Dr. Knicely left EVE-2 alone and walked off to find Lilith. He had an odd feeling that she would want to be there to see the activation, and he had a pretty good idea where to find her. The SS soldier experiment greatly interested the girl. Perhaps she felt that the two projects were similar. Lilith had once been human or at least some of her had been, but now she was a weapon. This boy in the experiment was to become a weapon too. He knew she felt sorry for this boy, and she felt sorry for everyone involved in these experiments. In her mind none were fit for war, they were all just children, and war was barbaric. Dr. Knicely himself almost believed her.

After several shots Robert was feeling a bit different, "What was in all those shots?"
"Vitamins, Minerals, Antioxidants, White Blood Cells, Platelets; Your body should be breaking all that down now." Robert titled his head at the Doctor before he got a sharp pain everywhere. "Now on to Stage Two." The Doctor fastened Robert to a metal chair like table and administered one last shot.
"That was it?" Robert breathed.
"No, that was the penicillin." The doctor stepped back and metal closed around Robert as the walls pushed row upon row of syringes into him. "Just tell us when the pain is too much."
"Power at ten percent." Robert felt an intense heat all over his body as radiation collided with him and the serum in his body.
"Power at twenty five percent." Robert found it hard to concentrate on anything but the pain.
"Power at fifty percent." Robert began to shout as the pain increased.
"Shut it down! He is going to die!"
"No, I can take it!" Robert shouted through gritted teeth, "Keep going!"
"Power at Seventy Five Percent." It felt like the entire force of the sun was hitting Robert.
"Power at Maximum of One Hundred percent." The white light continued to come from the metal chamber until it flew apart. Robert was laying with a interesting smile. Lilith ran up and looked at him, she was one of them who had been watching the experiment.
"How do you feel?" She asked helping him off the table.
"A little taller, hey I saw you earlier." He noticed she was a machine due to the weird black objects covering her ears. Robert felt something weird about this girl, it seemed that every time their eyes met he was more content and happy then the last. "May I ask your name?"
"Lilith, I read your file, your the Super Soldier." She felt the same way, but neither would ever admit this to the other.
"Can't really call me a Soldier-" Robert was dragged off by the same General as before so he could train.
"Well now they can, start running, I want you to run a mile and a half before I get done eating my lunch." The general had only a cup of coffee.
"But you only have a cup of coffee..."
"Exactly, get going."
"Yes Sir." Robert ran down the track like a bullet, the Serum and Treatment had changed the boy a lot.

Lilith was a friend, and he knew she honestly cared for the boy, but did he care for the boy as well? He had never met him, but what they were doing to him... Thank Jel he wasn't involved in anything as inhumane as this project.

"Sorry, I was told to grab my gear from- oh, hi there, Missy." Robert blushed scrambling to help Lilith up.
"My apologies I thought you were someone else." Lilith held both of her hands down in front of her and twisted slightly to each side nervously. "So how is training?"
"Uh pretty good, how is... your AI?" Robert floundered for a question.
"That is a weird question, that would be like me asking how your frontal lobe is."
"Well what was I supposed to ask?"
"You could ask me on a date- I mean you know, a date of which we go and compare data." Lilith recovered from her confession.
"Oh, yeah, a date. Do you still eat...?" Robert raised an eyebrow slightly confused.
"I am still human you know, I am not completely machine." The two began to argue back and forth.

Doctor Light leaned over to his friend, Doctor Light had just walked up and saw the situation, "Is it possible for them to be in love? I mean neither is really human anymore and yet they are acting just like me and my wife used to."

She is a strange case to say the least," David answered smiling. He was wondering if the same could be asked about his project. Was Maria living or not? It was hard to say. She had a personality, but was it inherent in her design? Activating EVE-2 would answer this. If she behaved the same way as Maria then they were just a clever program, but if she didn't perhaps they were something more...

That reminds me...

