2014 Real-World RP

The year is 2014. Terroism in the Middle-East is reaching heights, along with the Syria crisis ongoing. China is building up to challenge the USA in economic and military might, as well as border skirmishes between the North and South Koreans. This is the world of 2014.

OOC: Alright, basically the year 2014 was chosen as if I put it higher, I would have to come up with technological advances and stuff myself which is a pain. With doing this just a few weeks before 2014 actually sets in, keeps us in line with the times, and also allows us to know what is actually supposed to be invented in the coming years, and any crisis thats sets IRL can easily be replicated in this. So basically, 2014 came early. We will also push this to April in 2014. Enjoy!

Description of Your Nation's Economy:The North Korean economy is one of the world's most government controlled economies since Germany in World War II. North Korea operates mostly domestically as international trade is mostly blocked, and about 25% of it focused on producing Military Equipment for the country. Weapons are manufactured in roughly 1,800 underground defense industry plants scattered throughout the county. Most of these facilities are located in Chagang Province.The plants are responsible for producing 200,000 Kalashnikov rifles annually, 3,000 heavy guns, 200 battle tanks, 400 armored cars and amphibious crafts in addition to several other weapons. Famine is one of the so-called, forgotten areas of the economy as food-shortages are rapid throughout the country. Major industries include military products, machine building, electric power, chemicals, mining, metallurgy, textiles, food processing and tourism. Iron ore and coal production are among the few sectors where North Korea performs significantly better than its southern neighbor – the DPRK produces about 10 times larger amounts of each resource.

Supreme Leader of North Korea - Kim Jong-un
Chairman of the Assembly Presidium - Which is the sorta-presidents role of North Korea after Kim Jong-sungs death.
Premier - Functions as head of government for the Supreme Leader.

Legislature:
Supreme People's Assembly - is the unicameral parliament of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), commonly known as North Korea. It consists of one deputy from each of 687 constituencies, elected to five-year terms. North Korea is a single-party state with the Workers' Party of Korea in power. Although two other parties exist, they are completely subservient to the WPK, which is granted a monopoly of power under the constitution. All candidates for the Supreme People's Assembly are picked by the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland, led by Kim Jong-un. The body in turn is dominated by the WPK. Although the Supreme People's Assembly is North Korea's primary legislative body, it ordinarily delegates authority to the smaller and more powerful Presidium, chosen from among its members.

I will be background checking all of your application for accuracy. You will not be accepted until your application is as accurate as can be. Don't worry, I will help you out if you don't know any information.

Last but certainly not least, there are a few rules to go over:

Timescale:
In this RP, I will be most of the time be handling the timeline. Although you guys can do this to, please do not speed up the timeline when two people are meeting, but don't make meetings last forever.

Historical Accuracy:
What does this mean? Obviously, it doesn't mean that we're going to be following history's course exactly, or at all. That would ruin the point of this RP! Try and do some different strategies and such as so much can happen. However, this does NOT give you the right to futz with everything all the time always. What do I mean? Well, you can't instantly change your country's goals, for one. Killing off certain figures and promoting new ones for convenience is frowned upon.

Waging War:
Any conflict that is started must be waged reasonably and realistically. Also be aware of the terrian you are invading as that is a determining factor in battles. Troop mobilization on a nationwide scale takes time as well, at the very least two weeks for the most advanced nations just in the home region.

Technology:
Understanding the limitations of your nation's technology is important. Soviet Union does not have spy-planes and has not yet found out how to properly land on another planet like the USA has. There are limitations for most countries as they are not as advanced as the Russian's or Americans or any real nation at that power. Just know what you can and cannot do.
Know How to Lose:
If you lose, say good game and go on. You can request to play as a revolutionary with new goals in the country you lost power in if you wish, just be realistic and don't go out there doing superman style politics/warfare.

Meta-Gaming:
What is meta-gaming? If something is talked about in OOC, for example a invasion plan for Afghanistan. I don't want someone going in there and placing troops in the way of the plan just from what they read in OOC.

Nuclear Warfare:
This will be the last point. Nuclear Weapons usage are going to be a strict part of this RP as Fallout is not something nice and there are rules on how to properly use them and try and not be so-..ugh about it. Let us say two countries go to war, I don't want the two countries to as soon as they get into conflict, launch a nuclear missile at someone. If you are expecting to do that, this is not your RP. Now I will allow nuclear weapons to fly at times, but be aware of range and the possibility of it not making it to the target. Use it as sorta a "Last-Resort tactic". All Nuclear strikes must be pre-approved by me and made with legit reasons, even if you are bluffing the use just to get what you want.

