I am having trouble thinking of an RP, for once. My South African detective RP was a failure, considering that no one wanted to join it. I'm thinking Expedition RP or an RP focusing on PMCs, but my heart is telling me to create some sort of Mystery or Survival Horror RP. P2TM Gods?

The best way would be if everyone drew their characters, but then again, I can't draw at all, myself, and I think most people can't either.

I can't draw or describe how I imagine my characters appearances worth a crap, and I don't like using anime characters for my RP characters as much as possible, as well, hence I usually end up with using pictures of actors/actress' for my characters appearances. And I like people to have a mental image they can visualize better than you might get out of a description of said character, anyway. Though I have gotten some pretty accurate mental images of what I see a character as from descriptions before.

But then again, I don't even consider myself to be a great RP writer, anyway. Decent, but not great. There's a lot of people on this forum who put me to shame easily with their intricate details in their posts and whatnot. But I wouldn't consider myself to be BAD, just not that great. I do better at coming up with plot ideas for my characters than I do at actually writing them out. Oftentimes I mentally imagine the plot being typed out fancier than I actually execute it.

Expedition RP with PMCs that turns into mystery or survival horror.

Or I can do a Heavy Rain-esque RP, except with snow and a small town in the middle of nowhere replacing the rain and Philadelphia. I'll have to think up of a new MO for the killer, if I were to do this RP. It could turn into a mystery/horror RP, too.

I was thinking something more along the lines of Spec Ops: The Line where the horror part of it comes from having to deal with the consequences of morally ambiguous actions and seeing what kinds of sick things man is capable of.

That was a bad call, but did he have any way of knowing that he was about to mortar a bunch of civilians with White Phosphorous?

As I recall, they thought they were enemy combatants, didn't they?

I'd try something with a similar concept, but in a different setting. Like a civil war in Africa or the Middle East between two sides who are equally awful.

Yeah. He thought that he was assaulting an enemy stronghold, but it turned out that they were just trying to shelter the civilians.

The scene could be interpreted as morally ambiguous, in the sense that the mechanics of the game do not allow for any other action but mindless slaughter. Within the confines of the game, the mortar bombing is neither good nor evil, it is simply something that must happen, irrespective of moralization. Indeed, the horrific death of women and children has already happened, and you're just playing through the coded script.

Of course, the narrative always points out that though you that there are no meaningful choices within the game, you always have the choice to put down the controller and do something more productive with your time. You, the player, are the bad guy, for choosing to see things through-- if we accept that the events in the game can be labeled as products of good or bad actions.

Okay, I really need help with timeline, a timeline about the events leading up to the apocalypse in a post-apocalyptic RP I'm making.

Just look at it.

1972-The US government becomes privatized, other Western countries soon follow.

1973-McDonalds become the world's first mega-corporation, beginning to take over the remains of the Food and Drug Administration.

1975-Police becomes privatized and becomes nothing more then guns-for-hire, the NRA soon follows.

1976-Coca-cola and Pepsi become Mega-Corporations, and soon engage in the first war between mega-corporations, using subterfuge and attacks each others headquarters to destroy each other, who won the war is debatable.

1979-The Soviet Union, beginning to fail behind in the economy, begins to fall apart, as revolutions, some Mega-Corporation sponsored, begin to happen in their satellite states.

1980-Soviet Union is taken over by Mega-Corporations, their satellite states soon follow.

1990-The middle east, one of the last bastions to not be taken over by Mega-Corporations, is invaded by a coalition of oil companies. The war last's until 1992.

1992-The war in the middle east ends, with Oil Companies United (OCA) takes over Pakistan. Rebel groups soon appear all over the Middle East, especially in Afghanistan.

1998-McDonald's become the head Mega-Corporation of the US, and is also one of the largest.

2000-Rebel's begin to appear in the US and UK, other countries soon follow. The Rebels are mostly men and women who have lost their homes, jobs and dream and are tried of the poor living conditions, as the Corporations see no point in maintaining basic needs in Rural areas.

2001-Norinco unites Japan and China under the United Asian Front (UAF), McDonald's influence soon spreads to South America.

2002-McDonald's and several other American Mega-Corporations send troops into central and south america, to quell the "Military Junta's" also known as Central and South America companies and corporations.

2012-The War in Central and South America ends, with America being united under the "United American Alliance" (UAA).

2014-Corporations in former USSR states form into one alliance, the "

I'm watching True Detective. Looking through the press, it was to be originally set in the Appalachians, and follow cult murders surrounding the lucrative meth trade-- as well as more esoteric themes tied to the King in Yellow mythos. Due to tax specifics the story was revised to take place in coastal Louisiana, but the story still rings true.

The point is that I'd definitely be interested in a sort of detective, horror, noir roleplay.

P2TM is a dumping ground for non-NS roleplays.

That might sound harsh, but bear in mind that this is still NS and it can't accommodate any more than one forum for this stuff. That we even got P2TM in the first place is amazing and I still don't believe it.

Anyways, I don't really see why.

I have gotten definitely better over the years but not really significantly so. Good enough for me, though. My characters at the start were all way too alike. I still have some like that, especially with my lack of dialogue range, but it isn't as terrible as it used to be and at least I feel like I'm making interesting characters now. Though I've been going on a sort of spree where I have barely any good ideas for new characters, but my mind still has lots of ideas running through for ideas in RP's themselves.

You don't have to be terribly creative in order to be a good RPer; though a good writer is one of its traits, it isn't essential as long as you're a decent writer.

Khan, for example - he's a good writer, yes, but very rarely does he show it. (He often complains about losing something in the translation, as I said earlier, as well as being generally too lazy to construct something good in English.) He is, however, cooperative and detailed enough for others to understand what he's saying, which you need to be a good RPer

But Khan is an asshole, so don't follow his example in other regards.

Well, I started calling him Khan a while ago; I guess others have as well, given as I'm probably the person people most frequently see him talk with nowadays.

It wasn't that long ago that most people called him Night. The majority still might, I don't pay much attention.
