Not to be rude, but why are you so negative all the time? Also, there is still a bond between them since they have a common thing, the Arctic. And it could indeed be an interesting alternative to the EU. Interesting does not mean good or bad. It only means that it will not be nothing. Also, I am not sure how good the European Union has been for the Nordic states. It has been more valuable for the southern Europeans if anything.

I would lower either political or civil freedoms. According to the freedom house, it is only partly free, due to many of the news sources being government controlled and the corruption in the country.

1) There's no "Artic" culture. The Scandanvian countries share a common hertiage, yes, but the Danish, Norwegian and Swedish all share different and seperate national identities.
2) The EU has been excellent for Scandanavia. Look at their export partners - they're for the most part fellow EU members.

That isn't rude, it's a fair remark. I'm negative because I'm tired of silliness, and you're painting your project in an awfully silly way.

The European Union is the largest single market in the world. You can't really make an alternative.

The European Union has boosted the economic bargaining power of everyone in it significantly, as well as supporting education, joint economic ventures, scientific research, and even military development. Yes, there are allegations of it being a 'better deal' for the southern states, and yes, these have some truth to them, but the EU, when not forced into an awkward position because national politicians decide to make it into a political punching-bag, benefits all it's members.

There was no talk of making an equal European Union, just an interesting preposition. Not that it would somehow take over and stuff.

Also I beg to differ, I have a hard time seeing the Nordic countries benefiting any greatly from a cooperation in the European Union, but I do not wish to dive into some political debate on this though.

Isn't it also more of a problem about something like, Ukraine's talk of future puppet nations in Africa? Or Venezuela's invasion of Bolivia, instead of just some future Nordic and Canada alliance.

Saying the EU doesn't benefit Scandinavia isn't political, it's just plain intellectually dishonest.
EU/EEC member states account for over half of Sweden's trade balance, for example. The automatic FTA involved in this obviously benefits them.

Indeed, Germany is a large trading partner for Sweden. However Sweden has not seen a huge rise in standards of living and economy since the entry into the European Union in 1994. Rather the opposite. However, the EEA is a different thing, and Sweden has been a part of it for a long time. I am advocating for a leaving of the European Union, not the European Economic Area.
