If Stalin hadn't hijacked the Revolution, the only reason it would have failed would be because of the first World War, which was still going on during the revolution.
If they had just politely waited until after WWI, and not trusted Stalin, there's no reason it wouldn't have worked...although WWII would be very, very different.

Not really. The Tsars were still totalitarian dicks who were deliberately starving their populace in order to subjugate them more, and Nicholas II was still going to deny them basic human rights such as water.
Also, there's no telling how WWI would have ended had the Russian Revolution not inspired Russian soldiers. There's no doubt that a large part of the reason Russia was so successful in WWII is because Stalin pitching it as "the freedom war".

No. The tsars caused more pain and suffering than Hitler ever could have, and over centuries rather than just years. You can't even put a number on how many people died by their hand, it's uncountable and would be obscenely high if it was.
