Yes a lot of them speak Uyghur with Mandarin, Kazakh, Mongolian and probably more than a few others also being spoken. Why?

In a fairly circumspect manner. But yes. Twenty five thousand troops under the ultimate control of the Russian Empire is fighting in East Turkestan. Whether the Chinese (or anyone else for that matter) is able to identify the boost to Yaqub Beg's rebellion as being Russian is of course another matter.

I am so happy you asked me that, Brissia.

Pius IX was known, in his beginning years as a liberal. In the Papal States at the time, there were the liberals, Papalists, and the Austrian Sympathizers. The Liberals supported a republican approach, though still wanted to retain the temporal sovereignty of the Pope. The Papalists supported a more absolute Papal Authority over the States, while the Austrian Sympathizers supported Austrian claims to the north.

Later in his Pontificate, Pius IX became far more conservative, this was in part to the Pope's own distrust of the republican activists who, in 1849, deposed the Pope in favor of a Republic. This was short lived, however, due to French siege of Rome, the Pope would return. The Pope did not trust the Austrians thoroughly due to their want to veto his election. And they would have, had the Austrian Cardinal arrived two days earlier.

The Pope had a long time rivalry with Prussia, especially after they butt heads with France in the Franco-Prusso War. Remember, Rome would never had fallen if France kept their barracks in Rome. France had 10,000 strong in support of the Pope, along with 10-15,000 Papal soldiers. When Prussia had declared war on France, France removed their barracks leaving the Pope without a leg to stand on. Rome was taken on the XX of September.

Pius Ix also had reason to resent PRussia because of the Kulturkampf which persecuted Catholics. The Pope wrote the Syllabus of Errors to protest Bismarck's plans to subjugate the Church under the State.

Catholicism vs. Protestantism in Germany is a little more complex than simply North vs. South. Plenty of catholics still reside in Prussia lead Germany.

No Crusade will be called and Russia will not be excommunicated as they are already in schism with the Roman Church.
