Hrm, interestingly, while it is true that a good bit of the army's assets are tied up in Sulawesi, the navy is not, nor is the other chunk of the army. The ships running supplies and troop runs for the army are all contracted merchants with few naval assets there. This is, of course, assuming that the backlogged negotiations between the Spanish, Japanese, and Ryuukyuuans pans out well for the Ryuukyuuans.

With as huge a population as Taiwan has relative to the population of the rest of the Ryuukyuus, the garrisons at Taiwan are the largest in all the Ryuukyuu holdings. Considering the recent Mosuan threats, those garrisons will have then been built up for the longterm, since Taiwan is incredibly likely to see war in the foreseeable future. Then, the navy will have set up shop in force, since the only way for China to get to Taiwan is over the water. Taiwan also has the ports necessary to house the fleets, unlike the Ryuukyuus proper.

As for the issue of the Taiwanese potentially rebelling, I doubt that'd be the case. They've had some 30 years to settle down under quite decent conditions. Both the Ryuukyuuans and Taiwanese have Chinese-based culture. The Ryuukyuuans have integrated the remaining Taiwanese governance into its own to speed up integration. It's not like the Ryuukyuuans, who have been quite secular, are trying to impose any undue cultural or religious conditions upon the Taiwanese. Furthermore, 30 years down the line, the next generation of Taiwanese have been put through Ryuukyuuan schools and known Ryuukyuuan influence all their lives, then have joined in and shared in the Ryuukyuu trade prosperity. They're quite the bastion of Ryuukyuu nationalism, at this point.

I could potentially have RPed bad governance taking a toll on the confidence of the Taiwanese, but that'd be against the Kingdom's historical precedence for competent, socialist governance.

However, the problem is that China is already invading Taiwan, and is planning to bombard the homeland islands. So moving the Capital to Taipei might be a VERY bad idea because first off, China is also planning a naval blocade around Taiwan, since its closer, and its very easy to get more troops to and from Taiwan.

And also, you got 850,000 Taiwanese refugees in Qingxi who abseloutly hate Ryuukyuu. And I can work with bad governence. And also, Taiwan has influence of Japan because Japanese immigrants came to Taiwan too. They pratically made the Taiwanese language as well, by mixing the two langauges together along with picking up some native words.

850,000 people is alot, and I think it would be possible that Taiwanese who want their land back to help spring up rebellions. After all, Ryuukyuu is facing againt an opponent who can outresource and out army andout economize them. So, I would say Mosuo has an advantage so far.

and here is the map I put together of what the invasion will be like IF it goes according to plan (Note, this is a plan) (ignore Japan, I am talknig to him right now in Tg to get his stance):

http://i.imgur.com/UYJoRWC.png

PLAN:
Red = Bombardment
Maroon = City Battle
Yellow = Chinese Army Advancement
Cream Yellow = Chinese Navy
Light Green = Japanese Navy (if the Japanese decide to help)

Feel free to draw your defense plan. I would like to see.

Wait, how are you already invading? Are you somehow predetermining that I don't get a chance to use the Ryuukyuuan navy to stave off the Chinese navy?

OK, rereading your post, all China is doing is mobilizing, at the moment. I'll have to write up something about that.

As for the culture thing. I'm very curious how you're arriving at your conclusion that Taiwan is heavily influenced by Japan, of all things. Did you work this out with Altito? Historically, the Japanese didn't really make it out of the Ryuukyuus in terms of culturalization, other than a precious few enclaves down in Oceania and SE Asia that died out because of the isolation. However, in this timeline, as has been pointed out a number of times, the Japanese went north, rather than south as they did historically. Unless Altito said something, which you haven't been able to reference, yet, I doubt the Japanese will have much influenced beyond the Ryuukyuus, since the Ryuukyuus are Japan's direct neighbor.

Assuming you're right about the cultural influence from Japan, you're saying that the Ryuukyuuans, who have blended Chinese and Japanese culture, are going to have a problem with the Taiwanese, who have also blended Chinese and Japanese culture? I'm inclined to think otherwise.

Though this isn't central to anything, I'm curious as to how you decided that 850,000 Taiwanese managed to run to Qingxi. Where did they get the boats? One of the largest emigrations in pre-industrial history is the Irish emigration to America. There were two million in 10 years. You have 850,000 in....two years? Granted, in their benevolence, the Ryuukyuuans aren't keen on sinking refugee boats, but, I feel like 850,000 is quite a high number relative to what Taiwan is capable of.

Alright. And as I said, the map is toshow how China was gonna do it.

If you like, you can draw up how you are going to defend.

Me and Altito already worked this out in the old OP and the old IC. Trade with Japan had been going on since the time Mosuo and Japan were massive allies. And Japanese people also moved to Taiwan as said in those posts in the past. Integration also happened, and Japanese culture adopts as well. So it was all through trade.

Assuming you're right about the cultural influence from Japan, you're saying that the Ryuukyuuans, who have blended Chinese and Japanese culture, are going to have a problem with the Taiwanese, who have also blended Chinese and Japanese culture? I'm inclined to think otherwise.

I assume that there is going to be tension because remember how long Taiwan has been ruled under China, and China let go of Taiwan peacefully, which is why they have a mutal respect for China.

Though this isn't central to anything, I'm curious as to how you decided that 850,000 Taiwanese managed to run to Qingxi. Where did they get the boats? Shit... you got me there. Uhh...
.... crap... how am I gonna solve this one?

Well I guess its sorta too late for changing now... i mean it already happened, and it would kinda ruin stuff if I fixed this.

I guess you can just say that since China is so close to Taiwan, that they did manage to make it to and from easily.

Links please. I don't know where to look in the old IC and OOC. You're also apparently a new entry, considering I saw your app on the new OOC. Which brings me back to the need for evidence, in the absence of Altito saying anything on the matter.

As for the tensions, yes, the garrisons were there for that. There will have been tension, but, as I pointed out, 30 years have gone by. There's anything but tension now.

Yeah and the "new entry" is actually representing the Exiled Taiwanese, not the Ryuukyuuian Taiwanese.

Hrm, I don't see anything affirming that Altito allowed you to RP the Japanese. The only mentions he has are with Mosuo direct and nothing to say about Taiwan. Where did he say that you are allowed to RP the Japanese, since he says nothing of moving things to Taiwan and seems to actually have completely ignored Taiwan?

It was mostly in Telegram, because we usually talk in there. Like me and Spain. We agreed that Taiwan has Japanese influence because of trade, so that is why I posted there making it look like I didnt do it without permission. Mosuo and Japan have long trading agreements, and Taiwan is sort of a post for Japan to trade with the Phillippines to the south. But I'm sure that Altito said it was okay. This was a few months back so I don't remember.
