Bio: Howdy, well I understan' that y'all wanna know a little about me. This here farm is where I spend most of my time. Good ol' Sweet apple acres. Well. it's been run by the apple family ever since Ponyville was first created. Heh, she's a might fine old lady. You know the entire apple family helped raise this here barn.
Well let's see, I don't speak much about my parents 'cause they died when applebloom had just been born,y'know. So me and my brother, Big Mac, had to help raise my sister, well, together with ol' granny Smith. She's the sweetest filly you could know Applebloom. The best darn family a mare could ask for if y'ask me. But it was though on us for a little while. Ah, well an' uncle Apple Strudel, nanny Caramel Apple and auntie Applesauce used to fillysit Applebloom for us a whole allot when she was younger. They helped us run the farm too during Applebucking season you know.
Well, an' ah've the best darn friends a pony could ask for too. You've got Pinkie Pie, she's an apple through and through. Didn't know that when I first meet her though, been a friend of hers ever since she came to ponyville. Must've been five years by now. I was so excited like to learn that she's my cousin. Then there's Rainbow Dash, she can be lazy sometimes but she's always there for a friend in need. An' she sure helps me out allot on the farm too when I need it. She can be a darn bit stubborn though. Can't admit that I'm a better athlete than her because of all my hard work. If it wasn't for her darn tootin' wings... oh but where was I sugarcube? Oh, and there's Twilight Sparkle. Yupp, sure as apples I'm friends with the princess. I know it sounds crazy but she lives here in ponyville y'know. Well she's a bit of a bookworm and should probably be out more in the sunlight-like if y'ask me but her booksmarts sure do come in handy allot. Heh. Well and then there's Fluttershy, you wouldn't hardly believe what a sweet mare she is. Always helps me out with the animals on the farm and such. And well, then there's Rarity, she's great at making 'em fancy dressings that they like in Canterlot. She caaan be a bit of a fussbudget though. She really oughta try to be a bit more practical-like y'know. Well but she's a darn bit too generous when it comes to helping her friends out with clothes and such. Quite neighborly like that. You know what? There's no point in denying it; I just really love them ponies. So I'll throw out some characters. A family! They're all named after Spanish cuisine; "Cornicabra" is a kind of olive.

Name: Solomillo Cornicabra
Species: Earth pony
Sex: Male
Residence: Ponyville
Occupation: Gentle-stallion planter
Appearance: He's about the same size as Big Macintosh, but not nearly as strong or as thick, and without the little socks. His coat is dark green, and his mane is black - going grey, but he keeps it dyed. He usually wears a white suit, with a tie, and a Panama hat.
Cutie mark: A single, curved olive branch
Bio: Mr. Cornicabra is originally from Palominas, down in the south. He came from a large family, with many brothers and sisters, so when he was old enough, he struck out to find his own fortune. He bought some acres of land near Ponyville, and planted olive trees on them. (He had to borrow a lot of money to do that, but he's since paid it all off.) Despite being a foreigner, he and his family have become an accepted part of the Ponyville community. He no longer has to work with his own hooves, and most of the work gets done by young farm-hooves.
Personality: Mr. Cornicabra is an easy-going, friendly man; he is likeable and likes others. He loves the land, but also loves the finer things in life - both Applejack and Rarity would find him a good person to know. He is generally quite formal in manner and speech; he addresses Twilight, for instance, as 'Miss Sparkle,' and he generally expects to be addressed as 'Mr. Cornicabra.' He is pretty old, by pony standards - not as old as Granny Smith, certainly, but more than twice as old as the Mane 6.

Name: Valencia Cornicabra, nee Naranja
Species: Earth Pony
Sex: Female
Residence: Ponyville
Occupation: Umm... full-time wife?
Appearance: Valencia is a handsome mare on the onset of middle age. Her coat is sort of burnt sienna colored, like kind of yellowish-orange, and her mane is lavender. She dresses very elegantly, and is a good customer to Rarity.
Cutie mark: An orange, cut in half to show its regular segments.
Bio: Valencia is also from Palominas, and comes from one of its established wealthy families - in her case, orange planters. As a young filly, Valencia was very interested in music and dancing, particularly singing. When Solomillo paid off all his debts and came home to 'show himself off' several years ago, he chose that time to pursue a wife. Valencia was flattered by the older man's attention, and when he returned to Ponyville, they started to exchange letters. A year after they first met, the two were married.
Personality: Valencia is a very charming mare, and like her husband, she likes herself and likes others. She is much more outgoing and ebuillant than her husband, and frequently visits Canterlot to take in the social season there. She's something like a grown-up, more reserved Pinkie Pie - she wants everyone to be her friend.

