Kinshasa, Congo
Abwembe coughed as sweat flowed down her forehead. She had been experiencing slight headaches and temporary memory loss, among other strange symptoms like dystonia, rapid eye blinking, which hinted at some sort of neural or psychological anomaly. These symptoms caused slight discomfort and even slight discomfort was never good due to the fact that the woman earned miserably small amounts of payment and had barely enough to feed herself and her five children, considering that her husband(who had suffered similar symptoms) died a week ago due to a fatal accident at a factory. Abwembe's mother also had to be cared after, considering she had problems with walking, although she did bring in some income from selling clothes she had woven herself.
All because of a single parasite that has, in such a short span of time managed to already breach the blood brain barrier. A parasite that could lead to the doom of humanity. A parasite that had emerged to the surface after millions of years of controlling unintelligent insects and salamanders in the deep African caves.
After three days, her mother, children, brothers and friends appeared to show similar symptoms while Abwembe's appeared to be worsening. She now had cases of confusion and she often thought as if she isn't always controlling the actions she does, as if there is another force compelling her. During the day she would often find her mood changing as she began experiencing early signs of a strange form of psychosis as well as a want to do strange actions involving other people, such as apparently purposely bumping into people and a strange form of speech.
Within another two days, Abwembe almost entirely ceased to notice the effects of the Worm, however her personality was now changing. She would unknowingly help spread the disease as the Worm would learn to take more and more control of its hosts, manipulating their will and want.
It would take only three weeks for half of Kinshasa's population become infected, the infection now spread over Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, CAR, Angola and a myriad of Western African countries. By now, Abwembe would be heavily influenced by the Worm and Kinshasa would become the epicentre of the infection, with every single living person in the city infected. While Luanda and Lagos prepared to share the same fate as the infection spread unnoticed by the poor African healthcare.
This is an RP about a parasitic worm creature pandemic that will engulf the world in anarchy and terror, where your and others' characters attempt to survive and find a cure to stop the potential end of humanity.
All characters will be living/visiting in East London, this is to make things easier when it comes to grouping up among other things. This RP might end up, or might not, encompassing the whole world, it all depends on the characters' actions, decisions and the plot me and my Co-OPs set. Please, no super military characters and this RP will be realistic as possible in terms of chance, science and so on. I will accept military characters if I know you or if you are a very good RPer.
On one side, there will be government/civilian organizations responding to this new "infection". On the other side, there will be characters who are normal civilians reacting to this new outbreak. As players, you have a chance to play both perspectives, and indeed, encouraged to do so.
Players are encouraged to make two different characters. One will deal with local authorities/military response/medical & scientific minds to solve this mystery. The other character will be a normal civilian whose life will turn for the worst and up to him/her to survive this outbreak. You are not required to have two characters, as both perspective can (and likely will) mix together at times.
This RP will reveal the true human nature and how the characters come to deal with the fact that perhaps, The Worm is a lot better than any human.
