You can see some birds that you imagine might be pretty hungry by this point and are just waiting to be fed.

You fill the bird feeder with seed, nothing ambushes you, nobody attempts to stop you, and the birds don't seem to be monsters in a clever disguise waiting for you to show a moment where you are not aware. Kinda boring really. The first feeder has been filled to capacity and you have 3/4 of a bag left. What now?

You recieve a refreshing lemon-lime flavored jolt of caffiene goodness, all SP is restored!

Elder: Now I only have two more lessons to impart to you before you are certified as ready to do battle! Ready for the first one?

Before you can even answer that crazy old man hits you with his walking stick! You take 3HP in damage!

Elder: I just hit you and lowered your HP. HP is your Hit Points, its a measure of how tough and healthy you are, and as you found out losing HP hurts, the more you lose the more it will hurt. Now I'm going to teach you about the defend action. Defend action uses your turn to prepare you against attack, its good to have if your low on items or trying to figure out an enemy's attack pattern. When you defend you are harder to hit and take significantly less damage. I want you to defend yourself against me when I attack you this time by selecting DEFEND as your next action. Ready?

Lilian covered her bruise. The walking stick hurt a lot. The elder was an adventurer in his youth but she didn't know he still had it in him. She rubbed it a bit to soothe the pain. "Okay, sir," she said.

>Defend

She raised up her LARP shield and prepared for the next attack.

The elder swings his cane at you once again and you block it with your shield!

Elder: I missed you completly! The defense action can be a life saver on the field of battle.

The Elder casts a spell and you feel your bruises and cuts numb and then fade completly away, your HP has been restored!

Elder: All better now right? Now I have one last final thing to teach you and you will know all the basics of combat. Sometimes you will be attacked by an enemy that is stronger than you, or you just don't feel like fighting them for whatever reason. This is when the RUN option comes in handy. When you run from battle any status effects afflicted on you will remain unless you get them treated but you will also keep any items or money you might have pilfered from your attacker. So now I want you to select the RUN option to end this sparring match.

On your way to the Southern Part of the village you notice a population sign that reads POPULATION 156.

The southern part of the village has a BLACKSMITH as well as the INN.

So that was it, then? They were nearly finished with the combat tutorial, and for her troubles she had gotten to drink a free CaffPow, get healed and gain one keikec, also for free. Oh, and she had learned how to fight, of course. That also probably counted. Either way, all in all, it had been a productive combat tutorial.

So Aria decided not to delay it.

When the sign appeared, Niall stared at it for nearly a minute. The village was very generously a hamlet at most, more likely just a rural area given a name for census purposes. For all that was said, a sudden realization came-upon Niall.

"I am in rural backwater." It took a minute to realize that this place was decidedly uneventful, the town constable probably also being the village judge, village jury, and village jailer, with his court being held in a general store.

It took a moment for the sheer ludicrously rural nature of the place to become acknowledged. Without recourse, Niall went to the Inn, hoping to find an individual sitting in a corner looking at his drink as an adventure hook.

You escape from the battle and the elder beams at you both

Elder: Excellent job, you learned quickly and could make fine adventurers if you wanted to. Now that you know the basics you should be just fine if you encounter a monster. I have one final piece of advice for you both. You can also use items and some abilities on the people you are fighting on the same side with to keep them healthy and energetic. That's everything I can teach you, the rest you'll have to learn on your own.

The Inn is pretty empty at this time of day with the exception of yourself and a bored looking Innkeeper. There is a notice board in one corner of the room that is empty except for a single flyer announcing a birthday party for the miller on the east side of the village.

"Cool." Aria replied, a little bit woozy because of the sudden change in scene. It'd take her a bit to get used to that, but hey, at least she had an extra keikec and a lot more experience in battle. Sure, maybe she could be a great adventurer, and find and hoard lots of treasures!

Hmm, no, that wouldn't do. Hoarding is something dungeon masters do and she knew that heroes were the kind of people that kicked those other people's asses. So, she would probably spend it. Didn't sound very undesirable, either. Maybe she could become a rich and famous adventurer!

"Thank you Mr. Elder." She said with a smile, before turning to that other girl she saw also taking the combat tutorial. "Hey, want to go and have an adventure?"

Aria smiled. So this girl, who by the way looked really strong, or at least strong enough to hide behind if something went wrong, was up for an adventure. That was always good. However, she soon realized something. Though the intention was there, she really didn't know where to start looking for an adventure.

"Um... I don't know where to go to have an adventure, though." She said. "Do you?" She asked afterwards.

Lilian blanked. She had the adventuring spirit. Yet now that she was put on the spot, she couldn't think of anything.

"Ummmmm..." she said, "I have no idea." Then a light bulb appeared over her head (imagination). She faced the Elder.

"Good Elder," she said, slightly bowing, "Where are good places to go adventuring for two beginners like us?"

"Well, time to knock out the last two." Arion said. "I think I'll head to Village North."

The Northern part of the village is home to a WAREHOUSE and the ITEM shop. The Old Lady mentioned that the bird feeder you are searching for is behind the warehouse.

The blacksmith sizes you up for a second.

Blacksmith: Well I don't have any work for you but I might have some things you could buy.

He lists everything he has within your price range that you can use.

Weapons
Magic Buzzing Wand [+1 magic, +1 attack, + electricity magic] Cost: 40 keikec

Armor
Bathrobe [+1 armor] Cost: 20 keikec

"I'll take the wand please", said Rigo. "Also, can you point me to the Apothecary? I need to buy herbs for my father."
