with Shadows, despite living near areas still controlled by the horrible beasts. Instead, she spent most of her time reading (mostly the Bible), praying and learning combat theory, for her powers developed at a young age.

At the age of ten, she was removed from her home and began her official training as a sister. While her skills were remarkable, many criticized the fact that she treated combat like a game. Despite this, her personality was so outgoing and friendly that most couldn't resist being friends with her. The team that she was in was closely bonded, mostly because of Anna, and extremely effective.

Then the Massacre at Blumental took place. It's unclear exactly what occurred during this terrible event, as the only survivor, Anna, refuses to speak of it, but what is clear is that Anna's entire squad, with the exception of her, was slaughtered. Anna was found during the recovery of the bodies, lying so still that she was at first thought dead; her face frozen in an expression of horror.

It took several days of treatment before the girl even began to communicate and several weeks before it was possible to assess the full mental damage that she had suffered. The formerly fun-loving, outgoing girl had become a silent introvert, driven solely by her desire for revenge on the Shadows. Where before she had preferred to work with a team, she now worked alone, unless forced. Despite this, however, if she was forced to work with any magical girls, she would protect them with her life, prizing their safety far above her own.

Her combat style had changed too. Where before she had been a reckless warrior, charging into a battle with a cry on her lips and her sword in her hands, she was now much more tactical, preferring to utilize shields and cover to disorient or hide from a shadow until she could strike a killing blow. The mental scarring was so severe that even the basic nature of her magic changed. While her power had always been blades, her defensive magic was now much stronger, whereas her offensive skills had waned.

One change that she has managed to hide from her superiors so far is her lack of faith in God. While she still takes part in all of the prayers and rituals assigned, she doesn't believe that they mean anything. Her belief is that God is either a being of evil, for killing so many so callously, in which case he should not be worshiped, or (much more likely in her opinion) he simply does not exist.

Can I create more than one character?

Character Information (Compulsory)
Name: Olivia Vilhjalmsdotter
Age: 19
Affiliation (what Order you belong to): Order of Saint Olav [A small order in Scandinavia. Closely allied with the Teutonic Knights, though not as bloodthirsty and significantly more liberal in thought. This is not to say they are peace-loving hippies, far from it, they've reclaimed vast swaths of Scandinavia]
Appearance (picture link is preferred): link

Magical Description (Compulsory)
Magical Power: Ice, snow, wind. You know, wintry stuff. Mana color is a pale cyan. Can create anything out of ice.
Speciality (Offence, Defence, Support): Defence
Spells (with descriptions, three basic, one advanced):
  • Norðri: Vivi summons a blast of frigid, hurricane-force wind, laden with stilettos of ice.
  • Körmt: A shapeable wall of superchilled water. Touching it causes it to freeze solid around the point of contact. [Vivi herself is immune to this]
  • Bifröst: A simple teleportation spell. Gives a general idea where she [Or whom/whatever she teleports] is going as it leaves a rainbow trail as she goes, however, the trail is slower than she is, so she can easily teleport multiple times.
  • Frostisen: A flowing stream of ice spikes as thick as her forearm. Can be used for both offensive and defensive purposes.
Weapon (with description): Skaði - A single-handed warhammer. She can direct her magic with it, or fire bolts of ice from the tip of the handle. Talks, in Norwegian of course.

Physical Description (Optional)
Height: 201 cm
Weight: 88 kg
Likes: Mead, fighting Shadows, being tall, raiding defenseless Baltic villages like a good Viking,
Dislikes: Prudish people, Shadows, stupid/unoriginal tall people jokes, being caged in
Personality: Relaxed, with a sort of joie de vivre. Uses extreme violence as a last resort. First comes intense violence, then regular violence, then minor violence.

History (Compulsory)
Bios: A somewhat low-born girl raised on the northern of the two tips of the Scandinavian Peninsula. Living much of her life in a small village, she grew up feeling ensnared, like she would never really get out of the aforementioned small village. That is, until her powers started kicking in at the exact same time as the St Olavs Orden recruiters were in the area. Naturally, she joined, leaping at the chance to get out and see the world - or at least the rest of Scandinavia!

That was a little over ten years ago. Numerous tests of strength in combat against Shadows, Sami, and other heretics, and she's on her way to the Asteria competition as one of St Olav's representatives.

Additional Information (Optional): TBAL

Oh dear, Ai is more likely to get along with Olivia than Anna. :3

She has a bad habit of annoying serious individuals for her antics.

Home City: Rome

Useful Information (Optional):

General Information (Compulsory)

Bio: s its name and their leader Boudicca claims, the Spears of Andraste are Celtic to the core. While theoretically open to all Magical Girls like its sister orders, the vast majority of the Spears are Celtic or Norse pagan, many of whom come from the British Isles and as far as French Britanny and Normandy. What few Christians within the Spears, part of the Longinus branch, face constant intimidation by its other members, and only Boudicca's fiery mouth could temper the attitudes of their peers.