Ideology: Socialism
Foreign Policy: China is uninterested in ideological battles unlike the other great powers, but is more focused on its own prosperity and security. It does not see any other nation as an enemy per say but sees the USA as a rival in terms of global dominance. It also sees the oceans of Asia as rightfully Chinese and dislikes Japan and Taiwan as they actively dispute its claims. It is friendly towards Iran, North Korea, Pakistan, and many African governments. It also supports the Syrian government though not actively.

Small History of your nation from 2013 to April of 2014: the recession in Greece had finally started to slow down in January of 2014 and is actually starting improve, slowly but surely. Due to the stop of the recession, faith in the government had grown stronger stoping the many protests that were occurring. The government has begun reforms since March to transform Greece into a modern urban country.
RP Sample:
Athens, Greece

2 men were hunched over a table in the royal palace. The table had maps, reports, troop numbers, and figures all over it. "Now will be the Time to strike Perseus" said one of the men. He was Constantine Palagonias, king of Greece since his father died in 1905. "Yes, it is Constantine. I will mobilize 50,000 men and have them at the Turkish border in two week" said the other man. He is General Perseus, leader of the Greek armed forces. "Good" responded the King "finally, my ambitions will come to be. Soon the Byzantine Empire will be born again from our great nation". "I will go now to start the mobilizing of the troops" stated Perseus. The king looked up at him and replied with happiness "you may leave. I know that you will complete this conquest for me, thank you my most prized general". Perseus nodded and then left the room. Constantine looked down onto the map and put his finger on the spot that will be the crown jewel of the empire. Constantinople, the old imperial capital will once again be the empires seat of power once the conquests of Greece are complete. The King then started to put everything away and back into storage, no one could see the plans that had been laid out. Constantine was done in 30 minutes and then proceeded to the Throne room.

A few minutes after his arrival in the Throne room, a messenger entered. "What requires my attention messenger" asked the King. "We have received a offer of a trade agreement from the Wheat Isles" relayed the messenger handing the message to Constantine. After reading the message, Constantine wrote a message in response and gave it to the messenger. The message read:

From: Kingdom of Greece

I, Constantine Palagonias King of Greece, accept your offer of trade between our two nations. We hope this will not only strengthen our relations but usher in a new era of friendship between our nations. We are open to more possible offers in the future.

After the messenger left, Constantine turned to his royal advisers and inquired "are there any elections or votes taking place soon". One of the advisers took a a piece of paper out of his bag, looked over and then gave the king answer "the election for the Governor of Athens will take place this month and the people have voted in favor of the new law to preserve the ancient sites of Greece". Constantine nodded and then dismissed the advisors. Constantine sat on his throne after that and rested. 10 minutes later, General Perseus returned and had a favor to ask of the king. The general wanted Constantine to give a speech to the soldiers to improve their morale. Constantine agreed and left with General to a Army Base just outside the city. Upon their arrival
, the entire base was gathered around the stage where he King would speak. As the Constantine walked onto the stage, he was meet cheers from the men. When the soldiers quited down, the king began.

"My fellow Greeks, you are soldiers. You are the ones who protect all of Greece, you are the ones that keep everyone safe. Look to you right and to our left, that man next to you is a proud Greek just like yourself. All of you were willing to serve our great country and all of you will do Greece proud. I believe in you, the Generals believe in you, the people believe in you but the most important thing is for you to believe in yourself. If you believe in your self ther is no one who will stop you in your quest to protect Greece"

The speech was met with cheers and laughs. The men's morale was much improved from the speech. Constantine then took his leave back to the palace after saying farewell to the troops.

East Madagascar

Governor Orion Palagonias ruled over the Greek colony of East Madagascar. He is the younger brother of Constantine and given the job of ruling the vital colony. The colony was important to Greece because of the newly discovered Gem deposits in the north. The Gems gave Greece a major economic boost and the Gems were the primary reasons for the war on the republic of East Madagascar. The Governor was going through papers when he came across a letter from the king

"How are you little brother? I just wanted it check on you and he colony. How is the colony doing with it's great leader in charge"

The short letter gave Orion a good laugh and then he sent a replay back to the king.

