Heh, I doubt that post is canon. He hasn't applied in the OOC, at any rate. Just a new fellow figuring out how NS works. I've TGed him.

But I suppose that with industrial advantage and massive numerical advantage there's no realistic fear of your formations being crushed in that war......

There's always the risk of a successful flanking maneuver or shock charge; my soldiers, for instance, likely still aren't very experienced at dealing with war elephants, and so if massed volleys don't scare away the beasts or slay them, a successful charge could break an inexperienced Yuan unit. Similarly, if a small Yuan advance force was enveloped or had it's flanks turned, a loss of unit cohesion would be a very real danger.

Of course, the mighty beasts of the subcontinent.
Speaking of which, what would actually be a western reaction to such beasts?

Europeans know of Elephants; they've known of them since the 2nd Rome-Carthage War (I think it was the 2nd one). They'd just be surprised that Indians and Siamese Soldiers know how to ride and use them :)

Choice of country: Bulgaria and Serbia. (The later is optional)
History of country (you can improvise here based on the timeline): The Bulgars first arrived in the area of Thrace, south of the Danube in 680. During the Orthodox switchover, and the assimilation to the Slavs, the Bulgars fought minor skirmishes with the Huns to the north, and had a war in the beginning of the second millennium with the Dacians in the north. However, despite some differences, Bulgaria has always maintained a friendly relationship with their southern neighbours, insuring stability in the region. Despite Bulgaria's loses to the Serbs in the west, Bulgaria is a strong and militaristic nation, with a nationalistic mind-set. It was during the Serbo-Bulgar wars between 1000-1100 where we both made many loses and gains, however, during the closing years of the conflict, we lost parts of Macedonia. Nether the less, 1300s proved to be a golden age for Bulgaria, with the fall of the Serb to west, we grew two-fols.

We find our selfs, along with our allies in the south to be the true defenders of Orthdoxy, from those such as the Islamic barbarians to the east. Bulgaria shall reign with glory...
Goals for RP (Optional): Recreate the Bulgarian Empire, ally with our Southern Byzantium neighbours, as well as Russia and possibly Poland.

Nope, Portugal's history is kinda the same, apart from colonisation. That's kinda it.
Also, in this universe it was you who discovered America.

Yeah, so I was thinking that I might colonize the Maldives instead of somewhere in the Caribbean, because:

1. Easier to maintain contact with (Don't have to go through the Mediterranean)
2. Not contested (Nobody has a colony there)
3. Useful as an spot for naval bases and trade ports (It's in the center of the Indian Ocean) (Makes trade with Asia less difficult)

Do you think 100 soldiers and 200 colonists is enough to start colonizing the Maldives?
