I think you guys need to remember that water territory does not work the same as land territory. Your ability to restrict travel across water is much more limited than land.

Denmark is part of the EU, which is currently run by Germany (unfortunately, since France is highly inactive), and as we see right now, German ships are allowed wherever they want, as long as the nations waters are in the EU. As are British, French, Spanish, etc etc.

Copenhagen practically bows to Merkel, and frankly they aren't fans of Russia, neither is Sweden. Realistically if the EU banned Russian ships from passing through their waters your be forced to use arctic and pacific ports.

Plus with the EU/NATO/ASEAN/India/Japan trade bans, you'd loose the vast majority of your trade partners.

Also Hobbes, you can't remove a P5 member but you can recognize a succeeding government. For example when China went communist and RoC was pushed to Taiwan the UN recognized Beijing's government. This also happens in the GA, for example Laos and Vietnam after their civil wars.

It can be done, but it would be extremely controversial. Especially since you're restricting civilian, not military, traffic.

Most countries in the world have agreed they will not restrict civilian traffic. It is rare that exceptions to this rule occur (i.e. North Korea, Palestine).