"The colony is doing well big brother. There seems to be plenty of gems left to be harvested still and the crops are bountiful. The 10,000 Marines stationed here are in top shape and ready to squash any rebellion that the natives try to start. You might as well be told that the next gem shipment to Greece should be in a week"

Constantine looked down onto the map and put his finger on the spot that will be the crown jewel of the empire. Constantinople, the old imperial capital will once again be the empires seat of power once the conquests of Greece are complete. The King then started to put everything away and back into storage, no one could see the plans that had been laid out. Constantine was done in 30 minutes and then proceeded to the Throne room.

A few minutes after his arrival in the Throne room, a messenger entered. "What requires my attention messenger" asked the King. "We have received a offer of a trade agreement from the Wheat Isles" relayed the messenger handing the message to Constantine. After reading the message, Constantine wrote a message in response and gave it to the messenger. The message read:

CODE: SELECT ALL
To: King Wheat of the Wheat Isles
From: Kingdom of Greece

I, Constantine Palagonias King of Greece, accept your offer of trade between our two nations. We hope this will not only strengthen our relations but usher in a new era of friendship between our nations. We are open to more possible offers in the future.

After the messenger left, Constantine turned to his royal advisers and inquired "are there any elections or votes taking place soon". One of the advisers took a a piece of paper out of his bag, looked over and then gave the king answer "the election for the Governor of Athens will take place this month and the people have voted in favor of the new law to preserve the ancient sites of Greece". Constantine nodded and then dismissed the advisors. Constantine sat on his throne after that and rested. 10 minutes later, General Perseus returned and had a favor to ask of the king. The general wanted Constantine to give a speech to the soldiers to improve their morale. Constantine agreed and left with General to a Army Base just outside the city. Upon their arrival
, the entire base was gathered around the stage where he King would speak. As the Constantine walked onto the stage, he was meet cheers from the men. When the soldiers quited down, the king began.

"My fellow Greeks, you are soldiers. You are the ones who protect all of Greece, you are the ones that keep everyone safe. Look to you right and to our left, that man next to you is a proud Greek just like yourself. All of you were willing to serve our great country and all of you will do Greece proud. I believe in you, the Generals believe in you, the people believe in you but the most important thing is for you to believe in yourself. If you believe in your self ther is no one who will stop you in your quest to protect Greece"

The speech was met with cheers and laughs. The men's morale was much improved from the speech. Constantine then took his leave back to the palace after saying farewell to the troops.

East Madagascar

Governor Orion Palagonias ruled over the Greek colony of East Madagascar. He is the younger brother of Constantine and given the job of ruling the vital colony. The colony was important to Greece because of the newly discovered Gem deposits in the north. The Gems gave Greece a major economic boost and the Gems were the primary reasons for the war on the republic of East Madagascar. The Governor was going through papers when he came across a letter from the king

"How are you little brother? I just wanted it check on you and he colony. How is the colony doing with it's great leader in charge"

The short letter gave Orion a good laugh and then he sent a replay back to the king.

"The colony is doing well big brother. There seems to be plenty of gems left to be harvested still and the crops are bountiful. The 10,000 Marines stationed here are in top shape and ready to squash any rebellion that the natives try to start. You might as well be told that the next gem shipment to Greece should be in a week"

Small History of your nation from 2013 to April of 2014: the recession in Greece had finally started to slow down in January of 2014 and is actually starting improve, slowly but surely. Due to the stop of the recession, faith in the government had grown stronger stoping the many protests that were occurring. The government has begun reforms since March to transform Greece into a modern urban country.

2 men were hunched over a table in the royal palace. The table had maps, reports, troop numbers, and figures all over it. "Now will be the Time to strike Perseus" said one of the men. He was Constantine Palagonias, king of Greece since his father died in 1905. "Yes, it is Constantine. I will mobilize 50,000 men and have them at the Turkish border in two week" said the other man. He is General Perseus, leader of the Greek armed forces. "Good" responded the King "finally, my ambitions will come to be. Soon the Byzantine Empire will be born again from our great nation". "I will go now to start the mobilizing of the troops" stated Perseus. The king looked up at him and replied with happiness "you may leave. I know that you will complete this conquest for me, thank you my most prized general". Perseus nodded and then left the room. why and how would they attack Afghanistan seeing as though American forces would still be their along with a few other countries as well i believe. Ukraine would also have to transport them all by air which would be very challenging for their military. Also, disliking the lifestyle isn't a good reason
