Prologue Portion

It was very strange. About a furlong south, from the south edge of Ponyville, on the outward south road, things were happening. First, one morning, a rocky section of land, big enough for two barns, was found marked off with stones and a sign facing the road had been set up. The sign read, "coming soon". The next morning all of the scrub-brush had been cleared away. On the third morning, a passing pony could see that all the rocks in the area had been broken to the size of gravel and that the grade had been leveled. On the morning after that, the leveled area had been covered in fine concrete cement. On the fifth morning, a frame of metal had been imbedded in the concrete and stretched straight up to a height of six meters, before curving to a central apex of nine meters. On the sixth morning, stone walls, a chimney, high glass windows, a clay tile roof, large bronze doors were in place, a large ornately crafted metal box for mail, along wih an artistic brass "shingle" hanging above the doors which read, " 'Excellence In Metal Working' Night-Fire the Dragon, Proprietor". On the seventh morning, a shimmering wave of heat and some small smoke could be seen rising from the chimney and a pony intently listening could have heard the sound of something big... snoring.

Appearance: Pitch black unicorn stallion.

Bio: Born in Manehatten, Pitch Black grew up orphaned, and alone; a loneliness that drove him mad, and eventually insane. Growing up without ever finding his cutiemark, he started out as a thief for the sake of survival, and, as he became more delusional, a murderer and anarchist. The insane Pitch Black terrorized Equestria for years. Not too long ago, he was captured and tried for his crimes including: several bombings, theft, countless murders, and ultimately attempted assassination of Celestia herself, delusionally seeing her as 'a threat to his own existence'. He was sent to a mental institution in Canterlot, where he was to be treated for his illness, however he escaped and is on the run. He's hiding somewhere in Ponyville
Personality: Psychotic, Schizophrenic, and delusional; he is mentally unstable, and therefore, if not helped properly, a potential danger to himself and others.

Name: Clock Work

Species: Earth Pony

Sex: Stallion

Residence: Ponyville, in a small house with a basement underneath. Basement is same size and house above and is filled with inventions.

Occupation: Inventor

Appearance: Coat is rumoured to be a sparkling brassy colour but he is usually covered in grease, charcoal smudges and oil so it is black. His mane and tail are also usually covered in smudges and stains but they are a soft brown colour. He wears a pair of goggles that make his deep hazel eyes seem HUGE! And a top hat when out in public.

Cutiemark: A pair of gears meshed together with a spring (like the kind in a clock) in the background.

Bio: Clock Work spent his entire life tinkering with things. At the age of three he had dismantled and reassembled most of his toys. By age four he had dismantled a clock but spent hours crying when he couldn't put it back together. In his teenage years Clock began taking an interest in steam engines and how they worked. He did a brief span as an engineer on the equestrian express before he eventually settled down in his cozy house in Ponyville and began his career as an inventor. . . He still hasn't got 'round to putting that clock back together.

Personality: Clock takes a relaxed outlook on life and prefers to pause and smell the flowers than dash around at top speed worrying about his next invention. "If you want me to run around and panic you should have threatened a cupcake. . . Then I'd be worried." He answered when somepony asked why he was lounging around in a hammock in the middle of the day.

Pitch grew up orphaned, and alone, unable to relate to anypony. So, in his delusions, he created his own 'friends' for him to talk and relate to. "Theft" (Pitch's kleptomania) was 'born' when Pitch began to steal for survival, "Murder" (Pitch's paranoia) was 'born' when Pitch killed somepony in self-defense, and "Bomber" (Pitch's pyromania) was 'born' when he accidentally set off some explosions. The three personas guided Pitch throughout his life, telling him how the world is out to get him, how there's so much to steal, and how ptetty explosions are.
