Damn bats and their tiny forms being hard to hit! How dare they dodge her attack? And on top of that, it hit her with its wing, again! Aria was by now understandably upset and startled by these things. She tried to focus on once again using her butter knife to bring one of those darn creatures down, but she just couldn't.

"Screw this! Lilian, you handle that one." Aria said to her teammate, cowering behind her tiny butter knife.

Lilian looked back to Aria. Her knees were a bit weak. "Okay!" she shouted back to her. She turned her head, facing the bats. "I'll end this... y-you foul creatures!" she shouted. She ran towards one of the bats and jumped. Her sword over her head preparing to land a powerful blow.

Elder: Excellent! Now brace yourself because I am going to engage you in combat and it might be a little disorienting at first.

The village square fades away before your eyes and before you realize you are standing in an open field of grass with a wall of houses surrounding you on all sides. The Elder seems unphased by all this and calmly keeps talking.

Elder: This is where you go when you are fighting something. Many monsters will engage you in combat before you even know they are there and sometimes you can choose to fight someone or something yourself. You might notice that you have six options that you can pick in battle. Attack, Defend, Skill, Item, and Run. Each of these has a different and obvious purpose. Right now I want you to attack me with your Magic Buzzing Wand, don't worry about hurting me I'm tougher than I look and can take it.

Attack HIM? I mean, I know he said he's tougher than he looks, but he is so....old....Oh well, here goes nothing. Rigo charged with his magic buzzing wand.

Elder: Very good Rigo. You might notice now that you feel very tired after attacking. That's totally normal, you just need to wait a few seconds and you will feel just fine again. Now when you get your energy back I want you to attack me again, but this time I want you to use your STATIC ZAP skill on me - select SKILL and then select STATIC ZAP and give it your best shot!

Aria frowned. Why couldn't they be gone? She wanted them to be gone. So, she figured she'd try to make them be gone again. Thus, gathering her courage, she once again readied her butter knife and attempted to stab the bat.

When you defend you are harder to hit and take significantly less damage. I want you to defend yourself against me when I attack you this time by selecting DEFEND as your next action. Ready?

Sometimes you will be attacked by an enemy that is stronger than you, or you just don't feel like fighting them for whatever reason. This is when the RUN option comes in handy. When you run from battle any status effects afflicted on you will remain unless you get them treated but you will also keep any items or money you might have pilfered from your attacker. So now I want you to select the RUN option to end this sparring match.

"You know, for the sake of the party, I shall try to do so, though I have to ask that you get a ride home for that reason," Niall stated as the party waited on the other side. He thought that it was suspicous that she was being sent on a fetch quest with such a short distance, and deduced that there were going to be rowdy party-goers who might attack.

"Sure thing." Arion said. "Thanks."

The bouncer opens the gate for you and stands aside, the party is now open to you.

Bouncer: Here you go, get me something strawberry flavored if you can please?

"Good lord, that is a lot of pixellation!" Niall gasped with sarcastic glee when he caught a glimpse of the party, no matter how tame it was. "Okay, humor later, strawberry daiquiris come first," Nial stated as she charged forth through the party.

You can't be sure what had awoken you for certain but an orange glow on the horizon greets you. Perhaps the sun is coming up? You get comfortable in your bed once more but a glance at the clock tells you that it is far too early for sunrise, and something smells like charcoal... OMG there is a fire somewhere in the village! You rush out of bed and grab your gear and then...

Aria saw the orange glow and caught the scent of charcoal and immediately knew that something was wrong. Grabbing her trusty butter knife and her angsty hood, and rushed off to find the source of the fire. She couldn't just let the village burn, after all. Sure, she wasn't exactly brave, but this was her home and everything. Hopefully she wouldn't be the only one awake though. She couldn't possibly do anything to stop the fire all by herself.

[Altruistic Paladins]

"Hey, would you get more kindling?" Niall asked Aria holding out sticks for roasting kielbasa. While others saw an emergency that is their hotel catching on fire, Niall saw a good opportunity for an early breakfast----revenge for the lack of a stove-top in the room. "Know who started this? I need to kick his ass. One part of the inferno is over four-hundred degrees while another part was over one thousand. That is a good recipe for loosing a stomach to food poisoning my friend."

Lilian charged out of her rooms to see where to fire was. She saw Aria and some other boy was awake as well. She walked over to the other two. "You okay good sir and lady," she said. She looked to the fire, "We should wake the town. Get everyone out here to help before the fire spreads too much."
