A keikec! Now she had thirty-six keikec, one more than her peers who had gone for the medicinal herb and had bought nothing else! Not that she would know that, of course, but the sensation of a very slightly heavier pocket had a soothing property only thieves could properly appreciate. Thieves and poor people, probably.

But it was true, she felt a bit drained. Fortunately, she got another CaffPow, and for free, which meant that she didn't have to use up the one she got from the kids playing hide-n-seek or waste a single keikec! Truly, taking this training was a great idea.

She put her hand on her hip and with the other one she raised the CaffPow and drank it up, feeling restored afterwards.

Now when you get your energy back I want you to attack me again, but this time I want you to use your BONK skill on me - select SKILL and then select BONK and give it your best shot!

"Yeah, even the roach didn't want to touch you," Niall impugned instinctively before she took a moment to determine profit. "Ten-to-fifteen is a two-to-three ratio. Twenty-five Keikec times zero-point-four equals ten. Twenty-five minus ten Keikec equals fifteen Keikec. The cost of healing items and hotels are unknown, so there is the possibility of a return on the investment. If not, maybe he will be in the middle of a fight to do not even an even amount of damage and demand a fifty-fifty cut of the profits," Niall disdainfully thought as he did the mathematics in thought for a return on the investment. Either way, his disdain for her potential new-found antagonist was present. With twenty-five being the price of the job, he decided her cut as she exited the warehouse.

"Officer, as the person who crushed sixty-percent of the bug, I shall accept fifteen Keikec since the pay was for the task of killing the insect, not the cost of hiring. The person who went onto the property without informed permission will probably want ten Keikec for crushing forty-percent of the insect assuming you do not try to ticket him for trespassing assuming that your legal system does not have a 'Gain Ground 'Gainst Grubs' law," Niall said in a calm tone as he explained what happened to the constable.

The southern part of the village once succeeded from the north and started a long and bloody civil conflict is the hospitality district of the village where only the friendliest people live. It has the BLACKSMITH and the INN here. Also there is some weird guy who moved over from Pinecrest Castle who keeps a treasure chest in his basement, which is unlocked, and stocked with items useful for adventurers - he claims its some kind of big city custom.

The blacksmith mostly makes pots, pans, and horseshoes but has the occasional weapon or piece of armor he's collected or made over the years. He's a barrel chested man with strong arms and a leather apron (you know the sort) and is currently busy using the bellows on his stove.

Blacksmith: Hello Rigo, anything I can do for you?

Aria suddenly felt really hurt because of the Elder's attack. "Oww..." She really hadn't expected that, despite the fact this was a battle tutorial. But at least she was still okay, relatively, and the next instructions didn't seem too bad. They involved getting hit again but at least it would hurt less... Supposedly.

Either way, she complied.

She held up her tiny butter knife defensively in front of her.

Elder: Well done! You might have noticed that your SP has decreased by a few points. Every time you use a skill it will cost some of your SP. SP can only be regained through resting or by using items. I'm going to give you a CaffPow which will restore your lost SP when you drink it. Select ITEM and then CAFFPOW to restore your SP.

Lilian felt like a bit of some energy had left her. This SP thing must be it. She took the Caffpow from the Elder. A menu (imagination) popped up.

Items
>Caffpow

You recieve a refreshing lemon-lime flavored jolt of caffiene goodness, all SP is restored!

Elder: Now I only have two more lessons to impart to you before you are certified as ready to do battle! Ready for the first one?

Before you can even answer that crazy old man hits you with his walking stick! You take 3HP in damage!

Elder: I just hit you and lowered your HP. HP is your Hit Points, its a measure of how tough and healthy you are, and as you found out losing HP hurts, the more you lose the more it will hurt. Now I'm going to teach you about the defend action. Defend action uses your turn to prepare you against attack, its good to have if your low on items or trying to figure out an enemy's attack pattern. When you defend you are harder to hit and take significantly less damage. I want you to defend yourself against me when I attack you this time by selecting DEFEND as your next action. Ready?

Aria suddenly felt really hurt because of the Elder's attack. "Oww..." She really hadn't expected that, despite the fact this was a battle tutorial. But at least she was still okay, relatively, and the next instructions didn't seem too bad. They involved getting hit again but at least it would hurt less... Supposedly.

Either way, she complied.

">Defend"

She held up her tiny butter knife defensively in front of her.

"...This is stupid."

Once the Elder is satisfied that you are prepared he attacks again, this time you're ready and move with the attack and end up being barely scratched. You take 1HP in damage this time.

See how much less you were hurt? I almost missed you completly! The defense action can be a life saver on the field of battle.

The Elder casts a spell and you feel your bruises and cuts numb and then fade completly away, your HP has been restored!

Elder: All better now right? Now I have one last final thing to teach you and you will know all the basics of combat. Sometimes you will be attacked by an enemy that is stronger than you, or you just don't feel like fighting them for whatever reason. This is when the RUN option comes in handy. When you run from battle any status effects afflicted on you will remain unless you get them treated but you will also keep any items or money you might have pilfered from your attacker. So now I want you to select the RUN option to end this sparring match.

Old Lady: There is one at each end of the village except for here in the square, the one in Northern Village is on a pole behind the warehouse, the feeder in East Village is in the tree by the Miller's House, I also have a bird feeder outside the Apothecary in West Village, and the last one is in South Village by the Inn. Please fill them for me.

"Ok, thanks. I'll get right on it." Arion said, taking the bird seed, and then heading towards South Village. "I'll be back as soon as I'm done." they said, before walking out of the lady's earshot.

Quest Complete!

You receive 20 keikec and earn 25 EXP!

Constable: Was there anything else I could help you with?

"Are there any other jobs with which the force needs help, or should I just inquire as to where the nearest inn is?" Niall asked, leaning with an elbow on the bat as though it was a counter-top.

The Constable looks a bit incredulous for a second.

Constable: I thought you were new here. There is no force really, just little old me. I don't need any deputies or anything here since Randomvillageville is all but crime free! It's been rewarded as safest place to live every year for decades except that one year when Widow Lane's cat scratched the carpenter but that is all in the past. If your looking for an Inn we have one in the Hospitality District in the Southern Village. I don't really have any more jobs for you right now but if I find something that needs crushed you'll be at the top of my list of crush-worthy candidates.

The south of Randomvillageville is known as the hospitality district and has the INN and the BLACKSMITH located here. The birdfeeder is pretty easy to find and hangs right on the Inn's porch, all you have to do is pour some seeds in and find the next one.

"Well, she did say that it was near the inn, and it shouldn't be that hard to find a bird feeder there." Arion said to themself.
