There is a mecha named Titan? And what is this landmate?

I think Pret is talking about the Titans from Titanfall (which, IMHO, aren't mini-mecha).

The Landmate is a power armor/mech hybrid from the Appleseed series.

IMTO, they are minimecha. They're small, they're piloted, and they're not power armor.

They are different?

Robots =/= mechs.

Titans from Titanfall are obviously mechs. I fail to see how they would be robots, other than that they have a simple, in-built AI.

Been reading a bit about Diplomacy and thought it would be cool to do an AWRP/AHRP based loosely on its core concepts (alliances, power politics, betrayal/international intrigue, etc), where the focus is less on long boring paragraphs that tend to keep 90% of the people who join an RP from actually posting (making these types of posts more optional), and focusing more on shorter descriptive paragraphs of actions a nation takes.

People post once or twice during a specific "phase", which ends with a recap post by the OP or a Co-OP describing the main events during the phase, with possible random events added in for fun. So the goal becomes more playing a nation and turning its armies on your enemies for fun rather than creating this large narrative, where the hope is the narrative will come together on its own as it is supposed to if everyone is participating and having fun.

I've played quite a few games of Diplomacy with my friends. We still have shouting matches over one of them stabbing me in the back over Trieste. It's a great game when you can get going properly, and I'd probably be down for an NS version of it.

Cool. I'm thinking about quantifying it a bit more; giving every nation an industrial rating and using that to determine the ability to field certain army sizes, etc.

You could try looking into the Youngstown variant of Diplomacy, it includes the rest of the world and the colonial empires, so it might be worth checking out.

From the MT RP perspective, it's kind of nice to be able to say that things that have been made are 'realistic' and could exist in the real world, if only we had the budget. For some, it also helps their suspension of disbelief to make their things obey the laws of physics and military design as we know it. Making some 'plays' to realism also just help with suspension of disbelief as well. I mean, that is--and remains--my issue with some of the anime super-robot style mecha and humanoid mecha in general: the kind of idealised lines and shape break my suspension of disbelief of them as real, working, military machines, while more utilitarian LOOKING designs keeps that suspense of disbelief going, thus keeping myself in universe.

That's a fault of the Super Robot genre, mostly. Usually, Real Robot shows are much better at mantaining the suspension of disbelief for realism-oriented viewers. Gundam handled it with Minovsky Physics.

I suppose, but for me at least, the overly humanised structure was never an aesthetic choice that struck me as real. It always served to pull me out of the system. The ones which were kind of human, but still very much a machine like the Glasgow and Sutherland from Geass were way better when compared to the very human ones. They just don't look utilitarian enough to strike me as actual military vehicles. They always remind me more of a tricked out sports care than a combat system.

Detailed Description: It's 2005, almost 7 years after the Raccoon City Incident. There has been some mysterious experiments in Japan, particularly in Hokkaido, in a small city in the south of Hokkaido. It's been said that the experiments involving former Umbrella scientists that are still alive and well, and funded by an unknown sponsor.

It's December 31st of 2005, when the outbreak happened in Hokkaido. No one knows why or when that happened. By January 10th of 2006, half of Hokkaido had been decimated, either by the outbreak, or riots. What left from the survivors are now heading to the main island of Japan. Will you survive or will you turn into one of the zombies? Time will tell. Beware though, there are zombies, creatures, and even deranged citizens bend on killing you.
