6.25 The War of Change [OOC]

[Greater Corea]

The Korean war. Referred to commonly as "The Forgotten War" or "The Unknown War" in the South due to the lack of coverage in the west. It was a war that left the Korean Peninsula devastated and ravaged, all the families are still unable to visit their relatives who were taken from them at the end of the War, and both sides have maintained the frosty relationship seen at the start of formal division. It was a war the likes of which had never been fought on Korean soil before: a war involving tanks and heavy bombardment, one that had never been seen to the still relatively isolationist nation.
Below is the spoiler on the events before the Korean War, this is a Character RP but a few nations will be given control of nations (DPRK, PRC, USA), ask and then refer me to your best RP work. You may only ever have 2 characters at any one time and you must not have more than 2 otherwise your character may be subject to accidental friendly fire. Apps are below the spoiler, everything up to this point (25th of June 1950) has been the same and apart from the initial victories of the North, anything could change. Perhaps we'll end up with a Communist Korea, or a Capitalist Korea or maybe there won't be a unification and it will end with an armistice or cease-fire like in real life. Up to the 25th June 1950:

(Even further back; The Korean Empire was annexed by Imperial Japan in 1910, starting the 35 years of occupation until liberation in 1945 by the Soviets to the North and the USA to the South) Near the end of the Second World War The United States of America agreed with the Soviet Union that Korea would be split along the line known formally as the '38th Parallel' literally the 38th degree longitudinally on the globe. The Soviets would occupy the north and the Americans would take occupation in the South after defeating Japan. The Americans however soon began to doubt the Soviets would uphold their part of the bargain and hurried plans to get US soldiers in the land. The UN during the Potsdam Conference had decided that Korea was to be divided- Without consulting the Koreans themselves. In December 1945 Korea was administered by the American-Soviet Union Joint Commission, as agreed at the Moscow Conference of 1945. The Commission decided that Korea would become independent after a five-year trusteeship action facilitated by each regime sharing its sponsor's ideology (ie, South with America and North with the USSR). The Korean populace revolted; in the South, some protested, and some rose in arms; to contain them, strikes were banned on the 8th of December 1945.
On the 23rd of September 1946, an 8,000 strong rail worker strike began in Busan. Civil disorder spread throughout the country in what would later be known as the Autumn uprising. On the 1st of October 1946, Korean police killed three students in the Daegu Uprising; protesters counter-attacked, killing 38 policemen. On the 3rd of October, around 10,000 people attacked the YeongCheon Police Station, killing 3 policemen and injuring 40 more.
A Right wing Representative Democratic Council, led by the nationalist Syngman Rhee (and later President of ROK), opposed the Soviet–American trusteeship of Korea, arguing that after 35 years (1910–45) of Japanese colonial rule most Koreans would oppose yet another foreign occupation. The five year trusteeship was scrapped, and then the US Provisional Government (the USAMGIK or United States Army Military Government In Korea) was given deadline for the 31st of March 1948 by the United Nations to achieve an anti-communist civil government in the U.S. Korean Zone of Occupation.
On the 10th of May, South Korea had its first national general elections, which the Soviets first opposed, and then boycotted, strongly insisting that the Americans honour the trusteeship agreed to at the Moscow Conference.
North Korea later held parliamentary elections on the 25th of August 1948, about three months from the South's.
The resulting strongly anti-communist South Korean government declared a national constitution on the 17th of July 1948, and then elected a president, the American-educated Syngman Rhee, on the 20th of July 1948.
The Republic of Korea (Known to us as South Korea) was established on the 15th of August 1948. In the Russian Occupied Zone of Korea, the Soviet Union established a strongly Communist North Korean government led by Kim Il-sung. Both sides claimed the entire country and their troops fought near the border several times from 1948 to 1950. President Rhee's regime expelled communists and other forms from the Political structure. The communists of South Korea, then headed for the hills to prepare for guerrilla war against the US-sponsored South Korean Government.

As strong nationalists, both Syngman Rhee and Kim Il-Sung were determined to reunify Korea under their own (Capitalist and Communist respectively) political system. The North Koreans gained support from both the Soviet Union and the People's Republic of China. They escalated the continual border skirmishes and raids and then prepared to invade. South Korea, with limited military equipment, could not match them. During this time, the U.S. government assumed that all communists (regardless of nationality) were controlled or directly influenced by Moscow; thus the Americans portrayed the civil war in Korea as a Soviet manoeuvre to spread Communism [Read on the Domino theory].
The Soviet Union withdrew as agreed from Korea in 1948. U.S. troops withdrew from Korea in 1949, leaving the South Korean army relatively ill-equipped. On the 24th of December 1949, South Korean forces killed approximately 80-90 people in the Mungyeong massacre and blamed the massacre on communist raiders. By early 1950, Syngman Rhee had around 30,000 alleged communists in jails and about 300,000 suspected sympathisers.
The United States removed its last troops from Korea in 1949 and in early 1950 North Korea decided upon war to achieve its goal of Korean unification under Communist rule.
The 25th of June 1950: The invasion of the Republic of Korea (South) by the North Korean People's Army (Supported by The People's Republic of China) effectively starting the Korean War.
The Korean War was the first war in which the U.N. played a role. When asked to send military aid to South Korea 16 countries sent troops and 41 sent equipment or aid. China fought on the side of North Korea and the Soviet Union sent them military equipment.

Extra Info (background): Kim openly shows hatred towards the North after his parents and family were murdered in defending his village close to the 38th parallel. He joined the army at 16 and has trained to kill. He was promoted to captain after capturing a DPRK Officer and warding off enemy troops despite being outnumbered severely. He is one of the youngest officers in the Capital Infantry Division and leads a squad of 17 men who are nicknamed the "Crocodiles", this is due to the fact that: "From the 20-30 eggs a crocodile lays almost every one is eaten by predators but the ones that survive grow up to dominate their swamp and we are the same! We will dominate our 'Swamp' and we will hold our land!". His men are just as brutal and are prepared to go down with him, they aided the defence of his village.

Her brother and Family lives in Pyongyang after her father acquired a job manufacturing weapons, but she left to attempt a place at Seoul University. Currently one of the few hundred females serving in the front lines. Her brother reportedly joined the Red Flag Division and and has gone missing since.

The six operatives peered over the beaten Bratislav agent. The agent was panting due to the tortures Fox put in, cuts and bruises all over him.

"Please, stop, I'll tell everything!' The agent pleads. Looking into the agent's data, the man Asman Nezboki was the one who put the order to massacre Loyalist soldiers and Masalian civilians. Nezboki said, "The Nationalist Army became weak, the people are dissatisfied with the government. There are reports of conscript going AWOL." The man continued as Spectre turned on his recorder and recorded every detail.

"Hmm, enough evidence crucial to the war. Team, send the SIA Director our findings through this recorder. I'll handle Nezboki," Spectre ordered as the team left the room. Spectre walked over to the drawer, pick up a C1911 pistol, aimed at the man's head, and said, "Let your suffering end," and pulled the trigger.

As Spectre walked out of the house, the team was waiting for him by the truck. Ghost asked, "Who do you think will get the message?"

"Hopefully Father Sam will get it," Spectre responded while opening the chest containing weapons. "Suit up, the Naties may go after us." Spectre ordered as the team loaded their guns and ordered Ghost to drive.