"I'd love to stay, but I've got another gynoid to activate. I've been given permission from the Ministry to act as the guardian for this one. I've always wanted a child, and it should be interesting to compare her to Maria. The schedule says that next week both will be implemented into a classroom. Then we will really test the social parameters of the experiment. I'm still not sure if the AI of my works is life yet, but maybe seeing how similar or different the second of the series is I can learn."

"You know what, I didn't want you to ask me out, why would I?!" Lilith shouted at him.
"You wanted me to ask you out on a romantic date?" He was confused now.
"You are hopeless!" Lilith walked off with her arms crossed.

"Her mood appears very average for girls her age, what if we uploaded her personality into EVE-2?" Doctor Light asked.

Maria was never really attached to him to begin with, but he was sad to see her go with officers of the Order. He felt that her morality was too close to that of the government's officers. He thought them all slightly immoral and wished he could have raised her better. A moment later he criticising herself. Did she really learn as such? She was a robot. Did she really have a mouldable personality? EVE-2 might answer this.

Lilith stood against the metal frame and closed her eyes as she powered down. She was smiling in her rest.
"Alright, update the Artemis, Apollo, Athena, Vulcan, Ares, and Zeus software with the new Homer interface. Apply the Socrates Environmental software and check her hardware. I think some of that debris from earlier hit her right side and glanced off her shielding.." Doctor Light scanned the monitors around him, "Someone set monitor two to record."
"May I ask why sir?'
"We have just found a machine that can love." Doctor Light took a picture of the screen, all of Lilith's human thoughts were about Robert and her heart rate was escalated.

" Doctor Light quieted down as Lilith approached, "Well elt's go get you checked out, thankfully once your system is completely finished you won't have to be shut down every day for updates."

"Okay then. I'll see both of you later. I've got work to do," Doctor Knicely said as he walked off. In a few minutes he would be ready to activate EVE-2. She was one the table as he left her. She was complete, and for a moment it dawned on him how to an observer it looked like a little girl was sleeping. He walked over ran his hands threw her hair. It felt soft but very natural. He had done a very good job with the project. Both of the gynoids currently constructed looked like human children in every detail. They even had mock organs to simulate human body functions. Though none were important to the gynoids's to work properly they helped keep up the deception that they were human.

"Here goes nothing," David said as he connected a cord to her head. Her eyes flickered open, the cord came out, and her "skin" covered where the cord had been connected so that before him was a living, breathing, robot girl.

Lilith woke up and yawned, "I take it my systems are updated now?'
"Yes, go ahead and bring them out and check if they are online yet."
"Alrightie." Lilith raised up her arms,
"Athena activate." A shield of energy came up in front of her.
"Ares activate." Two machines guns came up from her wrists and their ammo loaded in.
"Vulcan activate." Two flame throwers came down from the bottoms of her wrists.
"Apollo activate." A artillery like gun came up from her right shoulder
"Hermes activate." Two wings made of metallic feathers sprouted from her back.
'Artemis activate." A set of missiles appeared out of the sides of her upper arms.
"Zeus activate." On her left shoulder a large metal rod extended forward, it was clamped onto by two electrodes.
"All systems loaded, combat ready." She said launching her HUD.

"Daddy?" the gynoid girl asked, sitting up, and blinking twice as she stared at the doctor. He looked flustered. Maria had never referred to him as her father, and she had not sought one.

"I guess, technically...- Yes, I am your dad-" he said before being interrupted by a sudden embrace. It was quite awkward and she was very strong. This lasted a moment before she let go.

"Daddy, who am I, and where is Mommy?' she asked after letting go and look at him with a puzzled expression of her face.

"...Mommy is gone... Do not dwell on her. You are EVE, uhh, Eva, my daughter. This is my work. I'll show you around work, a couple people will want to see you, but then we will go home. Okay, Eva?"

"Yes, Daddy. You stutter A lot. It's funny," she giggled as she jumped off the table with a loud thud.