Name: Puntilita Cornicabra
Species: Earth Pony
Sex: Female
Residence: Ponyville
Occupation: Child
Appearance: Puntilita has the same color coat as her mother, but inherited her father's black mane.
Cutie mark: None yet.
Bio: Not much has yet happened in her young life. She is slightly behind the Cutie Mark Crusaders in age, so she hasn't really started worrying about her Cutie Mark yet. She was born in Ponyville, and has lived there all her life. Unlike her parents, she does not speak with an accent.
Personality: Puntilita takes very strongly after her mother. She is extremely outgoing and excitable, and loves to meet new people. She is also very interested in music, and doesn't show much interest in the family business.

Residence: A small home built into a hill outside ponyville (Think Hobbit hole)

Appearance: Charcoal coat, Orange/Red rough mane
Cutie mark: A map with a drafting compass off diagonally, and a normal compass off to the opposite diagonal
Bio: Trailblazer was born in ponyville, and was very unlike his cattle farm-working parents. He wasn't content to stay on a ranch, he wanted to find new things. Even as a young colt, Trailblazer was always one to go out and see the world. He would constantly get lost either in ponyville or out near the everfree forest. The forest has interested him since his childhood, and against his parents wishes.

On one adventure, trailblazer had found a very neat place, a small hill, with a cave built into it. He went into the cave, and it seemed to stretch on forever. It began to occur to him that he had gotten lost. Instead of panicking, he got smart. He began using the back of his makeshift map of ponyville to map out the caves. He had plenty of food, but needed to keep moving. He mapped dead ends, and eventually had made it out. Though he hadn't mapped it all yet, he had proven himself, and got his cutie mark.

He kept around town, slowly expanding his sphere of searching, finding all manner of new animals, plants, and places to add to the maps. He still lives in the cave where he found his cutie mark, and has still not mapped it all out yet. He has built his home at the mouth of it, and still enjoys to take a load off and head to ponyville to socialize and have some fun.
Personality: Always a pony with a knack for adventure, trailblazer is fairly free spirited. Looking to see the world and learn about it as much as possible, he constantly is going into the unknown, most of the time without planning or contemplation. He's very curious to try new things, and always is wondering what can be found. He is nonetheless pretty street smart, and knows many survival and outdoorsman skills. He is normally very laid back when not venturing out, and always enjoys a good time meeting and getting to know other ponies around town.

And I DID win that one little competition in Manehattan. Haha. Oh, but what am I babbling on about? Let me see now, well I wouldn't go anywhere without Opal. That's my cat. I simply MUST introduce you to her darling, she's a sweetheart. I'm too busy to meet my parents as much as I'd like to these days I'm afraid, but I always make time for my sister Sweetie Bell.

The olive grove was not a place for the young, or with the temperament of the young. It did not reward quick action or impatience. From the first year's planting, it would take a decade or more before the trees would bear fruit, and all the while there was the constant work of splicing, grafting, and making sure the soil and water were perfect. The times were hard, once; years and years of waiting for the first budding.

And then, one autumn, they came. The harvest was spectacular; there were more olives than anyone was prepared to buy. The workers were sent home with buckets of them, and that winter it was olives three meals a day. An olive still - for there was such a thing, to make olive oil - got set up in the backyard, to terrible results. But with that first harvest, the lean times were finally over.

Today, Solomillo Cornicabra was a pony of wealth and esteem. His groves, which he had tediously and tenuously nurtured for a decade, now gave forth vast and bountiful harvests every single year. And they would continue to give forth, for uncountable generations. In Palominas, there was a tree that had given forth olives for the Princesses' table on the occassion of their coronation, and still bearing today. Word had it that there were older trees, in the old country of the Earth Ponies, still bearing as they had for thousands of years.

Struggle and sacrifice, hard work and lonely nights - but as Cornicabra wandered through his groves in the early hours of the morning, he felt as though it had all truly been worthwhile.
