The Power of Kinesis [CLOSED / SHUT DOWN]

Postby Caecuser » Sat Nov 23, 2013 12:05 pm

The Power of Kinesis

WORLD MAP

The mystical world of Valcia is ruled by conflicting Kingdoms and Clans - populated by the fantastical and powerful, with conflicts that bring out the very best and worst of the world and Humanity; the dominating Nations of this world are:

The Kingdom of Theikon: the most successful and arguably powerful of the Three Kingdoms is also its youngest having formed in the heart of the Teralin Forest approximately five hundred years ago by the escaping remnants of High Flaega - a ruinous land now known only as the Valley of Mists. Retreating from the ethereal disaster that shook them to their core the Clans had an internal schism over the crossing of Mount Heralis with some pressing on to the East and others fleeing bitterly to the South to what will later be known as the Freelands. Forging a new land and dream in the Capital; Illiander, the people of Theikon are determined and possess some of the most powerful and numerous Clans of this Age.

The Kingdom of Isteroth: the cradle of civilization lies within Orius the Capital whose Kinsmen can manipulate the very essences of Life and Death. Founded over five thousand years ago this Kingdom has shaped the world more time than can be counted and has had a hand in the development of all other Kingdoms. Vaulted as being a central point of the world and a place where all knowledge can be found it has degraded in many ways since its prime and now only stubbornly can hold together due to the unrelenting power of its Kinsmen and the oppressive hierarchy of its leadership.

The Kingdom of Erenon: during a Civil War in Isteroth nearly two thousand years ago a major faction opted out of the oppressive regime which was beginning to appear in the Capital. This faction amongst others fled south capturing and making independent a large portion of land, leading to a constant strife and destructive area between Fort Mirance and Vessin. Erenon has in the past made alliances with the Freeland of Amerys but that alliance is strikingly frail in the present due to the disputes between future actions and supposed underground spying performed by both sides.

The Freeland of Amerys: founded over a thousand years ago on the back of a slave uprising at Port Illin in the Kingdom of Isteroth - they have resisted invasion over the centuries from both Isteroth and Theikon. Upon landing on the strange shores of the Amerys peninsula the fleeing Clans liberated from their enslavement began founding a new world operating by the basic desires for global peace and safety. Their success in spreading across the new land drew worry from Isteroth who in their own interests declared a perpetual state of war until the Freeland would be crushed. Disenfranchised Kinsmen from the land of High Flaega also joined the swiftly growing Freeland causing strife with the newly formed Kingdom of Theikon who has had a relationship with the Freeland consisting of both war and peace.

Amongst these powerful conglomerations of Clans and wealth however are smaller, independent Clans each to their own area some hidden from the world and staying out of its intrigue and danger. These Clans found either in the Kingdoms or the Freeland or living independently possess unique abilities operating on the basic principle of Kinesis; the manipulation of all things. These abilities are various and usually involve some kind of element of concept through which the users will and internal energy can be injected through.

Clan Abilities

OOC: This RP is intended to be pretty big in scale with several Clans across the different Nations presented here, there is a lot of variety for the world and the abilities of the numerous Clans; there are concepts for a lot of RPs depending on the type and number of Clans accepted here.

The OP's for this RP are myself and Stattr, there are no Co-OPs at the moment.
The rules are fairly simple and straight-forward, obey common etiquette that should be present in all RPs, be polite to each other in the OOC and refrain from excessive swearing or graphic descriptions in the IC. Avoid godmodding, metagaming and twisting every situation ICly to your own end, be prepared to suffer consequences as a result of actions or events.

Some Kinetic Abilities are off-limits - some of which should be obvious such as Unikinesis, Tectokinesis, or Solarkinesis. If you're unsure if an ability might be too powerful then TG me.

I'll see about getting a character from Erenon up.

I'll most likely wait to see what other have done before posting an app.

What can you tell me about the basic idea behind the Clans?

Well - each Clan can distantly trace their roots back to Isteroth where Kinesis was learned and began. Starting off as small families, the powers could be passed on through genetic lines creating the Clans who for the most part jealously guard their own abilities.

Some have grown to hold what is in essence a collection of extended families numbering in the hundreds - while some have so few members they are nearly extinct.

Clans depending on their abilities can become a cities police force, or offer their surfaces in building, healing, altering and protecting.

Some take no part in these things at all and live for themselves - and some of them are in fact rulers of cities or of the Kingdoms themselves. Clans of course can have rivals and allies, which can lead to disastrous consequences due to the powers involved.

Alright, so all I have to do is invision a world sort of like that in Naruto combined with the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender in order to create a character that should merge into the setting. I suggest putting some of this information under the Accepted Clans section of the OP post to give those viewing this thread an idea of what being part of a clan means in Valcia.

You're very accurate there - it is heavily inspired by both Avatar and Naruto.

Definitely interested. I was thinking of playing as one of the more ancient, thousands-of-years old Isteroth clans. I just can't decide between Chlorokinesis, Hydrokinesis and Cognitokinesis.

I'd recommend Hydro, it'd be useful and a valuable resource in a desert-type area like Isteroth.

I was about to point out that there's not much water in the desert to use, when I realized that I could work that into their history - they use their abilities to draw water directly out of the aquifer, which is why they have survived in the desert. I will work on an app right now.

Good point, on a darker note there could also be an element of desertification by members of the clan using techniques to drain large amounts of water.

I'll be getting an App up, though I'm still unsure what sort of character i'd like to create.

By the way, what species is their to choose form, and what are their distinctions?

That's a good point, I'll add that to the OP soon.

There are the classic Fantasy races - Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Werewolves, Vampires and Demons except the Demons won't be present at first in the RP.

There can also be Giants, Goblins, Ogres, Trolls, Orcs, etc.

Some races have a natural affinity toward a certain type of Power such as Geokinesis for the Dwarves and Lunarkinesis for the Werewolves, and so on. I'm leaving most of this - and each species specific distinctions up to the players for the most part.

Hrm...

I actually really want to create a character here with Retro/Paleokinesis, just for the hell of it. But I may instead want to do Mycokinesis or Nosokinesis. Maybe Vitakinesis...hrm.

Actually, would Scientikinesis be allowed? That one sounds really fun.

Retro/Paleokinesis, Mycokinesis, Nosokinesis and Vitakinesis are all acceptable abilities.

I'm not so sure about Scientikinesis though, that seems to be quite vague and covers a whole range of powers.

Yeah, because some Clans like the more generally known would be populous such as Pyrokinetics or Hydrokinetics.