"I do not. You just caught me off guard, that is all.,' Dr. Knicely defended but smiled. He took her hand and walked forward a couple of steps with her. She stumbled a bit on her first few steps, but then caught her balance.

I have the answer, yes, I have created life. It is a breakthrough! The Evangelines are much more than AI. I am lucky to have guardianship of one of them! I've always wanted children..

"Daddy, you're crying, are you hurt?"

"No. I'm okay? I just have something in my eye. It's a bit dusty in here. Come along, soon we will meet your sisters."

Robert was dog tired, he walked through the corridor like one of the undead. "Sleep, so tired, must find bed..." He turned the corner and saw Eva and Doctor Knicely. "Oh, she is so cute, I did not know you had children, Doctor." Robert was less tired now, he crouched down to Eva's height, "Hi there, may I ask your name?" Robert smiled.
Lilith walked up and scooped Eva into her arms, "She is so adorable!" The cybernetic girl manhandled the little robot. "My bestest little sister, oh how I love you!" Lilith looked at Robert who seemed confused, "What, I love my little sister."
"I can see that, but I think you might be choking her with your death hug there..."
"Oh really, and what do you know about kids?"
"I have read a few parenting books, baby sat, and taken care of myself since the passing of my parents." Robert said still with a smile as he tickled Eva.
"Oh, m-my apologies..." Lilith began to retract into her emotional shell, she felt sorry for the boy again.
"Why? They are all in a better place now, no sense in apologizing for what has already passed long ago." He faltered for a moment before hugging Lilith, "Have a good evening, I, I am going to get some sleep before more training starts." Robert patted little Eva on the head and ran down the hall backwards while waving at the three of them.
"He embraced me..." steam rolled out from Lilith's metal ear sensors, "This is not computing correctly, error in data stream five, shutting down all data running through system." She green eyes lit up brightly before she closed them tight, opening them again they were blue. "That crashed my system..." Lilith looked perplexed as she began recalibrating, "Is my hardware faulted?" She looked at the Doctor.

"He embraced me..." steam rolled out from Lilith's metal ear sensors, "This is not computing correctly, error in data stream five, shutting down all data running through system." She green eyes lit up brightly before she closed them tight, opening them again they were blue. "That crashed my system..." Lilith looked perplexed as she began recalibrating, "Is my hardware faulted?" She looked at the Doctor.

"No, I think its only natural. I'd it call a repercussion of humanity across your system. I don't know if your hardware was made for the intensiveness of human emotion, but we all suffer like that when enamoured by love," David said to the girl before turning to Eva. She looked somewhat confused by what had just happened. "Eva, this is your sister Lilith. That was a boy named Robert. Don't be shy, they are good people."

"Hi," Eva managed to stay. She looked at the doctor questioningly. Then she walked over to Lilith. "You were nice. I love you, too, Sister. The boy was nice too, but he seemed bossy."

The docter smiled upon hearing her speak. She was so trusting and innocent, and she was still unaware that she was anything other than his daughter. It was different. He couldn't explain how, but it made him feel good.

"The best part of her is, Lilith, I am her guardian. She actually gets to live with me as a daughter would—"

"Daddy, I am your daughter," she said rather surprised and confused.

"Yes, you are my daughter, and I couldn't ask for any better. Come here," he said before walking over to her, crouching down, and hugging her.

"Lilith...? If she is my daughter... and you are her sister...?"

Robert was dog tired, he walked through the corridor like one of the undead. "Sleep, so tired, must find bed..." He turned the corner and saw Eva and Doctor Knicely. "Oh, she is so cute, I did not know you had children, Doctor." Robert was less tired now, he crouched down to Eva's height, "Hi there, may I ask your name?" Robert smiled.
Lilith walked up and scooped Eva into her arms, "She is so adorable!" The cybernetic girl manhandled the little robot. "My bestest little sister, oh how I love you!" Lilith looked at Robert who seemed confused, "What, I love my little sister."
"I can see that, but I think you might be choking her with your death hug there..."
"Oh really, and what do you know about kids?"
"I have read a few parenting books, baby sat, and taken care of myself since the passing of my parents." Robert said still with a smile as he tickled Eva.
"Oh, m-my apologies..." Lilith began to retract into her emotional shell, she felt sorry for the boy again.

Lilith raised an eyebrow, "I did that just a bit too well didn't I?" Her eyes began to run binary coding visible in her irises, "About time, now I can finally reboot my- Son of a-!" She saw Eva, "Money's Stupid fu- reaking Uncle!" She breathed for a minute, her whole HUD was full of pictures of a particular boy. "I think I have a virus, either that or my bio chip is fried." She made a note using her Memo Card system, "Get Bio Chip looked at, human interface has overridden its commands." She rubbed the small sides of her forehead, "My entire Heads Up Display is full of pictures, worst part is I think I actually like the pictures..."

"Alright, I get the point, I just think its a bit odd. You really ought to get that looked at. Umm, I am just showing Eva around my work. I'll be around if you are looking for me, and good luck with your bio chip," Doctor Knicely laughed as he stood up. "Eva, say goodbye to your sister. She has to go for a checkup, and we have places to be and things to see. And that rhymes... Err... Anyway, bye, Lilith. Send my regards to Doctor Light."

"Bye-bye, sis," Eva said with a wave before grabbing her father's legs and tugging on his pants. "Come on, Daddy. You said we had places to see. Why are we waiting, so long?"

"Okay. Okay. Just calm down. We aren't in a real hurry. I already finished all my work for the day. I'm just showing you around."

"But, Daddy, I want to go home. Work is boring."

That reminds me... I probably should take her somewhere to pick out some toys, or else home will be boring too. I think I know where I can get her some nice toys cheap. Look at this! You're already spoiling her, you old fool!

Lilith was walking down the hall when she saw Robert in fatigues marching very up beat. She walked up to him.
"Hi ther-" She slapped him hard enough with the back of her hand to knock him down.
"That is for getting in my head." She continued to walk back to the lab.
"The Hell did I do- Oww! Feels like a brick hit the side of my face!" He popped his jaw back into place. "And I thought the training was the most painful part of my day." He nursed the already bruised, red hand mark on his face. "Just how did I get in her head apparently...?"

Eva had proved herself more shy and more innocent than Maria, and she remained unaware of her creation. Today was just like a normal day for her. She had been dropped off at school and Daddy had gone to work. Today was an important day for Dr. Knicely as the final gynoid was ready for activation, but as he arrived in work something was wrong. On the table was message.

Dr. Knicely, the Order has plans to arrest you before the day is over on account of "mismanagement of government funds". I felt that it was my duty to inform you that they have terminated the Eve Project and will shut down and erase the memories of the gynoids after extracting sufficient evidence. They will hold a meeting to decide what shall be done with them.

They will hold a meeting to decide what to do with them after deactivation and wiping their memories. Dr. Light, I need you to advocate placing them in storage. Tell them that they may be useful in the future... I don't know-you'll think of something, but please allow them to maybe get a second chance. Lilith, I need you to watch over them in the future. If they are ever reactivated, make sure they end up in proper homes. This may be the last time I speak to you, so good luck and be safe."

Lilith watched as Knicely walked away, this was not going to be good whatsoever.

"Stop! Don't you touch them!" Lilith had every single one of her weapons out and ready to fire, "You are not going to destroy the EVEs!" The girl was like a mighty grizzly bear. Robert stepped forward, he had his hands up so no one would shoot him.
"I have to agree with the the Young Lady, why should you destroy such hard work when we can store them and possibly find a use for them later from now?"
"Great so the Monster has a soft spot for robots?" The comment rolled off Robert like water on a duck.
"How about this, you intend to destroy them then you have to go through me and you are going to need about two thousand more bullets." Robert pointed at the nearest guard, "I will run up and punch you, take your gun and shoot numbnuts McGee beside you, probably take your pistol and pop a few rounds in that guy back there causing this one to falter and think before running off, leaving just me and you four." Robert smiled at the white coated men before him, not the joyful smile or even sly grin he usually had, this one was more of a sinister smile.
"Alright, after further thought we will put the EVEs in storage, along with Lilith."
"Good- hey wait what?" Lilith looked at the group of men.
"Hey! That wasn't the deal!" Robert stepped in front of Lilith.
"Oh we made a deal?" The scientist in front with short grey hair sneered at Robert.
"Yeah, we did." The boy ran, jumped along the wall and kicked the first guard straight to the chest, punching downward he pierced the man's chest cavity as his wrist popped from the pressure. Robert grabbed the man's rifle and used the body for cover as he picked off the second guy, sighting in the rifle he took out the man down the hall, the last guy hesitated and ran off.
"Only me and you ass clowns now." Robert had the rifle sighted in and aimed straight for the first man. Lilith was terrified by what the boy soldier had become for those brief moments.
"You need more training, always look behind you." The scientist beside the grey haired one laughed as Robert turned to see a large fist flying at him, he ducked and rolled out of the way as one of the scientists were punched straight to the nose.
"Come on Lilith, we have to go!" Robert grabbed her hand, but she stood still.
"No, we can't; they will just find us in the end. I will go in storage, what life would I have anyway? But here is my goodbye." Lilith kissed Robert and sparks flew from her few external pieces of equipment as they fried processing human emotions. She crashed and blacked out.
"Lilith..." Robert finally understood her game of cat and mouse and why he liked it all, Love.
"No Lilith, come back to me, Lilith!" He tried to perform CPR but with no progress.
"She is dead, Boy." Light patted him on the shoulder, "Come your time here is ended too." Light led Robert into a infirmary like room. "Sit down please." Robert sat down. "I want you to look into this little dot, it is an eye exam before we send you to the front lines." Robert looked and the black square blanked a blue light. He forgot everything but his training... and his love for Lilith.

The EVE Project was canceled and put into storage along with the Lilith Model, Lilith was given an update one last time to see if she could be revived, but it failed, she was declared dead by unknown causes, it could be said that it was caused by broken heart at never being able to see the one she loved again. Robert later went to the front lines where he ended up watching a little boy get gunned down, it drove him near insane and caused him to join the SLF later on in his career. He ahd actually found EVE-2 during his time on base, but did not remember anything about her. Lilith remained frozen in time with the rest of the EVEs, Robert was later declared MIA/KIA after vanishing one night before a battle. Many legends float around about what happened though.

Lee's Mansion, sometime in 2017, night
Robert walked out into the darkness, he held his hands up in surrender.
"I come in surrender, I would have brought a white flag, but you probably would have killed me for thinking I was about the murder you with it." He wore his hero suit and had the shield on his back.
"You were brave to come, or stupid, you use to be such a great soldier... Where did we go wrong?" Robert's former Commander asked.
"The day I realized just how fucked up this all is." He laughed, first time he swore and he hoped it would be his only.
"Mighty words for a boy, now get on your knees." Robert was ordered.
"No, I am not your mother last night." A gun was pointed to his forehead. "Well that is about as kosher as a hotdog..." Robert kneeled down, "Happy?"
"Very, now execute him." The Commander began to walk off, turnin his back on the boy.
"The men and women inside that mansion, Hell even the kids, they are all twice the men you lot are. I hope you burn in the deepest, darkest pit in-" Robert was kicked to the ribs causing him to fall over, he coughed and watched as they all pulled out clubs and knives.
"Kill him, slowly, I want him to pay for everyone of our brothers he killed." The Commander watched this time as they beat Robert, finally they started to transition to cutting him. In the end the soldier layed before him with his wrists and throat slit open, Robert's eyes wandered up to the Heavens at what he truly believed was his last view of the stars, they were more beautiful than he had seen in years.
